I decided to book this tour after asking my tour guide, Astrid, if she had any really good food reccomendations, (this was right after the Hamilton Tour ended, also high reccomend it!) She mentioned that a food tour was taking place on the following Saturday and that she thinks I'd really enjoy it. Well she was right. The tour guide that Saturday was Alex and he was glad to see me there and said that Astrid had mentioned to him that I would be on his tour.

Alex was an amazing tour guide, happy to answer any questions anybody in our group had. He took an interest in everyone in our group and was happy to offer his suggestions about places to eat. Our first stop was in Chinatown where we had pork dumplings. The shop owner was out of the vegetarian dumplings, but without skipping a beat, Alex went to a bakery a few doors down and got some alternative samples for the vegetarians on our group. He explained in detail the progression of the influx of immigrants and how each group influenced the area.

During our stop in Little Italy, he was more than happy to stop and let some in our group shop and take pictures, as many as we wanted. Personally, this was my favorite stop on the tour, because he took us to taste some of the best pizza I've had, hands down. (Upside Pizza btw, if anybody was wondering). He explained what makes the pizza special and different from the rest, and how it's his personal favorite.

Our third stop was at Yonah Schimmel's for some sweet and savoury knishes. I wasn't too much of a fan of the sweet knish, the savoury was definitely a bite I'd order again. Alex took the time to explain the history of the shop and the surrounding neighborhoods.

The last stop on our tour was at Loreley Biergarten in what used to be Little Germany where we sampled bratwurst and German pretzels.

This trip, being my first time in NYC, it was nice to have someone explain the history and show sides of the city that most tourists don't get to experience. Alex was such a knowledgable and fun tour guide to have. I'm really glad I was able to be a part of this tour and I'd defintely reccomend it to anyone who wants to try getting a tour of not so touristy areas of NYC as well as getting an awesome food tour!

We were 5 people and we did a tour of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, parts of Downtown and a food tour of Downtown Manhattan. 2 of us are from NYC and we had family from Spain 🇪🇸 with us that have never seen some of these places. It was a cold day but ended up being a beautiful experience. The guide was knowledgeable and also gave us tips that could help enhance our experience as we started early in the morning and went on till mid day. After a lot of walking and history learning the delicious 😋 food in the end was amazing. I was the only person gluten-free and they accommodated me at each restaurant to be able to try something from NYC local restaurants. What was even more interesting one of the places we visited is sustainable in how they prepared the food, serve, deliver and even on how they handle garbage. Over all a great experience of history, novelty and delicious local food. I recommend this tour company now even after the pandemic. Everyone was wearing masks 😷

Our guide Mickey for the Tenements, Tales and Tastings Tour was very knowledgeable and had personal ties to Little Italy! She shared relevant aspects of the immigrant experience on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. My three sisters and I enjoyed exploring "hole in the wall" places in Chinatown and Little Italy which we otherwise would have missed without an experienced guide. Mickey maintained a perfect pace and the small size of the group allowed for interaction and questions/answer time. Highly recommend for a "first tour" in Manhattan since the early immigrant experiences are so important to an understanding of NYC. Pair this tour with a visit to the Tenement Museum on Orchard Street, and you will know much more than most visitors to The Big Apple! Our only suggestion is to finish the tour with a sweet instead of savory taste of Manhattan (perhaps we suggest this because all four of us have sweet tooths!!!) Thank you, Mickey, for an outstanding tour!

Our guide, Mickey Pantano, was incredibly knowledgeable about the city, locations, and food genres being toured — along with a supremely gifted narrator for our wonderful trip. We must’ve walked about 3 miles and covered Civic Center, Chinatown, Little Italy, Lower East Side, and others to discover wonderful cuisine and restaurants we otherwise wouldn’t have known. This is the third tour we’ve done with this company — all have been outstanding but this was the best guide, locations, and itinerary. Wonderful for out of Towners or local Manhattanites like us.

Greg was our guide and we like him a lot. My brother and me take the Hamilton Tour without knowing nothing about musical broadway, and not knowing so much about information about U.S history.
Greg was a very good storyteller, caption all our attention , make good jokes and very friendship.
By far, our best tour in new york.
By lucky, with my brother were the only ones in the group tour , so we enjoy a lot. Greg also talks with words, that we're able to understand (we're not native english speakers).

A+. Brian was our expert tour guide for the 3 hour Brownstone Brooklyn Food Tour. We opted for a private tour, so it was just our 15 and 18 y/o daughters, my wife, and I.

Brian is a food blogger and very personable. He had a great understanding of the small Brooklyn neighborhoods he took us though and the history behind the food and establishments he shared with us. Having one vegetarian and one pescatarian, he catered to us, as well as taking us to coffee and boba places at our request.

Being away from tourists and in the calm, refreshing, shaded streets was a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of busier parts of the city.

An enjoyable morning on our lower east side historical and food tour! Easy walk through parts of the city while Mickey kept us entertained with fun facts and interesting historical stories on sights we passed and visited. The food we sampled was amazing and a treat to the many wonderful flavors avialable in NYC. Highly recommend this tour and our guide Mckey.

We went on the Hamilton tour and learned so much about the Wall Street area. Our tour guide Alex was very knowledgeable. I’d definitely recommend this tour if you’d like to learn what NYC was like 250 years ago.

A beautiful autumnal morning in NYC was the perfect setting for a very interesting tour with our fabulous guide, Mickey. Full of enthusiasm, and delicious Babka cake from the start, Mickey was very knowledegable about NY culture. Definitely recommend this insight. We were not hungry at the end of the three hours either!

Tenements, Tales and Tastings Tour with Mickey in New York City. This was one of the highlights of our 5 day trip. Mickey, our guide, was outstanding! Her local knowledge was informative, her wit infectious. I highly recommend this tour; always ask for Mickey. The walking tour was easy, the local food tastings yummy, but mainly the history of these areas of New York City was a highlight.
