Do you enjoy cutting edge Broadway productions? Do you wince at exorbitant ticket prices? The Public is one of the great pathways to the Great White Way for experimental and emerging talent. Hamilton was first produced here, as was Stomp, Passing Strange and many more groundbreaking plays and musicals. We try to make a show here whenever we're in town... More

Happened to hear about opening night for Shakespeare in the Park. Same day tickets go on sale at noon and it was recommended we arrive about 2 hours ahead. The theatre was celebrating a 10 year sponsor anniversary and gave away free items to those in line. My family won a raffle drawing for preferred seating and over $200 in... More

What a great theatre. It has several stages with multiple performances going on, so it is hopefully likely that there will be something for anyone's taste and schedule. Dry Powder was sold out, and we waited for rush seats (thankfully, we were lucky enough to get them!), which was fun waiting and visiting with locals in line. Dry Powder was... More

This is my 2nd time in this modern nice theater, this time seeing Dry Powder, wonderful talented cast, including Claire Danes, Hank Azaria and John Krasinski, but sorry to say the play itself was not the best, falling flat at times.

The Public Theater is always a treat, and worth checking out for current off-broadway plays. Many move to Broadway - like "Hamilton"

I was here with a friend to see a comedienne (Pam Anne) in the Joe's Pub section. Real cool place, easy to get to . Only complaint would be that we waited a while for our drinks before the show , but then I just ordered two at once so I would be set !

We were here for the first time last night. It's a theater in the round (or, 3/4s to be more accurate). The room is beautiful, the layout is good and every seat has good views and no obstructions. We did have a few people with us who had a hard time hearing some dialog and the next time we go... More

A NYC institution, and for all the best reasons. We've been members for about 5 years. And we've seen exceptional productions there each and every season. They're bold, inventive, artful, and technically masterful. The complex itself is beautiful with an inviting exterior designed for gathering, and a generously welcoming, open & lively lobby. The theaters within are intimate in scale... More

I have been to several interesting performances at Joe's Pub at the theatre. It is cabaret style seating and a small venue so almost any seat is a good one. There is a two drink minimum or $12 food charge. You can opt to eat upstairs if you choose at The Library which is a more formal dining space. The... More
