I remember watching "The Nanny" in the late 90's, and it felt like I was actually meet them at the corner of the street! I didn't manage to find unfortunately which house exactly it was, I should have probably asked locals for it. Worth the visit, classy neighborhood!

I lived on the Upper East Side before people referred to the area as the UES. Actually I lived in Yorkville near PS 158. The neighborhood is now a mixture of old and new.... The old Dreshner restaurant closed down about 5 years ago... but the old German Butchers are still in the area Shauler and Stube Sausage makers is... More

It's a high scale address, of course, but walking up the Mile to the Metropolitan is always a treat on a sunny day. Whether you're on the park side of 5th or further to the east, each of the avenues has its own things to offer. And wander between the avenues to check out the townhouses, the embassies and the... The Upper East Side - the area east of Central Park, between 59th Street and 110th Street (or 96th Street) - is often, unfairly and degradingly, compared with the Upper West Side. lt is said to have more wealthy people, more conservatives, more Republicans, fewer children, fewer Jews, and lots of racists and anti-Semites. lgnore this untrue nonsense, and do... All my trips to New York City include at least one stop in this affluent neighborhood, usually to visit one of the many worldclass museums found on Museum Mile between 82nd and 105th streets on Fifth Avenue. I especially like the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. But during my most recent stay, I went to... More

I like the area. Many restaurants, cafés and it's safe to walk around. I liked the fact that it is a family environment. Glad I spent time there.

Long bastion of wealth and good breeding (!) the Upper East side with its draconian Coop-boards preventing entry of the undesirable element and its large and imposing apartment buildings extends from the upper 50s to the upper 90s and East of Fifth Avenue. My wife was treated with Chemo from April thru July & then had Bladder Surgery Sept 1 at Memorial Sloan Kettering. We stayed three days a week, every other week at Hotel Bentley on York and 62nd. I got to know the area very well. The Upper East Side has upscale apartments/condos & hotels and beautiful Brownstones. Almost any shopping... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
