The boat tour was great and worth the $.

Our highlight was Damian the guide and narrator. Great story teller of the history of the waterfront, bridges, Burroughs, Statue of Liberty, Governors Island, Ellis Island and more. What was even better was his personal experiences sprinkled in as a lifelong New Yorker.

My fam with young kids had a great time!

Had a really good time, staff were friendly and supportive of my auntie who has slight mobility issues. The guide was very knowledgeable. Got very close up to The Statue of Liberty and got some great pics. For $24 each, it was really worthwhile.

The cruise was structured well for people who could not/did not want to visit the Ellis island. One could see Newyork skyline very well. The guide pointed out all the relevant structures/ monuments. The cruise was overall very good.
But, in my next trip I would like to go to the island to view the statue of liberty in daylight.

I don't mind that there is no food or drink available but they really should communicate better about the last stops and pickups, and single check in location. The trip from Pier 79 to Battery Park was quicker than we expected so this is more of a taxi than a scenic cruise. We got off, walked to the WTC then returned later only to realize the last pickups at Battery Park won't take you back to Pier 79; only 1 stop down to Brooklyn Bridge. So we paid $110 for 3 people to take a taxi ride from nowhere to Battery Park. Our overseas relative missed out on the Statue of Liberty. Next time we'll take a land taxi and pay for a traditional cruise. At least we were lucky. Several passengers tried to board with tickets purchased at Battery Park from a fraud agent for over $100. NYWT should also communicate better that tickets are only sold at and passengers must start / check-in at Pier 79, and better monitor the remote pickup locations for thieves.

To date, I have all good things to say about all of the tours that my husband and I took in New York City but on May 8, 2018, we had the WORST tour guide ever and it ruined a tour that was on a beautiful day and should have been a great memory. It was not. We didn't even leave time square before TOM the money obsessed former wall street trader from New Jersey, made sure we learned very little about the city except HOW MUCH EVERYTHING COSTS and how Stupid many things were. I know the price of renting everything but little else. He never said when we were moving so people separated by accident many times. He didn't even notice. Tour Members looked out for each other. We didn't know which side was best to be on the ferry for Staten Island so pictures didn't happen. The topper was the 9/11 memorial. He criticized every design, put a price tag on every building, emphasizing the empty offices and the waste, and commiserated that NYC residence shouldn't have to pay for this waste and ill designed and populated (because the stores were all wrong too). He didn't even reference the fire station that is right nearby. It has a beautiful wall with hope and inspiration and loss all represented on the wall. Instead he complained about the cost and the burden to NYC residence. (60.5 billion tourists visit the city and I am guessing contribute a lot to the tourist attractions but he didn't even consider that). He snapped at me when I called it "Ground Zero." He made us feel like only New Yorkers corner the market on the loss on 9/11. He was disrespectful, arrogant and so obsessed with the price of EVERYTHING. The tour was good, AS LONG AS TOM IS NOT YOUR GUIDE. Wasted money. We went later and visited everything. We should have skipped this one. Wish there was a category WORSE that POOR. That was this guided tour.

There is nothing VIP about this tour! It is a short helicopter flight with a very customer unfriendly operator and a totally separate boat trip with a regualr water taxi. You need to get from one to the other by yourself and the times are not coordinated so you are left waiting in the cold for more than an hour. Beside this the water taxi does not know anything about the advertised 'VIP' mimosa/champagne toast at the statue of Liberty so I would NOT recommend this tour to anyone!

This tour booking is a joke. I booked it through TripAdvisor and paid for it. The directions say it departs from pier 79 w39 &12th. It no longer starts there. No signs. I asked several NY Waterway employees and they said it is at pier 82. I went to pier 82 and waited over an hour and well after the published last tour of the day, a Water Taxi showed up. An employee of Water Taxi said it was one way drop off only. I asked about the tour and he said that taxi is at pier 79. This is a run around/scam or something. I called the Water Taxi number and their automated call menu has an option for directions and states pier 79. I finally got a petson and asked what was going on. He apologized and said it's messed up. I told him the directions are wrong on the automated call menu.
I am contacting TripAdvisor viator for a refund.

We have done harbor cruises all over the world. Always received good value without being disappointed. This was no exception. Good guide with great information. Extra time spent positioning the water taxi for the best Statue of Liberty pictures. Guide was happy to take family photos with statue in back. Book it you won't be disappointed!

Attended the 11:15 cruise August 11, 13 and had a poor experience. The cruise out of pier 16 was overcrowded due to a number of very aggressive tour groups who attended. We paid in advance for priority booking. the line up was through a number of barriers and we stood for almost an hour in line. When the gates opened the crowd at the back started climbing over the barriers to get on board first for the best seats. It was mayhem. Then on board we were told to sit down but as soon as the boat left the deck, everyone came to the top deck and fought over the railings. No one could see anything and there was much pushing and shoving over the railing positions. It was impossible to get photos of the Statue of Liberty. Likely a nice experience if the numbers were better managed by the sales staff. but this was oversold to tour groups who were aggressive and pushy. This created a poor and possibly dangerous experience.

My hands have hovered over the keyboard for several minutes now, waiting as I rewound to the 4th July in all its splendour. I now realise why there are so few reviews of the fireworks cruises on Trip Advisor as I find myself struggling to find words to describe how magical this experience was. Have you ever seen something which is so amazing that it is hard to believe that it is real? Well, that's how it was with the fireworks. Truely jaw dropping....something which everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.

I, on the other hand, have been extremely fortunate, and have experienced the 4th July fireworks from the Hudson River TWICE!!

The first time (a couple of years ago) was aboard the New York Water Taxi. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip...everything about it was perfect - including the individual buffet boxes for us to eat during the cruise. However, this year we decided to upgrade a little and try the Zephyr experience.

Yes, it was slightly more expensive, but we chose this option because of the availability of outside seating (the Zephyr has more than the Water Taxi), and the description of the food and drinks offered. The Zephyr also had a disco on board and, although not our scene particularly, seemed to complete the package.

The entire experience, from start to finish was superb. The boat was deliberately only sold at half capacity to allow all passengers the best opportunity to see the fireworks display.Once through the security checks and on board we were gently transported along the Hudson River, past the stunning Manhattan sights, to take up our position and await darkness and the beginning of the firework display (approx 9.10pm). During this time we received limitless complimentary soft drinks to accompany the wonderful finger buffet food which the staff served among us. Later in the evening (before the fireworks), the hot buffet was served. The choice was vast and beautifully presented, although in my opinion no where near hot enough, but I guess it's not an easy task.

So, to the fireworks....... imagine if you can, the vastness of the sky, as if it were a huge widescreen TV, with the backdrop of the Manhattan skyline, and then add half ah hour of explosions of colour so vivid and liquid, falling like rain through velvet, all syncronised to music. Magical, you have to see it for yourself!

Once the display was over, there was plenty of opportunity to dance inside where the DJ was continuing the fabulous party atmosphere. The bar remained open, and more food seemed to be circulated as we made our way back to the pier tired but VERY happy.

So, would I recommend this experience? Too right I would!
Would I opt for the Water Taxi or the Zephyr? Both are superb, but for me the Zephyr has the advantage regarding seating and food - although it IS more expensive.

Whichever you choose you can't fail to enjoy it!
