Overview

From its inception, Macy's Herald Square was a store unlike any other. Over the past 150 years, it has become a true New York City icon. Built in 1902, Macy's Herald Square was the first building to have the modern-day escalator, and it has continued to be a trendsetter. Today, "America's Largest Department Store" covers an entire city block with 11 levels of the latest fashions for you and your home. Macy's offers a full-service Visitor Center on the Mezzanine Level, plus restaurants throughout the store and exciting events almost every day.

We were looking forward to having a look around the world famous store, which, according to my Eye Witness book, sold 'everything you could think of.' However, when we arrived, with a couple of exceptions, is simply a very big 'cloths shop'. Interesting going up...More

We made a tourist visit here as my wife wanted to see inside. It's simply huge, it was fun for a walk about but you can easily spend a lot of money too. Worth a visit.

Store undergoing considerable re-building work, so it was rather difficult to find what we wanted. It's enormous, with Ladies wear on three different floors! Staff extremely helpful.

When I travel to NYC I always make sure I stop by Macy's. I always find great deals, like a Polo sweater, regular price $95, via a sale and discounts I paid $25. The sales staff is always helpful.
