Sunset sail
Our family rated this one of the top activities of our trip. Teens participated in hoisting the sails! Very relaxing and unique way to see Statue of Liberty and views of Manhattan.
We were fortunate to have the clouds clear for a gorgeous sunset.

I would have liked them to include:
-Telling us more about the boat, sailing as it was when the Clipper was in its prime, what the Clipper would have transported, sailing conditions for sailors, etc
-engage more with participants

Would recommend! Thank you!

Thai is absolutely the BEST way to see NYC. The sunset sail offers an amazing view of the sky and a guess the best of both worlds in seeing the city at night. This is the most beautiful way to see the Statue of Liberty and we happened to see a couple of dolphins in the harbor. It was a perfect date night! It was fun to see how the crew works to use the sails of the boat and they were all very relaxed and friendly. I totally recommend this for people who actually live in NYC

The Sunset Clipper Sail with Manhattan by Sail was perfectly stunning! The Staff was really great and kindly helped get us booked last minute on Sept 1 over the Labor Day weekend. The Crew was friendly and helped to ensure that everyone was comfortable to take in the spectacular golden hour views. Limited bar service and a live guitarist served to enhance the whole experience. The sailing was a highlight of our trip. A must do!

We went on a special July 4th all you can eat, all you can drink five hour fireworks ride. The service was excellent, Haruka (sp) was friendly and found the right balance of working the ship but also being hospitably friendly and sociable. There were only so many seats and I'm not sure how the vendor expected so many people to stand for four-five hours. People who arrived closer to departure did not get seats and many actually left the boat and I don't blame them. The remaining attendees had seats but they were often "claimed" and then "taken" by people who genuinely needed a seat. It was just odd and fairly tense. The food was decent but presentation could have improved. Also I understand we're on a boat but we still need warm food served warm, it's not too much to coordinate. Drinks were quick and effortless. The band was excellent but was likely the wrong choice. A quartet with Titanic vibes with three boats in proximity with raging music was hard to ignore. I would have preferred a more upbeat band, it's July 4th. The tour left a bit to be wanted. There was no emcee. No history of the various monuments we visited. No one helping to build energy and ensure everyone had a great night. None of this was a deal breaker per se, but at $550/person this felt like a significant premium for what was delivered.

Dear Archie, Thank you for your balanced review. We tend to take a low-key approach to our communication and vibe on board as we tend to have a lot of local, repeat clientele that don’t want to be on a tour boat with an announcer or guide discussing the iconic sites that are everywhere in NY Harbor. We have tried to strike a balance for our out-of-town guests by inviting interaction with our knowledgeable & friendly crew. Glad you enjoyed speaking with Haruka — and we will consider how to add more information /content as well. Regarding our jazz band, I am glad you liked the band. I am sorry they were overpowered while waiting for the fireworks display to begin. It was hard to compete in volume with those nearby party boats; we generally try to avoid them but, it was unfortunate those boats were in such close proximity this year.

The directions were not very clear so we had to call the office in order to find the ship. When we got there, all the seats were taken since they only had enough seats for about half the people on board and that’s if you count the people sitting on the life jacket containers. There was no guide on anything to tell you about the sites you were passing. We paid for the food and drink package but the food was not very good…at over $500 a person I was expecting something more thank carrot sticks and PBJ sandwiches. Also I didn’t like the music, it was too loud and I’m not big on jazzy music. I have to say that this is the worst tour I’ve ever been on and I say that as someone who once had a 12 hour Grand Canyon bus tour turn into an 18 hour one. Definitely not worth the price.

Dear Jessica, We are sorry you were disappointed, but feel you are being unfair. Not sure how to answer you in that we have very different feedback from other guests who were on the exact same outing with us and ate the exact same food and were quite pleased. Everyone else made it to the boat with the same directions. Our staff monitors our messaging platform in order to assist passengers who still require additional assistance in locating our vessel. We do not ever have guides on our vessels - if you feel we misrepresented that, please show us where you see us claiming to offer guided tours so we can correct any misinformation. Our jazz band consists of some of NYC’s top talents. In fact, Joe Cohn, on guitar for your outing, regularly plays w many jazz greats —among them Winton Marsalis, the Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Another great year watching the Macy's fireworks from the front row. By seeing this show from the water we didn't miss a rocket. The BBQ on this classic sailboat was top shelf as were the adult beverages. Great time!

The perfect way to start off the evening in Manhattan. This relaxing sail was just the perfect length of time and included wine and charcuterie box to enjoy while taking in the incredible views. The staff was very accommodating and provided us with some nice red wine. If you don’t drink white wines you may want to ask about the selection in advance. We highly recommend this sail and look forward to doing this again next time we visit the area.

On our last day at Manhattan we decided to try the Clipper City Tall sail ride, which was included in our New York Pass. I’m so glad we did because it was a fantastic attraction and you get to see the stunning Manhattan skyline on this super cool sail boat— the circle line cruise is just too tame for us, with the sail boat, you get to see the sailors pull up the sails and feel the boat rock this way and that way and you get to walk around! Plus they have two bathrooms on board which is amazing when you have little kids like us. Everyone on board was so nice and helpful, we will definitely be doing this again if we come to Manhattan again!

Me and my family had a wonderful time sipping cocktails under the stars as we sailed by the Statue of Liberty and Ellis island . The view of the city was unbelievable with plenty of picture opportunities the staff was friendly and informative seating was a little scarce at the start of the sail but once the ship started going we where on our feet. Looking at the view and chatting up the crew. One of the best sailing trips I have been on I highly recommend.

We had booked this and were standing in a queue with multiple other people when someone realised the company had sent an email not long before to say it was cancelled. One woman in the queue said this was the third time they had cancelled for her.

We fly home tomorrow so can't rebook and have also now wasted a slot on our go city pass as it was later Sunday afternoon and there were no other options we could book for that night.

We had planned our day around bring ready for this trip so cut short a Dumbo visit to get back for it.

Very, very frustrating
