Not just about ghosts. Russell really knows his history and even let us change the tour to warm up in McSorleys for a quick drink. High recommend

We took the tour on Halloween and greatly enjoyed our tour. Our guide was a skilled story teller and presented a very interesting history of different spots in the Village. I really enjoyed this and would recommend this to anyone interested in history and/or appreciates a good ghost story.

We did the Edgar Allan Poe tour with relatives who came to visit us in New York, and were quite disappointed. The stories were far-fetched most of the time (you can clearly see that an appartment is inhabited, but apparently some ghosts drove the previous tenants away..., or you learn that a character is haunting a building for which he... While visiting NYC, I did two of their tours, Ghosts of the Upper West Side and Edgar Allan Poe and His Ghostly Neighbors of Greenwich Village. Now let me tell you, I've done ghost tours all over Canada and the US in some seriously spooky cities (including Salem, MA!) and the Greenwich Village tour with Russel absolutely thrilled me. The... I took what I considered would be a cute tour of the Village and was delighted by Prudence (our guide). She became a ghost and stayed in character while she shared all sorts of goody stories. Admittedly, I got chills at certain stops. I really enjoyed it. Definitely bring an open mind and wonder. Dress warm for the weather as... More

Prudence Holmes is an awesome tour guide and did a great job. I truly enjoyed every minute of her tour. She has lived in the city for 30+ years, so she is very knowledgeable and fun. A truly great story teller, Prudence is definitely recommended. You won't be sorry you took your tour with her!

The Ghosts of New York tour provided an interesting tour of historical places which are haunted by various spirits. The tour guide provided an excellent presentation on the history of the area and the spirits haunting them.

We all enjoyed a unique, artistic and history filled tour of Greenwich Village. The tour focused on historic places, famous writers and focused on Edgar Allen Poe. The tour guide showed me a place that I never saw before so I thought that was a treat. I have been to Greenwich Village before so I know the area.

A fun walk through time, full of historical and architectural anecdotes. Not the tour for those who want things to jump out and yell 'Boo!' (although I'm sure local residents would oblige) but a thoughtful, funny, and darkly creepy look at a neighborhoods that have seen their share of sadness and terror. The best way to keep the dead with... More

We decided to do this last minute and it turned out to be a great idea! Prudence Wright was so funny and kind. She really kept the tour upbeat. It was also a wonderful walk around the city as well.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
