Outstanding Experience with New York Historical Tours

On a recent trip to NYC, we had the great pleasure of touring the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn with Kevin. As someone who has had the opportunity to work with more than a few guides, I can say without qualification that Kevin is top of the line - extremely knowledgable and overflowing with interesting anecdotes served up with a witty sense of humor. Kevin deftly walked the very fine line between responding to group interests while keeping us moving through the tour. Can't wait to learn about more of the city with Kevin on a future visit.

Kevin Draper was such a pleasure to do this amazing walking tour with! My son gifted this to me (and him) for a two hour walk discussing the Art Deco Architecture and motifs around Rockefeller Center and Grand Central. I love the detail work, and photograph it often, but to hear stories and get a deeper appreciation of something I walk past and admire daily was awesome. On top of that though, I truly appreciate the love and excitement he has in telling the history of everything you can ask him about!!! This totally is a passion for him and feel happy for him to live a life doing something he loves and enjoys everyday. I recommend this to EVERYONE---but I will say, us locals might appreciate it a little more on a deeper level. Thanks Kevin!!

Our guide, Kevin was fantastic! He was incredibly knowledgeable about each location on our tour sharing interesting historical facts & comparing them to modern day events, which made them feel very relatable. It was a very cold day, and he managed to keep us engaged, delighted and informed while ducking in and out of warm places to shield us from the weather. We did the downtown tour and the Gilded Age Tour and he kept us fully entertained & engaged the entire time. I will definitely return for more & recommend him to family & friends.

Fantastic 2 days spent with Kevin!!

Kevin is a wonderful guide in many ways!! Our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 older elem. age children) had pleasure of doing 2 days of private tours with him recently. Kevin is exceptionally knowledgeable, extremely flexible and very kind, responsive!! Our 1st day we concentrated on the many iconic sights of Midtown Manhattan, including inside the Empire State Building, NY City Library, Grand Central, Rockefeller Center, and many more including hidden gems along the way - all fantastic!!! Next day we did Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, 9/11 memorial, saw some hotels and part of Central Park we wanted and then he recommended we see inside Morgan library - also fabulous! I highly recommend Kevin and will definitely only reach out to him for future tours - he does a wide variety and is a pleasure to be with!!

The best MOMA experience! I have visited MOMA a few times and have always enjoyed the collection but visiting with Kevin from New York Historical Tours was truly the highlight of our NYC trip! Don’t wander around the museum without this wonderful guide! I can’t wait to book a MET tour with Kevin on our next trip!

Whenever I travel, I try to book a tour with a local guide able to bring a city's history to life. If you are interested in a fascinating tour of New York's unique history and architecture, I highly recommend that you do at least one two-hour walking tour with Kevin. Highly knowledgeable, eloquent and engaging, Kevin knows the ins and outs of this city, with visits along the way inside the buildings, courtyards and streets that brings New York City to life in a totally new way.

Our family of 4 did the founding fathers tour. It was excellent! Our guide, Kevin, had in depth knowledge about anything we asked related to the founding fathers or not. On a frigid January day, he spaced out a good number of warm up spots throughout the tour. Highly recommend!

Incredible Tour by an incredibly knowledgeable tour guide!

My family did a tour with Kevin Draper dealing with the Founding Fathers. Because my grandsons are very familiar with Alexander Hamilton, Kevin did a great job telling us about that part of history. Additionally, Kevin pointed out other historical buildings and talked about their history. That really added to our overall experience. Kevin‘s historical knowledge is unsurpassed and we would definitely recommend him for any of the tours that are available through his company.

Entertaining, informative and so fun!

We did a private tour with Kevin that featured the Gilded Age History of Manhattan. With COVID, it seemed like the perfect fit for a crisp, beautiful fall day to walk around outside, look at the beautiful mansions of that era and learn about NYC in that period (which I now know!) that spanned from 1865 to 1919. It was fantastic! Kevin made us comfortable, wearing a mask the whole time and steering us away from crowded areas, as he regaled us with the history and great stories about the people who ruled the Gilded Age. It was great. I highly recommend! We're native NYers and we're going to do another tour soon. It was a wonderful afternoon.

Harlem tour another grand slam from Kevin!

This was our second time on a walking tour with Kevin Draper and New York History Tours... and it was just as good. Once again, he gave us a detailed, creative and entertaining account of the neighborhood's full history, AND thoughtfully designed the tour to minimize exposure to the hot summer sun. We did Harlem this time, and we learned so much. As usual, what we *assume* is the history of Harlem is just the surface of what we learned with Kevin. What I like so much about this: He didn't just tell us about the jazz era and the rise of Harlem as the center of African American culture. He told us about the history and economic/social conditions that led to it becoming what it is today. I cannot recommend this enough!
