This quiet, non-commercial block is worth exploring. The well-kept beaux arts and art deco styled homes are in full display. Love the "islands" on some of the blocks including W94th Street where a statue of Joan of Arc is on horseback with a sword.

While there are many beautiful streets in Manhattan, none compare with the grace, diversity and elegance of Riverside Drive. Just take a ride on the M5 bus and see for yourself. The buildings that grace the east side of the gently curving Drive range from beaux art mansions - Marion Davies lived in one near 106th Street - to limestone townhouses and prewar apartment in a variety of styles. Riverside Park is on the west side of the Drive. The conceptual plan for the park was drawn by Frederick Law Olmsted. Accordingly, there is a variety of landscaping, including an occasional view of the Hudson river. Riverside Park also has numerous notable monuments and statues, including the Eleanor Roosevelt Monument at 72nd Street the Soldiers and Sailors Monument at 89th Street, the Joan of Arc statue at 93rd Street, the Amiable Child Monument on the slope north of Grant's Tomb and Grant's Tomb.

The Riverside Drive was nice since the architecture around here is old world (walk ups). You will find people hanging around and so seems quite popular with kids and families per se. Not an ideal or a usual place to go if you are in NY, but nice to check out if you are in the area.

LOve this street as it winds over bridges from the northern most edge of manhattan to 72 street on Manhattans west side. It crosses several bridge spans and covers some historically important areas of the city. Some very important building border this road including Grants tomb, St John the DIvine, Manhattan School of Music, and a beatiful park that many New Yorkers use. A lovely path to walk, bike ride, skate or drive and there are numerous phot opportunities for all.

We often use Riverside Drive as an alternate to the West Side Highway when returning to New Jersey from lower Manhattan. The old buildings are rather stately and speak of another era. I picture all the residents as someones' grandparents.

The hotel is located in a good qiute area with giod price shops and Zabar's store nearby. Sub way 79 street red 1 line station is 2 min by feet. Warm room, 2 parks and Museums are near. Small room but cosy. Good waste of money.

Love riding on this street and looking at the town houses, beautiful old apartment houses, the wonderful statues. And the parks that abut. It. The city has evolved around this drive and a slow walk or bike ride here is amazing. Be sure to stop and and view the several hundred years of history. There are a bunch of lights and traffic but travel at your own pace and appreciate the changing evolution. Here. All sorts of people and their pets are around and the city comes out to the parks and plays and fines here with cookouts and games. A magical place.
