Conveniently situated near Penn Station, this exceptional creative fabric flower company stands as a true hallmark of craftsmanship. Initially uncertain about what to expect, we were utterly captivated upon entering this enchanting space filled with exquisite handmade flowers. Although our visit began with the intention of purchasing a single flower for a dress, we left with five creations and received an insightful tour of the remarkable enterprise.
The staff's expertise and assistance were truly commendable, enhancing our experience significantly. Their extraordinary selection of flowers is unparalleled and simply breathtaking. This unique establishment has earned a special place in my heart, and I eagerly anticipate returning soon to delve into the art of flower-making myself.

Great store for flower cuts. The staff is great and worked with our company in finding the proper petal cuts that work for us. Adam and Lucia found the best designs for us. If you're looking for floral arraignments call or visit them.

I visited Schmalberg to find embellishments for a veil I'm creating for my wedding. Tucked away on the 7th floor is this fabulous little business, the only one of its kind in the United States, where workers produce beautiful fabric flowers. The collection is mind-boggling, but their workers are very attentive and led me to just what I'd imagined. One of the owners, Warren Brand, made sure I was happy, and gave me a very fair price for the flowers I bought. Their goods are hand-produced of very fine materials, and come in a huge variety of flowers and colors. It was not only a good shopping excursion, but a true New York experience. Two thumbs up!

Exceptional behind the scene of skilled artisans in the garment district of NYC. I have an immense appreciation for hand made/local passionate businesses. This is one of those businesses that manufacture bespoke flowers, and other accessories for leading designers, milliners, the list goes on (I don't want to spoil the tour). I couldn't believe my eyes and thoroughly enjoyed the 2 hours that I spent in this space. Warren was fabulous and explained the process from start to finish in creating their designs. His team were so welcoming. I was able to make some silk flowers in their studio with the overseeing of one of their team. I'll be recommending this tour to my friends who are visiting NY. Thank you for the experience.

A follow up to our initial review ... on our 2nd trip, almost 1 year later, to M&S the service, fabric flowers, supplies, and people continued to be extraordinary! M&S owner Warren once again spent an inordinate amount of time with Sheila, working with her to get her what she was looking for.
As we said in our initial review, this place is a rare find if you are a true “fabric” person! We wholeheartedly recommend that M&S become part of your NYC Garment District visit, you won’t regret it!

Sheila wanted to get a taste of the famous NYC Garment District during our visit there in July 2017. One of the businesses we visited, M&S Schmalberg Custom Fabric Flowers, turned out to be an amazing find and Sheila's favorite shop!
This is not a traditional storefront like Michaels or Joann's ... quite the opposite. You go into a commercial building and take the elevator to the 7th floor. There is a small conference/showroom that exhibits some of the most magnificent flowers you'll ever see, and for that alone the trip is worth it. But the real gold lies in the manufacturing area where you can see these creations being made, by hand, in all of their beautiful detail.
We were greeted by Pam, who luckily caught us at the door and invited us in (we were about to walk away, figuring this was a wholesale only business). Pam introduced us to the owner, Warren Brand, who took an incredible amount of time with us, carefully explaining what they did and showing us do many fantastic flowers! Sheila was beside herself with happiness and purchased flowers and some yardage of fabric that she's planning to use to make a dress for our wedding.
There is something about being shown the "behind the scenes" operations that result in major stars wearing the goods you're seeing designed right in front of your eyes! While we were there Warren let us see a custom order for the Broadway show "Wicked", which we had just seen the night before. It was really cool ...
Don't be intimidated by the setting when you first see it ... there is sheer joy behind the industrial setting and some of the nicest people you'll ever meet! Highly, highly, highly recommended for anyone interested in fabrics and flowers. This is a long established, family owned business that is the best at what they do. We both loved it!
