Found Macy's more enjoyable. Went on Black Friday and Bloomingdales just didn't have any atmosphere.

Beautiful space belied the poor food. Good server, but when I told him about my poor Eggs Benedict, nothing. I ordered them with a Crab Cake, which was excellent. But the English muffin was raw and the eggs well done. A watered down Bloody Mary and $35.00 bucks later I left never to darken their door step again.

This is a fun place to go even if you don't plan on buying anything. It's fun to walk around and see the upscale shopping experience. I went in to buy a scarf and realized things were separated (at least on the ground floor) by designers. So I wasn't able to go to one place in the store and shop... More

My wife goes to the back of the women's dresses section & finds some really good buys. But really, the reason to go is just to "window" shop.... it's an old style department store with plenty of couturiers represented here. Fun to just wander & peek at the styles. And maybe find a bargain along the way.

Popped in here for a couple of presents (of the cheaper variety). It's so much nicer here away from the bustle of 5th Avenue! Mid morning Monday so we had the place to ourselves, most staff really helpful if only to point where the exit was... Plenty of sale goods on display but well laid out with signboards.

I just loved this store! I loved the assistants as they were so helpful and helped me find the perfect present to take home for my Mum. I also loved the fact that that there was a special little place for all the Brown bags of Bloomingdale's sales! I would love to have more time in this store but we... More

Was in NYC for work and decided to 'quick' pop-in to Bloomingdale's. Luck would have it that there was a sale so I spent a bit of time between a few of the floors. The store is clean, organized and always fully staffed. I left with a new items and a make-over from the Clarin's counter as well. Always a... More

Bloomingdales is iconic, however I can't help but think it's dated, not great choices for practice requirements and my thoughts on it being outdated is reflected in the clientele... It the mature/older generation NYorkers Went for brown socks, not one pair in site, none stocked there; for a really big department store, found this surprising. Went to Macys, I had... More

Great to visit the famous stare and buy some merchandise which was then placed in a little brown bag. Absolutely huge store with everything imaginable inside! A must visit just to see what the store has to offer if in the local area.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
