This tour is a superior New York City value. If you love film and are interested in all the colorful residents who've called Carnegie Hill home, this is the perfect tour to add to a trip to the Metropolitan Museum. There is a bit of relaxed walking, so be prepared to spend some time on your feet. Make sure you bring your questions, too. Cole knows the neighborhood, and he knows movies!

I lucked out with perfect weather when I took Cole Smithey's walking tour of the Carnegie Hill section of the Upper East Side of Manhattan. But it still would've been fantastic in pouring rain. Beginning at the iconic Guggenheim Museum on Fifth Avenue, Cole's connection of architecture, sites where films were made and apartments where legendary film stars lived and still live, along with New York City history in general, helped me to connect to a part of Manhattan with which I previously considered myself very familiar but in reality had barely scratched the surface.

Cole's knowledge is encyclopedic and interesting and he is an engaging and affable host. I highly recommend the experience to anyone visiting or local to NYC.

This was an incredibly fun and informative tour of NYC's Upper East Side/Carnegie Hill and its cinematic landmarks. Cole is a great guide! He's a professional film critic who lives right in the neighborhood, so he knows his stuff and was able to reveal so many cool secrets hiding right in plain site. Plus, his dramatic and comedic flair makes this tour extra-enjoyable! Highly recommended!

We took this tour on a frigid day, exhausted from a long flight. Cole kept both me and my teenaged daughter engaged and entertained with his wit and extensive knowledge of the area. The tour is well-paced and the neighborhood is beautiful. His narrative is packed with fun film facts and area history as he points out location shots from popular movies, shares interesting back stories and points out beautiful architectural features throughout the neighborhood. He also made a careful point to offer a much appreciated bathroom and coffee stop. Cole knows his stuff and presents it well!

Cole was extremely knowledgeable and informative. He knows the area very well.

He had several opportunities to stop for coffee / drinks and to use the bathroom as necessary. He was prompt.

At the end of the tour, he gave me a map and other great information as well as two chocolates since we did so much.

I take a lot of tours and travel a lot, and this was by far one of the best I have ever taken.

As a devoted fan of walking tours in NYC this one is a highlight. I will now regard Carnegie Hill as a true neighborhood, rather than a walk-through on our way to museums. Cole's knowledge of his area, along with an incredible repertory of information about the history of film making in the area, makes for a fascinating 90 minutes.

Cole Smithey is a wealth of information and gives a great tour of the beautiful Carnegie Hill area of the Upper East Side!
While this tour is perfect for movie buffs, it's also a wonderful peak into old New York and highlights architecture, Central Park, multiple museums along the museum mile. You'll hear about Truman Capote, Jackie O, Marilyn Monroe, Woody Allen, and so many more...You'll see the (current and former) personal residences of many celebrities, mansions, churches, and scenes from old and new movies-- All of this while taking in the gorgeous scenery of Carnegie Hill.
Cole is also very entertaining and his quick wit and engaging personality make this a must-do for a unique NYC experience.

Devoted reader of Cindy Adams' column that I am, I run into her mentioning “5th & Park” as a tour in Carnegie Hill, having to do with movie locations. A true movie buff, I google the name of the tour and book it immediately. It's every day except Saturday 12-1:30PM. It's entertaining, adventurous, amusing, intellectually challenging, educational and all together very pleasant. Cole, the guide, has encyclopedic knowledge of the movies and he is also passionate about Manhattan's history and architecture. Not to mention that he is a very considerate and fun person to be with. $35 and worth it.
