Thanks for visiting Big Apple Jazz Tours! Since 1997 we have been on the front lines of the underground New York City jazz scene - taking small groups down into the basements and alleyways where live jazz still thrives in neighborhood nightclubs from Harlem to Greenwich Village. Legendary players and clubs as well.

All live music and transportation costs are included in the tour price. Our jazz tours take place in Manhattan for the most part, but private tours to Brooklyn, Queens or the Bronx can be arranged.

Our goal is to offer the most intimate, small group tours available to Harlem and Greenwich Village neighborhood nightclubs and juke joints. We also provide insight into the Big Apple jazz scene as it has evolved over the past hundred years.

Consider hiring Gordon Polatnick to take you on a private tour throughout the city during the day or night to experience the city's many intriguing neighborhoods at your pace and focusing on your interests.

We had a wonderful and great evening in Harlem. Amanda is a great host and she really knows the neighborhood there. We had a lot of fun. Thanks again Amanda!

I went by myself as my friends weren't interested in Jazz. Not a huge Jazz lover and don't know a lot but it sounded interesting and fun. Gordon was our guide, the other people easy to chat and hang out with. Went to three clubs, stopped at interesting points along the way. Music was great, no soul food stops in... More

as said in the title, you can expect a great tour, cool Jazz and Amanda is terrific! You should not expect a wide variety of clubs (you would need more than a night for that) and a long tour through Harlem (just in case you expect that). Amanda made my day and clubs were great!

Brilliant evening led by Gordon to three jazz venues in Harlem. Not not did we get an insight into the area, we also heard and saw some great different types of jazz performed. Our group was only six in number (including Gordon) and of a wide age range but we all got n incredibly well, making for a memorable evening!... More

I live in NYC and have had this tour on my radar for ages. My partner and I (plus a couple friends) finally found a perfect day and booked. I'm so glad we did! We met Amanda (who is the definition of amazing) and a group of 6 or so at Columbus Circle before heading up to Harlem. A couple... More

We had a great evening out in New York walking through Harlem and learning about Harlem's history, New York's history and African American history, all of which was presented in a lively and personal way by our generous and warm guide Amanda. Additionally, the jazz performances we heard were outstanding! I highly recommend this tour. We would not have been... More

We chose to do the Harlem Juke tour and couldn't have been more pleased. Gordon was our guide for the night and you could sense his love for jazz. I highly recommend Big Apple Jazz Tour. They take you to places you probably would not have found on your end. The two of the three places we went were incredible!... More

Great to visit places that have a historical and musical significance and places that you would not necessarily know existed.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
