Our guide was very informative and fun to listen too. He showed us all the nices places in the park with plenty opportunity for questions & photos. In all, an excellent way to explore Central Park and a great general introduction to NYC
Also the bikes were brand new and easy to ride on, also for the children !

Went here a few days ago and i had a beautiful experience. I made a tour of Central Park with an awesome bike that had a locker and a little bag to put your personal stuff in it. The bikes were really comfortable. The prices are very good and it was worth it 100%. If you go to NYC you have to rent a bike there ;)

We visited NYC and my sister got lost in Central Park. The staff finished at 7pm but waited around until my sister appeared around 8pm. The bike ride itself was very pleasant and the prices reasonable. I would like to thank Garett especially for his selfless assistance. Would definitely recommend.

Just be careful leaving your credit card details when hiring the bike. ALOT of money had been taken from my account as my card had been hacked. Nice little surprise on my overseas holiday. Would hate for this to happen to somebody else. Just walk through the park.. I wish i did!

I have waited a few days before reviewing our bike tour of Lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge on Sunday, June 18th. I felt I may be unfair if I did it straight away before 'cooling down' a little, I was so angry! To give some background, our family has done bike tours in Rome, Barcelona, London, Paris and Sydney and we just love them - they are the best way to get to know a city! Unfortunately, Sunday's tour in New York was uninspiring at best, and downright dangerous at worst.
Our guide gave the impression he just wanted to get it over with. I didn't want to judge his poor personal grooming when he showed up, but really, now the ride is finished, it did predict his whole attitude throughout the tour. At the stops, he droned through rehearsed speeches so quickly it was difficult to catch half of what he was saying. He rode off like a bull at a gate after each stop and expected the 6 guests (only 6, not hard to keep track of) to catch him if they could, except that one time my bike chain came off and he was so far in front he had no idea. Luckily the rest of the group realised I was missing and waited at the next traffic light for me (minus guide) where I showed up, covered in grease from sorting the chain out myself. Not happy. We caught up with our guide at the next stop a couple of kms further on - he didn't think about riding back to check on us. At intersections, rather than taking up the rear and checking everyone got through safely, he often went through against the light and didn't even turn his head to see that we were all with him. While not the guide's fault per se, when a car came through a red light and clipped my 12 year old, causing him to fall off his bike so violently that pedestrians stopped and offered to act as witnesses, he rode back briefly, didn't get off his bike and said only "Is he ok to ride on?"! (The child was, but was a little shaken, grazed and embarrassed and could have used a minute to recover and a kind word about how brave he was being!). The next bizarre moment at our next stop was his recommendation of his favourite x-rated off-Broadway show. He seemed to find muppets "Having live sex on stage" hilarious, but everyone else just felt uncomfortable.
I am not precious or a safety freak - obviously, if I've previously been happy to risk riding in traffic with children in countries not known for sedate drivers, however this guy is an accident waiting to happen. He doesn't even follow the most basic of rules regarding riding in a group, and whoever owns the company needs to spend some time giving him a serious safety briefing. In the meantime, I would give this tour a big miss! Check my other reviews, I rarely heap it on any hotel, restaurant or tour, but our Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan tour was that bad.

We got there about 8:45 and there was already a line up of people. Obviously someone didn't come into work that day, so the guy running it was pretty annoyed and swore a bit. I probably would've too, but not in front of customers!
The bikes were easy to ride and you were given a map to work your way around the park.
We only took an hour and a half, and the guy only charged us for that even though it was supposed to be $14 an hour.
Pretty good experience to bike Central Park

