We came across Sarah Funk on YouTube as her vlogs were always so informative on every aspect of New York City, and helpful hints for us as tourists visiting.
When we saw she did a food tour of Brooklyn, we knew that this would be the first attraction we would book on our (long awaited) New York trip from Scotland.
Luis (her husband) conducted our tour on that cold Sunday afternoon and his enthusiasm and local knowledge was great. He told lots of great stories and shared with us some very cute photos of his beautiful baby daughter, Bella. We had been to NYC a few times, including a few hours walking around in Dumbo, and considered ourselves quite au fait but Luis gave such a vivid description of how life was way back in time, and the history of the popular foods now eaten in Brooklyn.
We enjoyed falafel, pizza, tacos, pancakes & ice cream at all the local vendors and we were completely full by the time we scoffed the fab ice cream at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory at the end of the tour
This is a tour worth taking, it’s great value for money, Luis is a very likeable guy and we will remember that tour with much affection.

So this is one of the best tours our family has ever taken. It was fun but also educational. My wife and I have been visiting New York for over fifty years and we loved the tour and learned a bunch. My son who is 17 and has been visiting New York for his whole life also loved the tour. It is pretty hard to please that age range but Sarah was able to do it.
The pacing was perfect and the balance of information was ideal. Sarah took some outstanding photos of us. At the end of our tour, we mentioned that we were going to look for some Chinese food and Sarah called up a friend who is an Asian food expert and had recommendations to us in just a few minutes.
If you like taking tours when visiting cities, as we do, then you will find this tour to be very enjoyable. If you never or rarely take city tours, then this is also ideal because of Sarah's fun but informative style and I would highly recommend it.

We went on a food tour in Brooklyn with Luis. We started off with the most amazing, authentic falafels at an Egyptian cafe, then ate pizza at Grimaldi's, followed up with delicious street tacos, and wrapped it up with fresh, seasonal ice cream! All the food stops were delicious, and Luis shared very interesting stories about the Brooklyn neighborhoods, buildings, and other history along the tour. He was very knowledgeable, personable, and took the time to learn all our names and make us feel welcome. We probably would not have known to visit the inner streets of Brooklyn and all of these restaurants if it weren't for this tour. 10/10 highly recommend on your next NYC trip!

Booked a private tour for three people (including one with accessibility needs) with Luis, who was wonderfully relaxed, supremely knowledgeable and warmly accommodating. His gentle and smooth manner produced the most friendly and enjoyable tour experience we've ever had. He showed us around Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO, bringing the history (and mythology) of the buildings, streets and businesses back to life. He timed things perfectly so we hit the most picturesque spots around sunset and he took us to some idyllic lesser-known places. If you are looking for a tour, I strongly recommend this small business.

I have long enjoyed Sarah’s excellent YouTube videos, and on a trip to NYC in March 2020, I took the food tour with Luis. And then last week, on my return to NYC, I had the pleasure of doing private tours with both Sarah and Luis. These tours were highlights of this trip. My tour of Midtown Manhattan with Luis included terrific sites along Fifth Avenue, in the Theatre District and Hell’s Kitchen. My tour with Sarah involved delving into the history of Harlem and seeing some very scenic but less-frequently-visited parts of Central Park. If you’re looking to explore NYC and have your visit to these cool locations accompanied by fascinating, well-researched commentary, I highly recommend checking out the experiences Sarah and her team have on offer. I will definitely tour again with them on my next trip to NYC and I recommend their tours to anyone I know who is travelling to the city.

The tour was awesome, we have some family members that only spoke Spanish so it was great for us. Very informative and the food was delicious. Lui was great, he answered all the questions we had, was energetic and passionate during the tour, we can’t wait to learn more about the city with Lui, highly recommended.

As it was my first time in NYC I did what alot of people my age would do, I looked up no YouTube things to check out in New york. Thats when I saw a things to do list for 2022 by Sarah Funk. Not only was that video great for tips and locations, in the video she recommenced doing a food tour, one where it would be smaller groups and lead by a local. This is where I signed up for the food tour.

Luis, who led the tour, was right on time, and greeted me with a friendly smile and highly contagious optimistic personality. Our group only consisted of three people taking the tour, but this led to having a more personal interaction with our tour guide. The other two that joined our group were locals who have lived here too, but they were able to try food and learn about things they didn't know! Luis was very knowledgeable and presented the information in a very professional way. But he was also not just a robot listing off facts but more in a way where a group of friends are just hanging out. This is highly more enjoyable as it felt like we were with a true person rather than a robot just reading a list.

Now the sights and information we seen were only overshadowed by the food we ate. Falafel, pizza (my first new york pizza), tacos, pancakes, and to end it all off ice cream! I highly recommend anyone to take this tour, and will be recommending it to any of my friends who plan on visiting. Heck if I come back for a future visit I will be sure to take the tour again.

Thanks again Sarah and Luis!

We loved our private tour with Sarah! My husband and I came to NYC to meet up with our adult children who live nearby. As this was our first time in New York, we loved having a local like Sarah show us places to find music, art and food we were specifically interested in, as well as how to best navigate the city. Sarah was so friendly and knowledgeable about local history, and the beautiful photos she took are some of the best souvenirs of our trip. We would highly recommend a private tour with Sarah❤️

My college age daughter and her boyfriend took the May 1 Secrets of New York tour while I hung out at South Street Seaport waiting for them (old man knees aren’t up for a long walking tour). They loved seeing parts of New York they’ve never seen before and I was fortunate enough to meet the tour organizers: Sarah and Luis and their baby Isabella (I’ve been following her YT channel for years and I suggest you check it out for NYC tourist info - search for Sarah Funk) as the tour came through South St. Seaport - they were bringing a new tour guide on board (I believe his name was Marcus but I could well be mistaken) whom my daughter said was informative, friendly and very engaging. I’ve been going to NY for some 50+ years and even I discovered a few factoids I wasn’t aware of. I highly recommend this tour to anyone that really wants to see the heart of old New York - where streets took their name from their function.

Just an awesome "Secrets of New York" tour with @radiomarcus Marcus Hillman! He took us on such an engaging and fun tour of the Financial District and oldest part of New York, and really gave us a comprehensive history of how it all started. Federal Reserve, New York Stock Exchange, the oldest commerce district, Brooklyn Bridge, cool hidden parks and passageways, the inspiring and sobering 9/11 memorial, and the beautiful Irish Immigrant Memorial. Marcus is SO fun, funny and engaging, combining history and present fun facts, and great pop culture music, celeb and present day stories too. He is an on-air radio personality and kept us laughing with references to celebs, movies, music and more as we went along. Marcus is a fantastic tour guide and we know a heck of a lot more about the fascinating story of New York City now. We also know we have another buddy in the city now, which is always a great thing! Thanks Marcus, see you next time!
