I learned so much on the Mafia walking tour with Eric Ferrara, an Italian New Yorker and historian who has spent his life observing the organization, mostly at first hand through family and friends. Eric takes you on a trip through history to the current day, pointing out mob haunts and regaling the group with stories and anecdotes that were... More

This was probably the best walking tour I have ever done! The host Eric Ferrara gave a most informative and compelling tour of the area, pointing out and visiting areas and buildings of great mafia significance, and was very knowledgable on NYC mafia history and the Little Italy area. Fantastic, as I have a great interest in the subject, but... More

Myself and partner did this tour last week whilst visiting New York, it was my partners idea as he has a massive interest in the subject however I must say it was also the highlight of my holiday, I think I massively underestimated how interesting and enthralling the tour would be. The tour guide Eirc is fantastic full of enthusiasm... More

We had a private tour with Eric and it was absolutely worth it. His knowledge, character and manner is impeccable. We did this tour for my husbands 40th who has a real interest in this topic and it was a highlight of his NYC trip and to be honest mine too. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and it has increased... The tour was great we were shown former social clubs, speakeasy and other gangster hangouts. The tour guide was a true local born and raised in Little Italy his knowledge is based on experience of growing up there and a passion for the history of the area. I'd thoroughly recommend this your to anyone interested in mafia history.

Thank you Eric for this amazing journey to the past! It was far more than Mafia stories romanticised in the movies. I never thought I'd be that interested.

We took 2 fascinating and fun tours - Jewish Lower East Side and Mafia. Both were led by a well informed and fascinating guide. The guide's in depth knowledge managed to bring history to life and put it into context making it relevant and exciting for us and our teenage children. Thoroughly recommended for anyone who wants to really get... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
