The Standard programs a mix of performances that includes the Latin Jazz innovators Alfredo Rodriguez, Dafnis Prieto, and Guillermo Klein and their bands, as well as the new music big band of Darcy James Argue and Secret Society, some of the best concerts I heard this year and last. There were some surprises too--Luis Perdomo and his Controlling Ear Unit,... More

I'm not, as a rule, a fan of the music supper club - the music is for listening to, not eating to. Blue Smoke/Jazz Standard however, is the exception. The tables are well spaced (unlike the wretched Blue Note); the food is excellent (barbeque from Blue Smoke upstairs, with an astounding 3 courses for $45 deal); great and attentive service,... This is a great bar situated on 116 East 27th Street NY - there's a lane way immediately behind The Park South Hotel 124 E28th St if you have difficulty locating it. There's a bar serving food ( we didn't eat here) and drinks (free re-fill on soft drinks) at ground level where the staff were always really friendly, helpful... More

We went to see Matt Wilson and Big Happy Family with our teenagers. The show was great of course. We were planning on having dinner after but saw the menu and gave it a try and the food was excellent! Lovely surprise.

Intimate atmosphere. Terrible food. Nice service. Great place for different types of jazz bands. As in most clubs the table you will be able to sit at is given on "first come first served " principle.

Great music, reasonable prices in a basement room on the east side that also serves food specializing in BBQ from Blue Smoke above. Convenient safe neighborhood just lacking a bit of the true jazz vibe.

Went to Jazz Standard last Friday. Been many times, but decided to write a review this time. Saw Dee Dee Bridgewater whose set started slowly but ended strongly. Blue Smoke food was outstanding--wife loved the brisket and the biscuit she had with it. I had the burger and it was very good and plenty big. Highly recommend--doors open at 6:15... More

Arrived half an hour before the first set and got good seats against the wall next to the stage. Big pillars at near the stage obstruct the view from certain seats so take care and have a look when being seated. The settee along the wall us not very comfortable for a two hours stay. Excellent music by DeeDee Bridgewater... More

I've been to Jazz Standard twice during the first week of June 2016. Both times it was a superb experience thanks to excellent music and great atmosphere of the place. I was surprised with relatively limited audience, which was the opposite to the Blue Note's or Birdland's experience on my other evenings in NYC. But, unlike the aforementioned places, there...
