I finally went here and bought some really awesome editions of books that I could not find at B&N. There are so many books, and the shelves are so high it's quite overwhelming, but in a good way. I spent about two hours there and bought an armful of books, and could have bought more, and I my sister told... More

I usually make sure to hit up this bookstore whenever I'm in town. They always have used discount books out front along the side of the building, which I usually spend at least an hour browsing. They have a good selection of books in just about any category, and some nice notebooks worth checking out. The Strand is just a... More

New York City used to be a city with bookstores, new and used, in profusion. Sadly, the skyrocketing rental market is killing used bookstores, but the Strand is a survivor, and it is well worth a visit if you are at all interested in books. The staff, formerly famous for being surly and difficult, are now polite and helpful. The... More

I have no qualms about the books. This review is about their Strand branded tote bags. I've been a fan of the bookstore and like to stop by whenever I visit and have purchases several Strand tote bags over the years. Each time I visit, the prices of the bags increase but the designs get worse, the quality seems worse,... More

Went in on a very rainy day. Loved the bargain books, and the vibe. Could spend a whole day here! Will be back.

Acres of books from all over the world. New and pre-loved. Picked up a great out of print book on Frank Lloyd Wright for a friend. Could easily have spent half a day here. Rare books a treat to look through and great merchandise.

A great place to read. Strand Bookstore has so many books. It feels like a museum of books instead of art. They sell used and new books cheaper than the published price. It's amazing to walk around in see all the books. They also have funny quotes like "Get Lost in the Stacks" "Make America Read Again" and many more.... More

Used books ranging from 50 cents to $5 in mint condition. New books at excellent prices. Very helpful staff finding everything on our list. I think the 18 miles of books turned into 17 after we left.

Almost overwhelming but great signs and comments help. Spent quite awhile finding some fun $1.00 to $2.50 books on many racks out on sidewalk before making it inside. Anything you could think of is probably there. Left with bags full!
