The area
Neighborhood: Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.

The Upper East Side contains many of New York City's most desirable residences. The leafy streets are not crowded and it contains some of the world's best high-end shopping. The Upper East Side contains Museum Mile, home to institutions such as the Guggenheim and the Met. The Upper East Side is the home of New York's elite. The neighbourhood is bounded by 96th St in the North, and 59th St in the South; with the East River on one side and by Central Park and 5th Avenue in the West

NYC's Upper East Side is the city's wealthiest area. It's full of upper-crust apartments and swanky retailing. It's also accessible to Central Park, the huge park in the middle of Manhattan, which gives NYC breathing space. Amongst other things, the Upper East side hosts Museum Mile, where most of NYC's most important galleries and institutions are located. It's also a great place for dining out.

I came here to go to a museum and after my day there I took a long walk on some very nice blocks of upscale apartment buildings. There are some restaurants serving the locals but this is not a destination for night life. One comes here for the museums and to visit a friend.

One of the most interesting and beautiful parts of Manhattan. You can see Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Park Ave, and some of the nicest architecture and homes. Food can be expensive so check menus first.

I’ve stayed at 3 Marriot Courtyard hotels in May - June 2021. This particular facility and its front office staff has been the least friendly and accommodating. The room amenities, coffee/ tea service ran out of tea bags ( on back order). The mattress and some pillows worn out. The front office personnel were unhelpful in addressing the above. And bordering on rude to receive complaints. The only positive was the indoor gym.

I happen to be a very big fan of FiDi and the Upper West Side and the Garment District and whenever I am at these places I feel very good about life!! My parents decided to move here and I was still happy about it but I didn’t think it would be as good as it is!! I happen to be a wild almost to be 20 year old and so living in Manhattan is what many people call reinvention!! I have been walking so much that my legs want to be paid for all their hard work!! I walked a few blocks to one side and it is Central Park and a few blocks to the other side and it is the East River!! There happens to be a ton of swanky restaurants all over and I will be celebrating my day of existence five days early at a fancy place in this area!!

This large part of Manhattan is best known as the home for many wealthy people. Big expensive apartment buildings are found here. You will also find many museums along 5th Avenue and Central Park. Some department stores and lots of restaurants.

On my most recent trip I stayed on the Upper East Side of Manhattan right off Central Park. I walked everywhere. I enjoyed the fact that the north end of Central Park was right across the street from the Airbnb where I stayed. It was also an easy walk down to several museums. I recommend spending some time (if possible) on the Upper East Side

Very nice place to go for a walk. The sidewalks are clean and the streets are quiet. There are little shops and restaurants and cafes, but beware, for the most part, everything is expensive!

Hello- Does anyone know where I can park a large SUV overnight on the upper east side?

On April 27th, I am taking my mom to NYC for her 70th birthday. It's a surpise. She grew up and lived at 1030 Fifth Ave/84th Street. She went to Sacred Heart School and tells stories of the neighborhood. My parents were married at St Ignatius Loyola. Her sisters are coming to surprise her. SO - I would like informaton on places that have been there or in business when she was growing up...restaurants or cool things in that area or the city.I know it is a long shot. Also - I need a great location to stay and a great restaurant to have her bithday dinner.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be great!

Hi Jennifer, IF I read this correctly, you were here during all the snow just two weeks ago! Didn't you think it turned the streets and buildings magical? I'm surprised you felt unsafe and sorry you didn't have a better time.

Slds.
