This cathedral is remarkable as building. However, throughout the time I spent in there it seemed like the building had become secularised and not really Christ centred. It was as if this Church was trying too hard to fit in with the culture, and that it had forgotten the reason and purpose of the Church. This left me feeling that... More

My wife and I took the vertical tour and it was amazing. Led by Bill, an incredibly knowledgeable expert on cathedrals, we were able to ascend the various levels of the church and receive incredibly informative and interesting stories from every vantage point. The view of the city from the top are amazing as well. Most impressive was the view... More

Walking thru the garden we ran across the peacocks that live on the grounds of the cathedral. One is albino!

Wonderful way to spend a few hours in New York City for free. There is a spot to put in a few dollars for donations, but there's no admittance price per say. Lots of history and beautiful architecture.

We visited with a small group of about 20 and had a tour guide. The cathedral is magnificent. We have visited many of the old, famous, European cathedrals and St. John's can hold its own with most. Our tour guide was informative, pleasant and knowledgeable. If you have limited time I would certainly recommend taking one of the tours. They... More

A true gem in NYC. Attended the Winter Solstice concert last December. One the greatest concerts ever. Paul Winter is magnificent. St John the Divine is one of the great cathedrals of the world.

This is one of the most beautiful churches I have ever been in. The size of it is huge and it has so many interesting features. I saw it before and after the 2001 fire and since its restoration. It is well work a trip up to Amsterdam Ave to see this surprising Cathedral and what is more surprising is... More

This place was massive!!!! I honestly did not know what to expect. When we pulled up on the bus tour, it looked impressive and decided to check it out. Well worth it! There was a lot of cool windows and arches. This is a bit out of the way, much more quite than St. Patrick's, but I actually liked it... More
