Barney's is a luxurious department store in Manhattan. I have visited the one close to Central park. It has the best collection of the top class fashion brands under its roof with very high prices. Even if you are not going to buy anything, nice to walk through and see.

I love Barney's. Wish I could afford to shop there, but alas I can only afford a few discrete items. I get my "face goo" as my husband calls it there as its not avail anywhere else in the US. But, even though I only come in a few times a year, Claudia remembers me and treats me like the... More

Look! Lets not mince words... Barney's is expensive. I can't afford the majority of things I want there but I keep going and you should too. First of all the Madison Avenue store is the place to be. Personally I dislike the Upper East Side but I love going to Barney's. First of all it is the pulse of NYC... More

Barney's is in a league unto itself. Very different from the 2 other "Big B's" (Bloomingdale's & Bergdorf). The store windows are usually decorated with avant guard fashion. The first floor is a wonderland of high end, non-traditional department store hand bags and accessories (Celine, Goyard). The bags aren't locked inside glass cases, if you want to touch one, look... I spoke to a lady at the Tatcha counter and she was extremely helpful and friendly. She really helped me pick out some products but I heard other staff at the fragrance counters comment on my weight to the point where my boyfriend had to defend me. Not great I had a lot of money to spend Too bad I... More

Barney's use to be my favorite department store in NYC when I was younger, but that isn't the case anymore. Perhaps my taste has changed or they have different buyers. I do recommend checking out their men's shoe department. Perhaps one of the best shoes department in the city.

It has always been fun to go to barneys, they have some great stuff there. The WINDOW was the highlight for us, they seem to out do themselves each time. The skill required is truly amazing. Good selection of brands and promotions.

Not my favourite department store.... But never the less, it was still good. Had lots of good fashion brands and you can get lost for hours in here!

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
