The formidable singers made the audience participate with clapping. Just like in the movies 😉. Just a warning, if you book with Go Appointment, and they tell you that a guide is waiting for you at a metro stop, look at the emails they send you from the community, because it happened to us that we were waiting and, then, it turns out that we had to go alone , although it was close, so no problem but we arrived with the show started. The rest. Brilliant. One hundred percent recommended

Our guide Sadie took us through the Harlem gospel tour in an informative and fun way. We sang songs with her about the origin of gospel songs. Very good singer as well as a good guide. He told us very interesting anecdotes. We expected something more from the mass, since there was no gospel choir, only a soloist (who sang very well by the way). The mass seemed long and we left early.

Tom led a great tour. Well balanced so that everyone benefitted. I took the tour after having read the book, "The Great Bridge," about all that went into construction of the Brooklyn Bridge, so wanted to see and experience what I had read about. It was an amazing feat at the time, and even more amazing how use of the bridge has evolved over time. The day was overcast and a bit rainy, which wound up being perfect, as it was comfortable and not overcrowded. DUMBO was also interesting. I would say this is a must tour if you have a week or more in NYC (after hitting the traditional tourist venues, like the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Central Park, Empire State Building, Times Square, etc. Inside Out was easy to book, easy to locate, and well-led. I would use them again.

We just got back from a 7 day trip and purchased the 4 day New York City Pass. Be aware you will require to stay in line for a few of the tours, i.e. 9-11 Musuem they are closed on Tuesdays and you have to wait on line to get a pass, and the Top of The Rock which was awful bc there was a two hour waiting to go up top and the staff was very rude. We LOVED visiting Edge and going on the Ride. The Madame Tussauds Museum was fantastic and their hours of operation are extensive so that you may go in the evening. The Open Bus Tour was fun but the Red line is much better then the blue. The pass is very expensive!

First problem was that they couldn’t figure the billing the NY Pass out. Next they canceled our slot without giving us the 48 hour window to straighten it out. Then I reserved with cash to save the two spots. I show up and present the NY Passes that they then accept but they keep 10% of the cash I paid to reserve the slots! Are you kidding me?!

Finally, let’s talk about the tour… we arrived 30 minutes early but are told we can’t go with the first group as they were here 15 minutes early… so we wait around in the pooring rain while the guide fumbles with her phone and three list of reservations. When we finally take off she spends far to much time talking about things she has no clue about and showing pictures on her iPad that only a few in the group are close enough to see. The group steadily drops one family at a time. We signed up for the Christmas markets not a history of rich New Yorkers at the turn of the century and buildings that are no longer there.

Good Morning and thank you for taking the time to critique our Christmas Lights and Holiday Markets Tour. We unfortunately had a cold rainy day. The Guide was very diligent in trying to get all checked in however we were have issues with a technology glitch. The Guide offered everyone to step inside out of the rain during the process. The History of New Yorkers and along the tour root is showing how they established many of the current customs of decorating and becoming traditions with the Plaza and multiple Wealthy Families former homes. The Holiday markets were gone to and the experience of seeing the decorations and lights were all achieved. Several families did shorten their tours but did inform the guide due to conflicts of schedule and wanting to stay at St Patrick's for Mass. The Guide received many good compliments on this same tour. We do apologize that you did not enjoy your experience. Regarding the NY Pass, we noticed that two of the four passes were not NY Pass (not any types of passes we accept) 4 days before the tour, and we did contact your group leader. After we asked and called regarding the passes, she said you are going to pay for the tour, and then we opened new spaces for you. Somehow you showed the passes on the day of the tour, although our tours are non-refundable, we did agree to refund you with a charge to cover the transaction fee. It seems your group leader didn't communicate well with you regarding the passes.

Last week I took a group of college-aged finance students to New York for a corporate tour. All are hoping to work in the finance industry in NYC when they graduate. As part of the experience, I booked a private "How Money Was Made" group tour with Inside Out. The only negative to the experience was the rain - which was out of anyone's control. If weather does happen to pop up on your tour, there is a Walgreens on the side of the Museum of the American Indian (meeting spot) that sells ponchos and

Despite the weather, our guide, Kevin, was excellent and managed to keep the students engaged and interested for the duration of the tour. He shared a lot of great history and knowledge relating to the founding of financial trade, industry crisis, how New York City became a hub for trading, and key sites relating to finance in the area. He carried an iPad with him to share historical pictures with us to put everything into context and let us see some of the figures who were instrumental in developing the industry. I learned quite a bit during the tour and I think that several of students were even surprised at how many new things they learned, not only about Wall Street, but the financial industry in general. Kevin gave some great analogies too, including one that helped with remembering how to tell the difference in a Bull vs. Bear market. I also personally enjoyed our stop at the World Trade Center location. Both Kevin and I shared our own experiences and memories during 9/11 with the students, and while all were born after 9/11 happened, they were still very interested in learning about the day and how it shaped the financial district and industry to what it is now.

We were a few minutes late to the meeting spot, but Kevin was very patient with us even given our delay. He texted to confirm our status, then called when we ended up on the wrong side of the building meeting point and even walked around to meet us where we were to ensure we connected. He really was very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. He was also more than happy to answer any of the student’s or my questions. I greatly appreciated having him as our guide and his positivity in general. I frequently take tours when I travel, so have had many guides, and can say I would be happy to have him as a guide again!

Julia was a wonderful tour guide for the Holiday Markets Tour this afternoon! She was personable, warm, and passionate about the information she was delivering. She kept things light and funny, yet was still able to effectively deliver interesting facts from a historical standpoint and a local/native New Yorker standpoint. The tour itself is long because there’s quite a bit of walking, but with that, it allows for “free time” in the markets and to check out some of the most popular Christmas sites in the city. We found this helpful so we could choose which sites we’d like to spend more time in before our vacation ended, and which we felt like we could totally check off and be happy about. It was a well-rounded tour! Thank you to Julia and Inside Out tours for helping two Michiganders experience some NYC Christmas magic!

Impressive tour. Informative and filled with facts that should be part of our city’s (and country’s) dialogue. Will recommend to friends looking for a combination of increased awareness, city history, and knowledgeable tour guides.

It was a very divisive experience that we had there. Actually, the first part of the tour in Harlem streets was very interesting we have learnt a lot of things but then…it becomes terrible. Before entering the church we had been told it is a church where Harlem locals are used to come for the mass. When you finally get in you see a full audience of tourists and a few locals on the front seats. The mass seemed totally parodic as - surprise, surprise - it was the minister’s birthday and there was a child to baptize…That’s what I call a tourist-trap. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Thank you for taking the time to do a review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed the walking portion of our Harlem Gospel Tour. We regret that you did not enjoy the Church service. The congregation is very mixed and attendance does vary week to week. Many of the parishioners do watch the services via a Zoom link due to the aftermath of Covid. I would think that anyone that can experience the celebration of their minister's birthday and a member's child's baptism is something to be cherished and shared by the congregation and guests. We have many reviews where people loved the music and experience.

If you have a few days in New York I recommend you try and squeeze this tour into your itinerary.
It’s not all razzmatazz—-all cities/cultures have dark secrets/pasts.
It’s not too sobering—-it’s a good walk around and you get to learn stuff you probably didn’t know about. Sean was a great guide in difficult circumstances in that we walked through a minor blizzard. Very knowledgeable and engaging.
Highly recommended 👍👍👍
