I did a very long walk in Central Park in January 2022 and saw the Obelisk. My walking route took me past the General Sherman Statue, the Central Park Zoo, the Delacorte Clock, the Balto Statue, the Alice in Wonderland Statue. The path continued on to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and behind the museum is The Obelisk. It is majestic to look at and a good photo opportunity. I then continued on to the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir.

I discovered the Obelisk by accident in Central Park. When someone says Obelisk to me my first thought is to the movie - Close Encounters of the Third Kind when the large black box appears.

The one in NYC is nothing like this one. Instead it is a relic from Egypt with inscriptions on it and it stands proudly above thee surrounding greenery. If you enjoy architecture or Eyptian history it's worth checking it out.

The obelisk is a cool Ancient Egyptian monument in Central Park. It was brought to New York City from Alexandria which originally came from Heliopolis. The obelisk is worth a visit.

So I’m not so sure about this one. Central Park is just so so good but I didn’t quite get what the significance of the Obelisk was. Suppose I should have did a bit of research but we just stumbled across it while walking through central park to Harlem.

The ancient Egyptian obelisk otherwise known as Cleopatras Needle stands proudly in the east of Central Park, close to the MET.

A great historical spot to stop at and take in as at over 3500 years old this obelisk has aged very well!

It is a cool obelisk from Egypt and there are signs with translations of the hieroglyphics. It was cool to check out while passing by.

We rode past this on a bike tour in Central Park. It was nice to go by but we didn't spend any time looking at it.
