The area

Address
Neighborhood: Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

Each high end brand has its own little shop inside
I was expecting more holiday decorations on the exterior of the building, mostly decorated in the displays. Maybe there wmore to come after or around thanksgiving? I just see the big Christian Dior Saks sundial on the front 5th Avenue. Very colorful interior.

    Great store! Go during Christmas!
Saks Fifth Avenue is a great place to go in New York City during Christmas. The inside of the store is full of decoration while the windows and light show on the outside are phenomenal. I highly recommend! This year’s light show was amazing!

    Bright and beautiful holiday display.
The Saks exterior Christmas display is bright and beautiful. It is located near the Rockefeller Christmas tree (If you’re looking at the tree, just turn around and look behind you. You can’t miss it). The display comes alive every 15 minutes or after dark and the show lasts about 5 minutes. A must see while in NY for the holidays. If you are arriving in the area by bus or subway, get off at Times Square exit (Times Square port authority for the bus) and just walk over to 5th Ave. (About 10 minute walk.)

    Lavish holiday lights show
We love coming here for the holiday lights displays, and this year was no exception. It's a glorious display of lights every night for 3-5 minutes, and is not to be missed. The store itself is also lavishly decorated for the holidays and is a wonderland by itself as well. This store is right by Rockefeller Center, so if you're already in the area to admire the tree, then definitely come here as well.

    Saks is the best
I love this store. I usually spend the entire day and have lunch at the restaurant in the store…. The food is pricy but delicious… you can find everything and anything in this store….. I rather try things and see the merchandise in person when I am spending a lot of money on clothing as it is too difficult to order things online…..

    Famous department store
When in NY, visiting Saks 5th Avenue is a must! At Xmas, they have fantastic window displays, but in September there was nothing interesting to see in the windows. For people used to British shops, an American store is a shock, there is so little stock on display! Very spaced out and very small areas for each designer. Prices are wildly high though, so it's definitely for looking only and not buying!

I have not visited the shop myself, but bought dress online and shipped internationally. I am a costume designer and i needed the dress for a project, but due to shipment delay i had to return the dress so i can get my 3000$ back and thats where all the problems started. I wrote an email to cancel the shipment but Saks told me that its already on the customs and they cannot do that. I called the shipping company DHL to tell them my problem and they said to us, they are gonna take care of it, send it back. I never unpacked it, i have'nt even seen the package, it never crossed the borders. After month it started to be suspicious that we havent got refund yet so we sent couple of emails to Saks with no respond. I called DHL once again to be assured that package was delivered back to the store two weeks ago. I waited additional two weeks and then called their customer services. After 30 minutes of waiting the lady kept telling me that there is some kind of a problem and she has to call superior, that happened three times. I told them every information needed, order number, number of the shipment, even the name of the person that received the package. They told me that there was some kind of problem and they are gonna send me some kind of form to claim my refund. I told her im waiting for almost two months now to get my refund and i want my money back. That started to look suspicious, so i looked up reviews of the store to find out, that there is a bunch of people waiting for getting their refund or goods they ordered. I send them another email and even started chat on their website to be shutdown three times. Only thing that helped was opening dispute on PayPal. Luckily i got money back. Today! But I am never going to buy anything from this store again. Absolutely the worst customer services out there!!!

I passed by Saks Fifth Avenue in November 2019 and December 2019 to watch the Christmas light show. It is always spectacular and there is always a huge crowd watching it. Inside Saks Fifth Avenue was mobbed with Christmas shoppers.

If you are in the Rockefeller Center area then take a moment to check out this light display. It is outstanding. It is hard to believe that you can stand on a sidewalk and enjoy a light show on the façade of a building. But you will!! Music. Colours! Frozen! It was awesome. The light show plays routinely so stick around to check it out. To see this outside display is something you will never forget. We have seen it several times now and enjoyed it more and more each time.

We were lucky enough to be in NYC the night that the iconic Christmas display windows were unveiled. It's quite a show - entertainment, fireworks and then the big reveal. This season's theme was Frozen. Admittedly, the displays have become very commercial compared to decades past, but the artistry still brings the same holiday magic. The lighting of the building is amazing, too. A must-see in NY during the holidays.

We were in New York in the week before Christmas and the city is highly decorated, which is wonderful. There is magic everywhere you turn. However, the beautifully choreographed and orchestrated SAKS Christmas Light show really raises everyone's spirits and is absolutely fantatstic. If you visit over the festive period, make sure to catch it. You won't be disappointed.

My husband and I were walking toward Rockefeller Center Christmas tree when we heard music. We turned around and saw the facade of Saks Fifth Avenue light up with an amazing, beautiful light display along with wonderful music. It lasted about 5 minutes and was incredible!

They have cute lights and decorations right outside next to the Rockefeller center but upon entering you will see all kinds of high-end brands such as Coco Channel, Gucci, etc. The staff is very kind and helpful if you're looking for anything specific. If you're visiting to shop, items there will cost you a pretty penny. There are 3 floors once you enter.

I went inside Saks Fifth Avenue for a visit in December 2021. It actually was the first time I went inside Saks Fifth Avenue. Normally during my December visits to New York City I view the light show at Saks Fifth Avenue in the evening from the outside. But it was too crowded this year. Going inside for 30 minutes was a great experience. It was great to see all the upscale brand names. But 30 minutes to see it was enough. It was crowded and I did not go there to buy anything. I exited and went to attend mass at Saint Patrick's Cathedral.

Well We had previously been to Bloomindales and Macys but this store didnt get in the same league , staff were quite rude and dismissive or ignored us. I know it was christmas and busy but still no excuse. The layout semmed a liitle confused and no inventiveness and actually felt boring and run of the mill bit like Harrods is starting to get like.
So wont be going back, I wouldnt ever stop or prevent people going but if you had a choice of three then I would leave this out.

Okay since I can’t get Saks to respond to my emails and customer service requests I am running out of options so now trying a review. I placed an online order. I received it and it didn’t fit so I arranged to get a refund. A month after returning the item I still don’t have the refund and despite multiple emails and customer service chats I haven’t resolved it. This has been one of the worst customer experiences I have had. I will never shop here again! Last ditch effort to get help by posting a review