Boy do I have a lot to say about this. Understand, I am a biking enthusiast, and seeing NYC by bike strikes me as a terrific idea. But I found some safety issues that you should be aware of.
We used the New York Explorer Pass for a 4-hour bike rental at Battery Park location. They do not “accept” explorer pass at that location – it is accepted at the Pier 84 location (12th Ave and 43rd St) – but they accommodated us by taking a VISA deposit which would be refunded when we turned the bikes in at Pier 84, where they had the machine to swipe our Explorer Pass card. Worked out for us because we were planning to go there anyway. It was good of them to help us out that way.
At the Battery Park location, there was a guy who was quite friendly and helpful. And there was a girl who appeared to be amused at the sight of these tourists wanting to use bikes. Not sure if she was an employee or the guy’s friend. It appeared she was an employee, since she was sitting behind the counter.
As to the bikes provided. It was me and my two teen boys. BandR uses Trek hybrids. Didn’t get the model. My bike was larger than the boys, as it should be. But not large enough. There was no dialog about what size bike to get, they just fetch the bikes and say “here you go”. Mine was rideable enough but a bigger bike would’ve been nice (I’m 6’3”) as my legs were cramped. But I made do. Worse was my younger boys’ bike. The seat rotated round and round. We did not notice this (or he did not say anything) until after we’d left. We tried to secure the seat by adjusting the screw but no luck. The little trooper rode it anyway, all the way across the Brooklyn Bridge and then back up the Hudson Greenway. Be sure to check your bikes before you depart. We were a little too eager to get going and neglected to do so. And apparently the BandR rep didn’t either.
They do provide a helmet (you dig through a box yourself to find the right size), a terrific zip-up handlebar basket for cellphone and whatnot, and locks (we had to ask for the locks).
Our plan was to bike over the Brooklyn Bridge, then come back and bike up the Hudson River. We did NOT buy the bike tour, we chose “self-guided”. Not a good idea, for us anyway, because even though there are bike path signs, you can find yourself in traffic if you aren’t familiar with the area. Was not a good thing to be in the traffic lane for vehicular traffic onto Brooklyn Bridge. Which is where we found ourselves, because we misread the green bike path signs. Be SURE to only follow the signs with bicycles on them – the other signs are for CARS not bikes. Hugging the median, we waited for the light to halt traffic, and then gingerly got ourselves back into the B.B. Bike lane.
They give you a terrific bicycling map, but we found the downtown/brooklyn bridge area, especially the insets, difficult to follow, at least outbound (Manhattan to Brooklyn). Coming back (Brooklyn to Manhattan to westside/Hudson) we were able to follow the map with a little trial and error. Take your time and familiarize yourself with the map.
So we successfully made the Brooklyn Bridge transit. I would not recommend what we did if you have teens in your family. It worked for us but it was on the dicey side and an accident could have just as easily occurred.
Next, the Hudson Greenway portion of our trip. There is a terrific bike/jog/pedestrian path up the westside. But again, it can be dicey. In fact, we observed a cyclist on the ground who had been hit by a taxi. This was in the Chelsea Piers area. He seemed to be ok because he was able to dial his cellphone (lying on his side) but he was NOT getting up. It was clear he had been hit by a taxi because the taxi was stopped in the intersection practically on top of the guy. People were tending to him so we moved on.
The problem here is that there are vehicular exits from the West Side Highway which cross the bike lanes into the piers and parks along the rivers. There are bike lane “traffic lights”, but we did not notice them immediately. So you have vehicular traffic, exiting WSH across the bike lanes (at fairly high speed I suspect), potentially colliding with bicycles. Which I suspect is what happened to the gentleman above. The bicycle traffic lights are red/green like usual, but in a bicycle shape. Once you know they are there it is easy enough to look for them. But we were not advised of these (the BandR rep should have mentioned them in my opinion) and, it being a bike path, and us not being familiar with the WSH, we tended to blast along the bike path without regard to exiting vehicular traffic. I tend to think a lot of people would do the same thing. Sadly, while browsing web looking for news article on above incident, I found one from several years back where a 57-year old physician was killed.
The BandR website says “Biking in New York City on the Greenway bike path is fun, safe, easy, and convenient”. Not sure I agree with that entirely. It is safe perhaps IF you are familiar with it. But what tourist is familiar with cycling in Manhattan ? I am not trying to diss Bike and Roll. I think it is a terrific way to see the city. But visitors need to be aware of the reality of biking in NYC. In my opinion the possibility of injury is high if, like us, you aren’t familiar with it. Conclusion: Take your time and be extra, extra careful if you choose the self-guided option. GO SLOW until you get the hang of things. STOP if you are not sure how to proceed. Consider the guided tour options (which I am not familiar with but presumably are at least a little safer.).
Don’t get me wrong. We are glad we did this. Going over the Brooklyn Bridge and up the west side was AMAZING. But there are some safety issues that you need to know before you go.

I have recently used Bike and Rolls Columbus Circle Central Park branch.
Although I very much enjoyed the experience of riding a bike through Central Park I did not expect a member of staff to go on a shopping spree at my expense!
It was easy to identify that the theft was from Bike and Roll as I have not used the Credit Card in question in nearly 2 years and they are the only party I have produced my card to within that period of time.
Absolutely disgusting behavior and I feel others should be warned that this company is employing untrustworthy members of staff.

6 of us did the segway tour with Bike and Roll in Liberty Park yesterday. John, our guide, was fun and informative. We had our full two hours on the machines and it was a fantastic experience. If you are thinking about booking this, I would say do it! We had the best time. Fabulous views of the Manhatten skyline and the Statue of Liberty.

Amazing tour arranged by a family member for our group to Segway around Liberty Island. One of the major highlights of the trip for all 12 of us! Beautiful sights and lots of fun. Jay and John were great guides and really easy going.

Hi, For the bike tours do you have the option of a tandem bike? Thank you

It looks tempting to do a bike tour over the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, and my question is: how fit do you have to be for the biking? How long is the ride? Is it suitable for a 13-year old? Thanks in advance.
Written May 18, 2017
It is not difficult. The entire tour is approximately 13 miles over 3 hours with a number of breaks to see the sights. The only climbing is over the bridges and not too difficult. I see no reason a 13 year old couldn't handle. I've been to Copenhagen - doesn't everybody ride bikes there?

Hi, Maria. What would you like to know about this attraction?

Hi, does the Brooklyn bridge tour take in the sites of the financial district? and the tours states child's recommended age be 13. I have a 12 & 9 boys, would they be able to join the tour?
Written February 19, 2017
Hi,
The biking we did was in Central Park and the rental bikes were adult size. My 10 year old granddaughter would be able to ride because she is tall.
The Brooklyn Bridge tour we did was on a double-decker bus and we bought a three-day pass to be able to get on and off when we desired. Children were on those buses too.
I'm not sure this is what you are asking. Cathy
