Highly recommend this tour! Frank, our tour guide, was great from start to finish. He was informative and humorous with different stories (or fables) about the West Village and even helped respectfully stand up for me against some rabid Carrie Bradshaw fans. It was a lot of fun and I would definitely try another tour. Hopefully soon!

What a wonderful day!!! Such an interesting neighborhood, made even more fascinating by our "in the know" tour guide, Frank. (Request him if you can!) Such a funky, trendy, fascinating area. Beautiful Washington Square Park, and other neighborhoods that you normally would not explore. Amazing food, with Artichoke Pizza being my personal fave. I definitely plan on doing another tour... We've been to NYC many times and was looking for something "different" to do. We did the Midtown Food Truck Tour with Sidewalks of NY Tours Inc. It was really great. We left at noon and by the time we finished, we had sampled a lot of great food and called it "Linner" (Lunch and Dinner) since we were very... More

We took the Lower East Side Food tour for both a sampling of the foods in the area, as well as an historical perspective of the area. We weren't disappointed! Although My husband and I had been on this same tour a few years ago with our daughters, it was just as much fun doing it again with friends. I... More

This is a fantastic way to see a different part of New York - one without the skyscrapers. Our guide Frank was great - really informative and funny. We stopped at 8 different places on the Lower East Side tour, and ate food we had previously never even heard of! This was also a great way to get a teenager... More

Matthew was a fantastic tour guide who provided lots of interesting neighborhood info. as we ate our way through the Lower East Side. All of the foods were delicious, so we were thankful that the tour involved a lot of walking so we could burn some calories. My 14 year old son loved the bialys and doughnuts so much that... More

I enjoyed this tour because it covered most of the iconic eateries still left on the Lower East Side. There were 8 stops with a sufficient amount of food. My favorite was the pastrimi at Katz's, The guide was informative, knowledgable and friendly.

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
