About
The yellow taxis, the soaring skyscrapers, the street-side hot dog vendors – you think you know New York City already, right? We’re not so sure. Our English-speaking local guides know the city inside out and can share the stories behind the landmarks that you’ve seen on TV already. Whether it’s a historical overview of the colonial days in Lower Manhattan or a cultural romp through the 19th century marvel, Central Park, our tours go beyond the cliches. We’ll delight you with fun yet informative stories to make New York come alive. Take a bite out of the Big Apple with Babylon Tours and see how good it tastes.

The tour guide at the MET was a captivating storyteller, seamlessly weaving historical context with artistry. Their passion for the exhibits brought each piece to life, creating an immersive experience. With a deep knowledge of the museum’s vast collection, they expertly navigated through the galleries, providing insightful anecdotes and connecting the dots across different eras. Their engaging style catered to both art enthusiasts and novices, making the tour accessible and enjoyable for everyone. The guide’s enthusiasm was contagious, leaving visitors with a profound appreciation for the diverse masterpieces within the MET’s hallowed halls. An exceptional guide for an unforgettable museum journey.

Robin was obviously knowledgeable and conscientious of our time limitations. Her bend on chronologically tying everything together with a bow was remarkable as she explained how one period begat the next and the next and the next. She definitely left us wanting more and we look forward to our next tour of the Met!

Mark was an energetic, knowledgeable, and gracious guide for my first time at the Met. He made the art come to life with the stories behind the pieces and their historical significance. Things you certainly wouldn’t know or think about curated for an action packed tour. Time flew by!

We had an incredible experience on this tour, Our tour guide, Mark, was an absolute treasure. His love of art, and of the Museum itself, are clear as he excitedly takes you from room to room to point out this detail, or that bit of information, about various works of art. Mark truly brought the Museum to life for me, after having visited it multiple times in the past without a guide. If it’s your first time visiting the Museum, or if you’ve visited it many times before, taking this tour will show you things you would never have taken notice of on your own. Don’t hesitate to book it. And if you’re lucky to have Mark as your guide, you really lucked out.

We had a great time with a private tour by Mark Venaglia in the American museum of natural history today, mainly due to his enthusiasm, knowledge and storytelling skills. We were impressed by all that he showed and explained to us, including our (teenage) children, no small feat! Because of his experience we made the most of our short time at this impressive museum. If and when we visit NY in the future we will definitely contact Babylon and Mark again for possible other tours. Many thanks!

Taking a guided tour was the best way to experience the Metropolitan Museum as a first time visitor. Our guide, Matt, was experienced, attentive, personable and it made the tour a very memorable one. Would highly recommend.

Went with my wife. Mark is a terrific guide! We went through the Egyptian wing, through American paintings, and ended up at Picasso's painting of Gertrude Stein and Thomas Hart Benton's prototype of WPA murals. Learning the background of these artists, and their subjects, makes for much more enjoyment than simply appreciating the beauty of the art.

Mark is everything you hope for when you are booking this museum tour; knowledgeable about art and NYC, passionate and very personable! We were sent a thoughtful message prior to the tour with instructions on where to meet and a little note on the inclement weather. He found us right on time and we went straight to exploring the beauty and wonders of the Met. Mark kept it interesting, relevant and engaging without it being forced or awkward. We had a fun morning and talked about it for the rest of the day. Really a “must do” if you are considering visiting the Met.

Katherine was great. You could really tell she has a passion for the arts and does a fantastic job knowing about so much in the museum. It was a pleasure getting to know her and hear so many amazing stories about the different pieces.

We were in New York for a few days and we booked a mid-town architecture tour through Babylon. Our guide was Katherine. She met us in Madison Square park and we spent the next several hours walking through mid-town looking at different styles of architecture in many different buildings. Katherine did a great job in describing the different styles, the history and the impact of those styles on the development of the city. We had seen all of the buildings before but the the tour gave us an entirely new perspective. It was fun and educational.
