I love walking on Madison Avenue and going into the charming shops. I have a favorite linen shop and I usually can get a parking spot in the front and it only costs me a few dollars. There are plenty of places to eat on Lexington and 3rd. East End Avenue has a great view of the water.

I recommend walking through almost all of the neighborhoods of Manhattan, and this is no exception. Very beautiful buildings, very different feel than the lower neighborhoods. Great restaurants in this area too.

The Upper East Side is a beautiful part of New York City. It contains many of the museums of the city and is close to Times Square and manhattan. Walking distance to central park and it has lots of easy to get to subway stations!

Upper East Side is the elegant part of New York. It is here where most people with money live. You have very nice restaurants and exclusive shops. It is worth taking a walk in the area.

The East side has it all, museums, beautiful waterfront, shops, etc. I love wondering up here at weekends. Could do with more transportion options in places.

Walking in the Upper East Side avenues is wonderful. I loved the atmosphere, the stores and observing the way local residents live. While walking in this safe neighborhood I encounter many families, children and senior citizens. The area is more relaxed and less crowded than 5th avenue, Broadway and other touristy areas. Many nice museums are located in the upper... More

I remember watching "The Nanny" in the late 90's, and it felt like I was actually meet them at the corner of the street! I didn't manage to find unfortunately which house exactly it was, I should have probably asked locals for it. Worth the visit, classy neighborhood!

I lived on the Upper East Side before people referred to the area as the UES. Actually I lived in Yorkville near PS 158. The neighborhood is now a mixture of old and new.... The old Dreshner restaurant closed down about 5 years ago... but the old German Butchers are still in the area Shauler and Stube Sausage makers is... More

It's a high scale address, of course, but walking up the Mile to the Metropolitan is always a treat on a sunny day. Whether you're on the park side of 5th or further to the east, each of the avenues has its own things to offer. And wander between the avenues to check out the townhouses, the embassies and the... Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
