I had an amazing view of the Manhattan Skyline whilst on a Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island cruise. When you're in Manhattan the noise is constant but out on the water the skyline silhouetted against a beautiful blue, cloudless sky was awesome. I experienced the iconic night skyline travelling in a yellow cab from JFK airport and as the... More

Manhattan's skyline is heartbreakingly beautiful, but since 9/11, poignant for what's not there. That said, the city is always changing, new buildings are transforming the Far West Side, Tribeca, Columbus Circle--everywhere. The classic 3 hour tourboat around Manhattan Island, or free trip on the Staten Island Ferry is one way to get a view, but three hours is more than... More

Take the Statue By Night cruise at Pier 16 for an amazing view of the Manhattan Skyline and the Statue of Liberty. Tip: Sit on the highest deck, last row facing the back of the boat (Zephyr boat).

I love the NYC skyline! I think it is the most beautiful city in the US. It energizes and excites me. The modern mixed with old.

We experienced this the best on the FREE Staten island ferry service. It is my understanding from a friend that the best way to see Manhatten is by helicopter, located close to the ferry. Unfortunately we did not have the time to experience this.

The Manhattan skyline is an amazing feat of towering real estate squeezed into about 4 1/2 miles of island. It is a visual treat of architectural decades of innovation. And when the sun sets in the west, the buildings turn golden. However, ironically the best place to view the Manhattan skyline is from the New Jersey side, Brooklyn Heights, Long... More

The best way to view the Skyline is by taking a narrated boat tour. The cost is reasonable. The boat tour is about 2.5 hour in duration. Your learn about the history of the city, neighborhoods, and buildings. The boats are covered with the option of outside seating. Snacks and beverages can be purchased on board. Full restroom facilities are... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
