Perfect for history lovers, this tour of the historical Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral in Lower Manhattan invites you into the catacombs, allowing you to see its pipe organ and venture to parts of the building that are normally closed to visitors. Beat the crowds on this tour and enjoy a personal encounter with this New York landmark.

Lots of very high end stores up and north of 60th Steer. Also some great cafe’s and restaurants. Recommended

Madison Avenue runs north and south parallel to Fifth Avenue - it is located one block east of Fifth Avenue. Fifth Avenue has the more famous reputation for shoppers but I actually prefer Madison Avenue. It is more low-key - the tourist crowds on Fifth Avenue can be insane, especially around Rockefeller Center during the holidays. There are many, many world-class retailers on Madison Avenue - one could easily spend an entire day strolling up and down Madison - window shopping is great too. There are also lots of wonderful restaurants.

We were surprised how many empty stores there are on Madison Avenue. My husband said he has been reading about this and 5th ave and I am sorry to see it. We did have a lovely walk on this still great street.

Dear Patty B, Thank you for your visit to Madison Avenue. While indeed Madison Avenue has not been immune to nationwide challenges to the brick-and-mortar retail economy, we are pleased to inform you that in the past six months, 13 new stores have opened on Madison Avenue, and Balenciaga, Carolina Herrera, Celine, Hermes, Missoni and Sergio Rossi are all either completed or in the process of building new flagship locations here.

The area was clean and there were many shops and places to eat without using the hotel's restaurants. Cabs wer easy to get, may have been the time of day, but OK. Pleasant surroundings and helpful people.

Stretching from Madison Square 23rd Street to the Madison Avenue Bridge in Harlem is Madison Avenue. Carrying northbound traffic only the heart of Madison Avenue was best known for the advertising agencies that moved in decades ago. The area has since developed with high end retailers and boutique shops, as well as, restaurants and attractions. As with most of Manhattan enjoy the architecture, eclectic mix of buildings, people watching and city lifestyle.
