Iconic mini zoo
Nov 2021 • Friends
It is the off season but this iconic little zoo was still a treat to visit. After a scenic walk through central park we were able to visit the park, getting wristbands to allow us into the inside exhibits. The bear enclosure was currently closed for refurbishment but the sea lion and bird house were full of life. The zoo itself is very pretty and was clean and well kept. The giftshop is tiny, and lacking in the variety offered by larger zoos but for a iconic hour of entertainment it can't be beaten.

Incredibly small zoo with a few exhibits. If you’ve got kids that need to be entertained and money burning a hole in your pocket… go for it. You might be able to spend an hour or two if you walk slowly. The enclosures are nice and it was clean, there’s just not a lot. ( If you want to knock your socks off with a zoo -travel to the Bronx zoo!)
When ordering tickets in advance online- which you’re required to do- scroll down and you’ll find a less expensive option. The full price tickets include some 4D movie, but you can buy lesser tickets and avoid that.
Note- they require timed tickets purchased in advance to avoid crowds. When you arrive at your time you’re all corralled in this long line to show proof of vaccination and wait to scan to enter….in a crowd. Ironic that’s it done in the name of social distancing…

NO BIG DEAL
Oct 2021
Not much to see. I've been to small zoos before, but this zoo has nothing. Saw one monkey, no chetahs, bear exibit was empty. Thank god the two seals were playful. The 10 minute 4D movie was the best part. Its nice for just a walk. Thank god its only $20

Great while visiting a Central Park.

A small zoo in Central Park but good to spend an afternoon with the family but no more. Not to expensive for entry. But if visiting NYC with children and Central Park has to be on the list of places to visit. Then you must take them here, if you don’t you will regret it. The bear & seal enclosures were our favourites.

So much fun!

We loved the Central Park Zoo! Most animals were easy to see. It's a small zoo, and perfect for a couple of hours in the morning.

Buying tickets was confusing. There was a sign at the front that had a QR code we were instructed to scan and buy a timed ticket. Luckily we were able to get tickets immediately - as we did not realize we needed a timed ticket to get in.

But after buying a $20 ticket, we saw kiosks where we could get a $14 ticket that did not include the theater (which we knew we did not want to go to as we had limited time). The QR code ticket page did not give us the option for anything but the $20 ticket.

But I would definitely do it again - just know there are two different tickets - with the theater and with out, and buy the one you need.

Small but top in USA

I've been to many other states & zoos. Sand Diego, Dallas, Denver, Anchorage... this one beats them all. Clean, easy to view animals... very active. Small but lots to see!

Small & Green
Jun 2021 • Family
Very small , I was expecting more.

Loved the area, lots of green jungle like walk thru!! The seals just steal the day, they fly up and out & say Hiii to everyone !!! Soo close you could touch them 😍
Bring extra clothes for the kids to play in the areas, playground & spraying water for hot days.

It rained so I am not sure if we missed anything 😒
The 1 bathroom by the food was an issue, use another location.

Went here for the first time ever. Small footprint but lots to do and see. The grizzly bear exhibit was very nice. Penguins too. Fun zoo for $13.

A gem!
This is a well designed and easily walkable attraction for all ages. The adorable animals were all viewable and an hour was all we needed to see everything. We were there on a Thursday afternoon and had the whole place almost completely to ourselves. Don’t miss the famous Delacorte clock by the exit/children’s zoo for chimes and a glockenspiel on the hour (Recently a plot line in the movie A Rainy Day in New York), among other movies. Well worth a visit - even without kids!
