Most walking tours point and stare at New York-with Streetwise New York, you live it. We explore neighborhoods, recount history and study contrasts-uncovering the true New York, that's melted into pizza slices, hidden in subways, and carried in the ever-changing stories of its 8 million people. From the swankiest stretches of Fifth Avenue to the grimiest of graffitied alleys, we share tales passed down from our grandparents, gleaned from books, and whispered on street corners. Dan was very personable, and his tour was very interesting. I really enjoyed learning about the different neighborhoods and the history of each. I would definitely book another tour with Streetwise.

Patrick's walking tour was a high spot of our stay in NYC. We were very fortunate that it was free as part of our hotel stay, but we would happily have paid for the experience. He struck the right note of information around history, architecture, art and politics of the localities we explored.

I really enjoyed this small group walking tour with Dan. We met at the Pod & spent the morning walking, shopping, chatting and taking pictures. Dan is confident and knowledgeable; he gets just the right balance of "explore on your own" and "let's move on" with plenty of time for Q&A. We learned interesting bits about immigration, history, architecture, graffitti... More

Saved many hours walking around trying to find key New York locations. Very friendly team that created a relaxed atmosphere while still being very professional in their delivery.

We went to DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights. It was a fun tour with good backgrounds from the neighbourhood. This lets you see the area you are in with different eyes. An absolute MUST DO for every visitor to NYC. And Patrick was a good guide with lots of knowledge and stories.

I stayed at the Pod 51 Hotel and they offered daily tours with Streetwise. I took one the first morning and it was very good, they show you the real New York. Everybody knows that you need to visit the Central Park, the Empire State, 5th avenue, statue of Liberty, but you'll never know the real New York that way,... More

We took a walking tour through our hotel group (Triumph hotels) of Hell's Kitchen with Patrick. It was wonderful! It was one of the best walking tours I've been on. We didn't know a thing about Hell's Kitchen and Patrick did a great job of taking the time to explain all of the wonderful things about the neighborhood and its... More

I took three tours, all of them granted by the hotel. I really appreciated the "Brooklyn and Dumbo" and "East Village" ones. These tours are two-three hours long and they were a very effective way to get the neighbourhood's highlights, some stories and tips you hardly would get on your own.

We really enjoyed our 3 hour walking tour with Dan and highly recommend it to anyone! One person in our party was a bit apprehensive of the big city and I think Dan won him over! He made NYC very approachable. We learned a ton about New York and how it has evolved and he completely adapted to the needs... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
