A very nice part of NYC

A very quiet and clean part of NYC. Nice place to go and relax and right next to soho as well. Take a walk and enjoy the scenery.

An eclectic assortment gather here - I love sitting in the park and people watching... I've watched groups of skateboarders, super talented musicians, and people taking volunteer passersby for dance lessons. Lots of NYU students around, plus all the local residents walking their dogs. A beautiful park, and fun to people watch in.

Greenwich village is more quite than other parts of manhattan. A green part too and the houses/apartments with staircases outside of the building looks great. Very nice park to rest as well.

Awful! We went to find a nice restaurant for lunch after touring the 911 Museum. We were overwhelmed with stench as we departed our cab. The smell followed us down every lane and sideroad. It totally killed our appetite. Got a cab and went back to our hotel.

Millions of people have walked through here, each in his own world, coexisting pretty harmoniously, like a jazz concert in motion!

Greenwich Village has so many components. Parts of it have no charm or interest. Parts are wonderful to walk around and have some excellent restaurants. There are some good ice cream restaurants. There are some good seasonable festivals and events in the village as well. Overtime much of the area has gotten quite developed and changed its character. In terms... More

Great little restaurants and shops, just west of NYU. Interesting old buildings are repurposed, definitely a cool vibe.

you can't come to NYC and not go to the village. The west village is a lot of fun but can become confusing cause the streets are not in numerical order like in mid-town but go for it especially Christorpher Street & West 4th Street. The east villiage is a lot of fun too for reasonable eats etc. Especially the... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
