Very interesting tour with a very lively guide. Helene is a very dynamic, full of story, person. We enjoyed and learned a lot during this tour.

This tour is the most unique, underrated and interesting tour I have done in NYC (and in my 2 weeks in NYC I have done almost all the walking tours advertised!). Marc was at the meeting point early and even though I was the only one who booked that tour slot he kept the tour just for me! Marc is in his late 70s and has lived in the Village his entire life. He knows, met, dined with or has detailed information about artists, musicians, actors, dancers (and more) who lived and worked in the Greenwich Village which he will tell you along the way. Additionally, he adds personal stories, shows before and after pictures and tells you interesting history of each street in the Village.
Marc extended the tour and it lasted almost 3 hours where we zigzagged across EVERY street in the West Village. He does this for fun and to share his experiences and stories with others, so its a TRUE WITH-A-LOCAL TOUR. Absolutely grateful to have had this opportunity to learn first-hand from someone who saw and experienced it. This is the only tour you need to do for an authentic street by street tour of Greenwich Village! You end up seeing everything in-between the Meatpacking District to Soho.

Mark was interesting and provided a personal as well as historical insight into Greenwich Village. We walked the entire village and Mark had stories for every street.

Marc is an extraordinary guide. He has lived in grenwich village his whole life and has great stories about the neighborhood and the legends who have lived there. My dad is a history and music buff and he absolutely loved it. I’ve been on many guided tours around the world but this one with Marc was so unique because he is so connected with the life of it. I didn’t always know all the people Marc references but I still got a lot from the experience.

Had a chilly morning out with Marc on the mean streets of the West Village. Very much appreciated his historical insight. Anecdotes ranging from the Revolutionary War era, Civil War era, midcentury and beat generation actors, singers, and artists. His lifelong residency has brought him in contact with some famous people. If somebody compiled his notes and stories into a book or article, it would be a great read. Having him to ourselves for a couple hours was a pleasure.

Marc gave us a personalized and fascinating view of the Village. Though we were familiar with the area, he added so much information, covering Native American spots, the 19th and early 20th centuries, and the exciting time of the 60's. Because he was born and raised in the neighborhood, he was able to weave both personal stories and history to make for a very enjoyable tour.

This was hands down the worst tour we have ever done. Marc seems like a nice person, but it was incoherent, lacked substance, and way too much personal information. He went on constantly throwing out facts without any context. It is such a fascinating part of New York, but unfortunately it was a very underwhelming experience.

I am sorry you did not enjoy the history tour. Marc covers facts pertaining to the history of Greenwich Village. It would be helpful to know what you felt was out of context? As advertised, he includes many personal anecdotes. Marc lived in the Village since 1950 and to make the tour more interesting weaves in some of his personal experiences. Please elaborate on what it is you would have preferred to hear about during a history tour of the Village? Would you consider retracting this damaging review?

Marc will bring this neighborhood to life. Greenwich Village bears the characteristics of many different historical eras at the same time. Marc will happily weave these together with background stories either from history general, from personal experience or through the stories of the people who lived in and helped shape this neighborhood. Highly recommended!

Marc and his family have lived in the Village for decades and so Marc draws on this to provide a very personal walking tour during which he describes some of the characters (some famous, some not) he has encountered. I got the feeling he adapts the tour and the route depending upon how receptive and interested his walkers are. Our tour lasted 2.5 hours although it was only advertised as a 2 hour walk.
