We booked onto a tour from our hotel and were met by Greg
Cannot recommend enough. He gave us lots of information about the history of the area, things you just wouldn’t get from a guide book. From the deli that Madonna worked in to the building that refused to sell to the Rockefeller’s. He showed us old photos to see what was, and the story of the original mural in the centre was incredible. Wouldn’t hesitate to book a tour again

My husband & I traveled to NYC from Calgary, Canada end of November 2022. First off, we booked with Andrew who got us booked with our tour guide David L. with not much notice. Andrew was great in asking us questions on what we were looking for on our trip to NYC. We did a 6 hour customized private tour with David and it was incredible! Honestly it was the highlight of our trip to NYC. We didn't want to take a "touristy" tour, we wanted to be taken to hidden gems and David delivered. We learned so much of where we traveled, in lower Manhattan & Brooklyn. David shared the history and stories behind everywhere we went. David was incredibly knowledgeable and was great at asking us questions and communicating. Taking the subway everywhere was quick & easy. It got us comfortable to use the subway on our own for the remainder of our trip. Our tour day landed on a very rainy day. We were thrilled it wasn't canceled and David was a trooper to stick it out with us. There is just to many wonderful details to share in review. Hands down this was the best way to experience NYC. We have told everyone heading to New York that a tour with Streetwise as a must. We do recommend taking your tour the beginning of your trip because there are places you may want to travel back to later on. We couldnt imagine the tour going any better, even the rain was bonus as it wasn't busy to get around. We will definitely be doing a tour with Streetwise again on our next trip to NYC.

Twice I had a great time joining the Streetwise New York’s tours that we visited and walked around Greenwich Village and The High Line area, and Central Park and Upper West Side area.  I thought both tours were perfectly designed that besides well-known spots, they guided to minor but interesting spots and features with lots of fun stories.  And, needless to say, the guides in both tours presented not only deep knowledge of the tour areas, but also were like encyclopedias of New York that answered all of our questions.  So, while you hardly have to breathe, they would entertain you from the beginning to the finale of the tours.  Even if you have already been to New York, I highly recommend signing up for the tours, and you would rediscover or learn so many things about the amazing town of New York.  Have fun with Streetwise New York!

David, our guide for the tour of Grand Central and the famous buildings in the area, was outstanding. As a history major in college, he was a wealth of history of the buildings, the people who built them, and how the City has evolved in the 20th century. It was a free tour as guests of the Edison Hotel and certainly exceeded our expectations.

We did the Brooklyn Heights & DUMBO walking tour offered by POD Hotels. David was great! He took all the unexpected occurrences and made them work in spite of unplanned train and station closures.

He was knowledgeable and had old pictures to accompany his stories. He shared cool facts with the group like we were insiders learning deep secrets of NYC. We walked along streets that weren’t a part of the four, but turned out were great sightseeing spots in Brooklyn. Way to make the detours even more valuable!!

Loved his lighthearted humor and the scoop on restaurants and things happening in the city as they unfolded right before our very eyes.

Thanks for showing us the cool spots to take memorable pics and ensuring we made our way back to the hotel or onto our next sightseeing spot. A worthy walking tour indeed.

First pic is a peek of the Manhattan Bridge just passed the Brooklyn’s Post Office. The second pic is a capture of the Brooklyn Historical Society and a row of Brownstones with a rear view of David (tour guide).

Our guide Andrew was fantastic. He showed us the incredible diversity of Queens across two different areas (Jackson Heights and Astoria). The history and cultural make up of Queens is intriguing and interesting. After countless visits to New York (sticking to Manhattan) I had my eyes, ears and tastebuds opened to another fascinating part of the incredible city of New York, New York.

I am looking forward to another tour with Streetwise on my next trip back to New York.

We booked the Central Park tour through our hotel, The Pod by Times Square. Despite us being the only participants, Andrew was insistent that he run the tour for us. We're SO happy he did. Glimpsing that area of NYC through his eyes was so worthwhile. He pointed out things that we'd have never noticed, told us some great stories behind some iconic elements in the Park, and was just such a companionable person to spend a couple of hours with.

We had a wonderful time on our walking tour of Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO. I really appreciated the way Sonya was able to provide historical range, explaining what things original design use was, and tracking that to what we were Curitiba standing in front of. The stories she chose to tell were all engaging. I was also particularly impressed by the way she adjusted her explanations to provide context for those in our group that were not from the United States and so didn’t inherently know minutiae of US history. I didn’t want our tour to end— I would have happily listened and walked all day.

We had a great private three hour tour of the theater district, Times Square, and Grand Central Station with Ronny. We loved that Ronny met us at our hotel, and that the tour was just for our group of four. Ronny was quite knowledgeable and affable. Ronny did a great job teaching us how to use the subway! The price for the tour was more than reasonable given the amount of time we had with our guide and the fact that it was a private tour. I recommend this tour company highly, and plan to hire them again when we come back to New York!

Our tour guide picked us up at the Pod Hotel Times Square. He was very knowledgeable from the start including history right across the street from the hotel! We took the subway to the Upper East Side and entered Central Park at Strawberry Fields. By the way, if you are a first time user of the subway, it's a great and guided introduction to it. At every point along the way, we were given a history of the city neighbourhoods and areas. I was very impressed with the tour and highly recommend it. Travellers from Ottawa, Canada.
