Top ways to experience Artechouse NYC and nearby attractions

The area
Address
Neighborhood: Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighborhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighborhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighborhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.

    Cool immersive visual experience
I have seen two different exhibits here and really enjoyed both of them, it’s one of the better fully immersive experiences where there are visuals surrounding the experience. It’s really close to Chelsea Market so you can make a day of it and get drinks or a bite to eat and have this be the entertainment piece. There is no rush when you go in so if you like immersive, drop in visual experiences where you can sit, meditate and reflect I highly recommend. I think I stayed about 30-40 minutes each time.

    Lovely art graphics/ Terrible employees
While I gave it an average rating I would still suggest going because it is a unique experience and worth the trip and $. The tech art is beautiful and awesome to watch. The reasons for my average review 1. RUDE employees; it was our first time visiting the venue and my husband inquired about the proper pronunciation to which he received the response, “It’s said just as it would be sounded out by a 5 year old.” They asked us to have a seat to wait for entry (which we promptly did and were the only ones waiting) then a few minutes later asked us to come into the introduction area at which time they THEN told us we could download the interactive app (something we could have easily been doing while we were waiting) adding that the download wouldn’t take long and would be complete by the time the intro was complete. Of course, it wasn’t so we were still trying to get it downloaded while walking in ( So FYI- download the app while waiting). 2. Poor directions; She (rude girl) tells us that there are “stickers” to find and to point phone at to see the special interactive gifts (which were cool). FYI they’re not stickers or if they are they don’t fit the typical classification of a “sticker.” 3. It’s only one room.
Hi Angela, Thank you for your feedback. We love to hear that you truly enjoyed the art + tech element and uniqueness of ARTECHOUSE. On the flip side, I am very sorry to hear about the other aspects of your visit. If you have a quick moment, would you mind emailing me at feedback@artechouse.com so we can help make this right for you? I very much want to do this, so I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you

Cool, but not what we expected
This is pretty cool visual and auditory experience, but it’s not what we expected based on the description we read. We thought it would be interesting to learn about the brain via an innovative media. There were a couple of smaller displays that looked cool, but either we were unable to figure out how to interact with them or they actually didn’t do anything except look very high tech. The main exhibit was on a very large scale and really mesmerizing. There were a few benches, but if it’s at all busy when you go, be prepared to either stand, or sit or lie on the floor.

I’m not BLUE at all it was Wonderful
What a wonderful mind expanding experience. This was a terrific and unusual art experience. I thought it was a little pricey but so unusual that I am really happy to have participated in This event. I am an artist and regularly work with color, even on electronics, but have never experienced the totality of any color the way in which I have now experienced BLUE.
Good afternoon, We are so glad that you had a good time, and that we inspired some color puns! We really love sharing these unique and even unusual experiences with our visitors. Keep in mind that ticket sales not only support the space, but support the artists that we work with as well, something we are very proud to do. Hopefully we will be seeing you again very soon for another immersive art + tech experience!

If you REALLY want to go, get a Groupon .
A strong congratulations to whoever wrote the text for the website, you did a good job selling a room full of obnoxiously loud people and projectors presenting Windows XP screensavers! Seriously, this place is definitely an overhyped visitation. The main expedition is a 20 minute looping projector screen. There are three other “exhibits” which are semi-interactive TVs that can be entertaining for about two minutes. The main exhibit is lackluster, as the room is 80 degrees Fahrenheit from the projectors, the floor is the only place to sit, and any attempt at becoming immersed in the art is lost due to the people talking and taking scandalous Instagram photos. The opportunity cost of $26 and 30 minutes is far from “worth it”. Its content, at best, is suited for an exhibit for a real museum. For half the price and a limit on how many people can go in, it’d be a lot more enjoyable. If you’re in Chelsea, make your way to the Starbucks Reserve (1 of 6 in the world) on 15th. A lot less money and a much better experience.

Color choice of the year - BLUE
For travelers like my wife and I who spend the entire day exploring, this was the perfect way to relax and enjoy some seriously creative visuals that put us in a calming mood. The Artechouse in NYC is more visually appealing compared to the ones in Washington and Miami as they are more interactive with the audience. However, this is located in the Chelsea Market area, so its the perfect location to have a unique art experience then explore the hip neighborhood with great selection of restaurants! The visuals go for about 30 minutes before they are looped back to the beginning so the entire experience would around 30 minutes.

