My friends and I were looking for something to do safely. We found the tour of Old St. Patricks catacombs online. We decided to go. We had a great time. Our tour guide Dan was amazing. He was incredibly knowledgeable and made the history of the church and surrounding city come to life. I highly recommend it as a native NYer looking for something to do.

My friend and I participated in the Catacombs by Candlelight Tour and we really enjoyed it. We are both from Queens and we learned a lot about our amazing city. Dan, our guide was engaging and shared a lot of intriguing information. I recommend this to tourists and city folk alike.

This was my second tour with Take a Walk New York, and both were excellent. This one was "Greenwich Village: In the Footsteps of Writers" with Laurie. She shared her extensive knowledge of Village history and architecture, as well as pointing out where many famous writers lived. It was a fun and educational tour with a terrific guide.

I went on the "400 Years of History in Less Than One Mile" with Alan, covering downtown Manhattan from City Hall Park south. This was an informative and fun walking tour. Alan's knowledge is vast, and he's great story teller. This is a worthwhile tour for both New Yorkers and out-of-towners.

I did several tours with Talk a Walk New York, and particularly those led by Alan, whilst I lived in NYC.
Each was excellently researched, interesting, and nicely paced and tailored to the group. I learnt about lower Manhattan, Central Park, Mansions of Fifth Avenue and DUMBO, amongst others.
Well worth a tour if you are visiting, or a NYC local.

I thoroughly enjoyed Alan's tour, "400 Years of History in Less Than One Mile". It was colorful, interesting, and fun to walk through history with Alan and hear all his stories from the Dutch days in the 1600's up to the present.

I went on a wonderful walking tour of the Mansions of Fifth Avenue with Laurie Lewis from Take A Walk New York. Laurie showed us these 100 year old mansions and told us the stories of the rich and powerful people who lived in these homes. She made the tour fun and informative. Highly recommend this tour if you want to see old New York on the Upper East Side.

Several months ago about a dozen members of my family met in NYC for a weekend reunion. We booked several tours with Take a Walk New York to see some of the major sights. Laurie was our tour guide. She clearly loves the city and provides an engaging narrative of facts and stories along the way. The first day she even met us at our hotel and took us to the subway to make sure we knew how to use it! During the tours, which each lasted several hours, she always included some time to rest in a shady spot! Laurie is really flexible about customizing a tour to meet the needs and interests of the group. On different days, we visited the Village, the Midtown area of Manhattan and the southern end of Central Park. It really was a fun weekend.

Central Park is the gem of NYC but you need special knowledge to appreciate its highlights. Alan from Take a Walk NY, laid out the retreat of the American troops on their way to Washington Hgts through Central Park. He brought to life Seneca Village, a haven for freed blacks prior to the Civil war and other fascinating and varied history. Alan wove answers to my questions into his presentation, was extremely well organized and was fun to be with. For a history buff or a family looking for a meaningful few hours in the park this is a great tour.

If you like hearing about a place from someone who knows and loves its history and culture then this is the tour company for you! I have taken a few tours with Alan now and appreciate his expertise as well as his storytelling style which keeps his audience engaged. I also appreciated the opportunity to ask questions. This is not just a talk given by a trained guide, but a story curated by a true citizen and student of the city!
I recently took the Central Park: Northern Half tour--a part of the Park I thought I knew , but the stories behind the Park's development make it all the richer to appreciate. And we were taken to paths I had missed on my own. Great fun for tourists and locals!
