We took the evening walking tour over Brooklyn Bridge to Dumbo with John Gallagher, and what an experience it was ! I didn’t want the evening to end. We’ve done many many tours on our travels but this was absolutely the best one yet !! John is a most engaging character. Full of interesting facts which he delivered in a hugely entertaining way. He is so knowledgeable and passionate about the city. The tour was supposed to be two hours but we were all having such a good time it ended up being closer to three hours. He showed us the best places to get the perfect photos on Manhattan at night, and we were blessed with the most glorious sunset. It was perfect. This is a free tour, or pay what you wish. John was so generous with his time and his knowledge, we were happy to give him a generous tip.

Highly recommended! We did the Brooklyn Bridge & DUMBO tour with Katie and she was really great - friendly, knowledgable, and enthusiastic. Looking forward to doing other tours with FTF in future if we ever get back to NYC.

My husband, my 14 year old grandson and I took the walking tour of SoHo, Little Italy and. Chinatown on June 24th w/ John Gallagher, and we all thought it was the highlight of our trip to the city. We live in Boston and come down 2 or 3 times a year and have been bringing our grandson down for 4 or 5 years, and we’ve traveled extensively, so we are not newbies to NYC or to travel and we think he may be the best guide we’ve ever had. He was very personable and related many, many interesting facts and figures about each section we visited, including historical info, stuff about famous (and infamous) residents and architectural tidbits. We’ve already recommended him to some of our friends and look forward to taking a tour from him again - even the same one! AAA+++ for John!

We signed up for the Greenwich village, Chelsea and High line tour with Joey as our guide. He is extremely knowledgeable and engaging. The pacing was good and we didn’t feel rushed. Joey told great stories and made history come to life. My teens really enjoyed the tour and they were able to connect the dots with what they learned in history class to real events and places (Stonewall Inn, shirtwaist factory fire, etc). Booking was easy and the reminders were helpful. Please be generous as the tour guides get paid only by tips. Just think how much another paid tour in NYC would cost!

We have done 2 tours with Renee, Brooklyn Bridge and Dumbo and the Greenwich Village tour. Renee is an amazing guide, knowledgeable and amusing. It brings the areas to life doing these tours as you can read a lot in guide books but a local’s knowledge is invaluable. Renee worked hard to give us the best time and included snippets from her own life and I would definitely read that book should she write it. The tours are both well worth doing and I look forward to coming back to do more. You can’t go wrong with Free tours.