Exhibit may have been called BLUE but I left tickled Pink
I have been there 2x and loved it both times. The immersive art exhibit is amazing to see and with new artists all the time you can keep going back for new experiences. The graphics and music work together to make you feel like you are in the art. The price is also amazing for a city experience. Upstairs there is interactive graphic art that you can control by touchless body cameras which was super cool. The staff was friendly but they take their jobs seriously. There is 0 tolerance for recording long videos (copy right for the artists) and they are on top of everyone keeping their masks on to keep everyone safe. Excellent spot for photos 10/10 would recommend.

    Feel like I've been robbed!
I rarely write reviews but feel like I've been robbed so want to warn others! Absolute rip off for what you get. It's ONE ROOM, and I'd say worth 10 dollars at a real push, definitely not 25. I work in museums and digitisation and would be embarrassed if I worked there, the quality was very low too. It looks as though the quality of previous displays may have been better (although not larger!)... the one at the moment is tacky Christmas imagery, and I like Christmas! I've never been to something so over hyped, and with giant exit signs, no effort to use the ceiling, and giant columns it's not immersive either. Oh and for a supposed capacity of over 300 people there's only one toilet! Save your money for the proper immersive art exhibitions on these days like Van Gogh, Monet etc
Hi Holly, We are sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations. Our intention with this exhibition was to create an engaging experience, centered on cutting-edge technology, our in-house XR app (which enables customers to unlock extra content to win a prize), and the 22- minute Immersion Gallery journey through 9 magical holiday worlds. The goal of each exhibition is to present intricate and imaginative visual and audio journeys at the highest resolution possible. That said, I recognize that this was not your experience. If you have a quick moment, would you mind emailing me at feedback@artechouse.com so we can help make this right for you? I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you

Cool but not enough for the price
The experience was cool but not worth the price. Had it been $10 per person I would say yes, it was worth it, but my main issue was my hype vs the reality of the exhibit. The website does not specify that showing is just one large room. I expected several rooms of cool visual experiences. I also paid extra for date night bar drinks which I didn’t even buy due to lack of options. A generic bar along with the specialty drinks would be a nice touch. I also wasn’t a fan of the giant pillars blocking the view depending on where you sit. Overall, I think I would have enjoyed it more had the website given me more specific expectations.
Hello Aiden. Thank you for visiting ARTECHOUSE. We are sorry to hear that you did not have a positive experience in our space. Given that our space used to be a 100 year old boiler room, unfortunately there is nothing we can do about the pillars that we have inside the space. If you would like to give us any more feedback, please reach out to feedback@artechouse.com.

I had such an amazing experience. We came as a group of 4. We had all gone to the DC location since we have been there before. Front desk person helped us get a discounted ticket for first responders and then we went in. It is self guided but there was people who help once you get inside and answer questions. The bar drinks were delicious. All of us had 1 different drink and they will get you woooozy! It is also in Chelsea market! Will be returning.

A disappointing experience. Despite arriving in good time we had to wait and queue for a long time, which had no real justification except artificially to create a long queue and with that attract more customers. The hype delivered on arrival is totally unsupported by the experience, which is NOT 'interactive' in any sense of that word, nor is it 'immersive' . Just a video show in a large room, with good use of colours and a chance to sit on the floor, but that doesn't justify either the price or the queueing!

We visited Artechouse in Manhattan on May 25, 2021. There are other installations in Miami and Washington DC. As I understand, each is different, created by a different artist, specifically suited to the venue. We were absolutely blown away. Imagine being inside a kaleidoscope or Lava Lamp. I do not know how to describe it better. Their website does a good job of giving you a taste. Perhaps it is similar to the popular, immersive Van Gogh exhibit making the rounds. In any event, do not miss this.

Total waste of money paid 40 USD each and was a total waste of money literally stayed for 20 minutes was just a big large room that looks like a basketball room with 4 different like exhibits of art was so boring and nearly fell asleep. would not waste your money or visit here and its daylight robbery. Compared to the natural history museum whee we paid 30 usd and this was so interesting, this was just disappointing and was not what I was expecting. I thought it would have interactive screens and more dooms but just for one its not worth the price should be 15 usd not 40 USD!!!!!!!!
