Walking through the market is so much fun. There are many different local farms selling bread, cheeses, homemade jams, fruits, vegetables and meats. You won't be disappointed but you may find some markets are expensive. I bought fresh field tomatoes that were basically $2.50 per tomato. But when I got home and ate them, I will tell you that they... More

I like food, I like to cook and so I enjoy markets which sell ingredients. Doesn't take long, less than an hour to walk through. The park in the square is also nice.

This market is great if you're looking for fresh produce as most of the sellers offer it. It's also good to grab a fresh juice and walk around the park nearby.

Great for strolling or shopping - Breads, plants, meat, cakes, honey, wine, vegetables, fruits. Go were the locals go.

Walked around and drank some cider from a vendor, they had lots of great offerings besides produce. Vendors were also selling beef, fresh seafood, local wine, local beer, even some treats for your pooch. Supposedly the biggest farmer's market in NYC.

My husband and I like to visit NYC a couple times a year, and we always make it a point to walk through the Green Market in Union Sq when we are here. We are amazed by the prices, which are much more affordable than the farmer's market prices where we live in Columbus (who would've thought?). When we stay... More

I have been shopping here forever. Always a great experience. Check out some of my favorite vendors...Trembley Honey, Chateau Renaissance wines, Beth's Farm Kitchen. Great for locals as well as visitors.

This market has such a wide variety of items and vendors. Even on a cool and gloomy Saturday morning in mid May there were plenty of things to see, smell, and taste. Several of the vendors were passing out free samples so you could try their items before purchasing. It was fun to walk around and take everything in. The... More

Walking the High Line, then heading to Union Square makes a great Saturday in the City. The Greenmarket was not completely up and running as it was still early in May when we went, but there was seasonal produce and plenty of plants to pick from. Wine and cheese tasting was available as well. Honey, local and specialty, was also... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
