My fiance and I did a Famous Fat Dave Tour this week while visiting NYC. We flew in from Australia and being regular visitors to NYC and looking for something different to do after reading so many great things about Famous Fat Dave and his tour we decided to book one. We didn't mess around and we booked a 6hr... More

Dave is a very warm and friendly and extremely knowledgeable tour guide of local favorite eating places, along with the history of the city. You Will experience areas of the city that tour buses don't go, and along with eating great food, you will meet some great people. This is the way to see the real New York, after you... More

The best five hours I've ever spent touring in New York. This unique 'eating' tour is well worth the cost. Dave is very informative about the neighborhoods that we visited and the foods we ate. I was taken to areas that I never would have discovered on my own and enjoyed every morsel.

We originally booked a tour with Dave from Australia, requesting Soul Food. When we met up with him we explained that we'd already sampled some delights from Harlem, and what else could he recommend? On the fly Dave came up with a whole range of options and we decided on the Best of Brooklyn - somewhere we wouldn't have visited... More

Had been trying to go on Dave's tour for awhile and was stoked when he was able to add my girlfriend and I. We shared the cab with another fun couple, and Dave took us through his "best of brooklyn" junk in the trunk tour. We had no set itinerary and put our faith in Dave...and he came through big... I booked a 4-hour tour on September 26th, 2012, as a birthday/early Christmas gift for my longtime friend and former Brooklyn neighbor. Communication was outstanding with Dave as emails went back and forth of our food likes and dislikes, any allergies, and where/when we would like to tour. Dave was very punctual picking us up in a classic 1982 Checker... More

Famous fat Dave is well worth the money. The experience was awesome. My boyfriend and I went around with Dave trough Brooklyn and Queens and ate till we couldn't move. It was well worth it. While not every place was "the best food I ever ate," it was still delish! I loved Dave's go with the flow and down to... More

First of all, Famous Fat Dave is NOT fat, but what he is, is a genial, gracious, funny host bursting with facts, history and lore of his city. The man knows his stuff—food and facts. From the minute I contacted Dave he went out of his way to show us a good time. He accommodated me at the last minute... More

My wife, 11 year old daughter and I spent a great day (8/2/12) with Dave touring Brooklyn. The food choices Dave suggested were outstanding as expected, but the tour is so much more. Dave was extremely knowledgable in Brooklyn history and kept my daughter involved and interested. We can't wait for our next family tour in Dave's cab "Sweetness", probably... More

My wife and I took Dave's Tour on Monday, August 27th for our anniversary. There was another couple from England with us. The tour was the most fun we have had in NYC. We are from the try-state area. Although we now live in Connecticut, we both had worked in the city for numerous years. I loved everything about the... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
