No more Beatniks in 2017. This was the cultural revolution of the 60ies. I loved Greenwich Village. Boheme and different. Today its just a NYC quartier with a nice Washington Square, students, cheap eateries and homeless. But worth the visit anyway.

Plenty of things to see and do in the village (both east and west). Washington Square Park sits in the middle surrounded by NYU. The East Village is more edgy while the West Village is more trendy. Tons of great places to eat and shop on both sides.

In decent weather, this is the place to be to get away from mid-town and find great ethnic restaurants, cafes, high end fashion stores and just a neat place to walk around. A must visit for anyone going to new York.

Hey it's The Village.....it's Going to be Quirky. Visited twice walked around but came for lunch at Babbo and lunch at ABC Kitchen. Highly recommend both the area and these restaurants. BTW, We're serious foodies.

Easy location just a few blocks off a metro station (14th). You can visit NYU or walk through the historic Washington Square (see the arch). It is also a great area to talk a stroll through the streets of Greenwich Village and see the charm of this area which has plenty of great restaurants and coffee shops as well.

Wonderful gem of a neighborhood for wandering while in New York. Lots of shops ( Anine Bing, Fresh, Everlane, RagDoll) with great bakery's ( Magnolia Bakery) and fantastic spots for a mid afternoon snack and cocktails ( The Spotted Pig)

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
