The building is very grand and in keeping with the style when radio was king. I particularly love the ventilation grates on the side of the building with stylised patterns.Visited October 2023Traveled soloWritten December 2, 2023
- Patrick KRedding, California2 contributionsFabulous Radio City Hall RockettsThe Christmas show with the Rocketts was fabulous. Our family of 8 loved the production. Everything was wonderful and keeping the birth of Christ in the performance was so inspiring. Thank you. - dustythoughtsManchester, Connecticut2,168 contributionsGlorious, historical performance spaceThis NYC theatre is situated in the heart of the entertainment neighborhood and is the home of world-famous performances such as the Rockettes. It's gorgeously decorated - you can really feel the history of previous and ongoing shows that've performed on this storied stage. The space is humongous; it looked like it could seat thousands of people. We came here to see the Rockettes and could've just enjoyed wandering through the building. I'll add that getting through security here was a bit stressful, as the security guards were extra vigilant and kept barking orders at everyone. (I understand the necessity of herding thousands of people through the lines, but it felt like airport security.)Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 25, 2023
- Greg PColumbus, Ohio210 contributionsThe Rockettes are amazing! We have seen the Rockettes two years in a row. While the show was the same, so was the entertainment. We thoroughly enjoyed the performance. It just brings a smile to my 17-year old daughter’s face. She loves dance and this show brings it all. It certainly hits the Christmas theme all out. While the amount of people circling to get into the building for each performance can seem daunting, we arrived about 30 minutes early and got in with plenty of time. In fact, we were some of the first to our seats. (There are lots of concessions/souvenir stands and the theatre itself is quite stunning.).Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 25, 2023
- jenned17Conyers, Georgia1,160 contributionsEverything I imagined it to beEverything I dreamed it would be and more! My mom and I attended the Radio City Christmas Spectacular with a tour group the second weekend of December. What a show! I have always loved the Rockettes and seeing them in their theater at Christmas brought tears to my eyes many times during the performance. We had excellent seats on the first row center of the first mezzanine and I loved every minute. The theater is simply gorgeous. Great souvenirs in ornaments, t-shirts, etc. This was my favorite thing we did in New York and so thankful I got to go!Visited December 2023Traveled with friendsWritten January 6, 2024

On October 27th, I purchased three tickets for the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular for the 10pm show on December 28, 2019 as a surprise Christmas gift for my young children. I am a single mother and I saved up for many months to be able to do this for my kids. We live in Florida and this was a huge expense for what should have been an amazing experience. At the time of entry I was informed that one of my tickets was not valid. I was directed to go around the block to the other entrance to get in the line for box one (problems). After waiting for 20 minutes in this line I showed the gentleman my digital tickets and advised him that I was just informed that one of my tickets were not valid. He printed out three tickets and sent me back to the line. After waiting in line again there was an issue that all the tickets were already checked in. After some protest a supervisor came and eventually allowed myself and my two young children entry into Radio City Music Hall. After finally making it to our seats and settling in for the show, here comes Usher Macey to advise me that my seat belongs to someone else. Usher Macey was extremely rude and lacked compassion so there was some protest from me. Now, here comes Macey’s extremely rude Supervisor to remove me from the theater while my two young minor children were alone in the theater. Turns out that my ticket was double sold. Macey’s Supervisor was Extremely rude, lacked empathy, and she had no compassion. Unfortunately I did not get her name. She treated me horrible and had me in tears. I missed the first quarter of the show while my children were stressed out and scared alone in the theater. I’m no VIP, just a single mother from Florida, but I still deserved respect and compassion during an extremely stressful and unfortunate situation. I was advised that because I bought my tickets through a third party it’s not their problem. If the site that the tickets were purchased from does not accommodate me with a refund I will dispute the tickets through my financial institution. This was a horrible experience and I regret booking this show at RCMH.

Let me first say the Rockette show was unbelievable and I would absolutely see it again but the entire process of getting into the building was horrible, and quite frankly a little unsafe.
I saw the late show on December 29th. When my friends and I arrived there wasn’t really anything that showed us where to line up, it seemed like it was just a big crowd on the sidewalk. This led to people cutting line, pushing and shoving. There was almost a fight between the people standing behind me. We finally made it to the doors and it got even worse. I’m not sure if something was going on inside but they didn’t open up early enough to get everyone inside in time for the show. More pushing and shoving to get inside. People were pushing to get through the doors. It felt like we were going to be run over before we made it to security. No one from RCMH was outside to direct people or enforce lining up procedures. I was still outside 5 minutes before show time. Barely made it inside in time. The show started a little late due to this and there were still several people getting to their seats up to 15 minutes into the show.
Not sure why this was so inefficient, I’ve never heard of such problems here before. Maybe it was just a one time thing but it was not a good experience at all.

Radio City Music Hall is a beautiful venue, we went to see the Rockettes Christmas show. Truly amazing, made our trip that extra Speacial. Don't bother with getting seats at the front, get them right at the back, it's cheaper and you get the full effect of the show and can still see everything. It was pure magic!

Radio City Music Hall is run down and not worth the admission fee. The theater is nothing special and other areas viewed were in disarray and dirty. At the end of the tour you get to take a picture with a Rockette and keep the cardboard neck tag you're given, to wear during the tour. There were very few tourists during my visit.

If your in New York around Christmas time watching the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular is a MUST! It was amazing, never seen a theatre/music hall use the ceiling and walls for effects before which made the whole experience more magical. It’s quite short, just over an hour. But well worth it. Made us feel all Christmassy and child like. The Nativity scene was amazing also, and had real life camels/sheep on stage! Would recommend The Champagne cocktail @ $16 was lovely.

Stunning iconic venue is a must on your bucket list! I’ve been many times just to go see the The Rocketts Christmas Spectacular show.Spectacular it is! The inside of this venue is classy with red velvet & gold trims & drips of elegance. The huge crystal chandeliers are gorgeous. Seat preference is orchestra as you’re much closer & can really experience the show. Mezzanine is too far up. Everything is clean including the restrooms. I’m sure this is no small feat with the amount of people who go. They’re very organized as well & know how to manage the crowd, lines & security check in a quick fashion. Food & drinks are expensive but hey you’re in NYC! Go check it out! You won’t be disappointed.

We didn't go to see the show, but all agreed that Radio City and the surrounding area is a must see at Christmas time. Radio City is beautifully decorated and just across the road were enormous Christmas baubles and oversized lights as well as the nearby Rockerfeller Centre and it's amazing tree. Makes you feel like a big kid all over again. Well worth a viist.

Did the touristy thing and took my wife to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Yes, the seating can be expensive, no shock, as is everything associated with a visit during Christmas in NYC.
In spite of that, the experience is a staple to Christmas in New York. The music, dancing was good, but something was lacking. I don't know if it was because it was December 26, but the energy that is always a part of the show seemed to be missing a beat. The changes made, a less than exciting 3D portion, and a truncated Christmas Story presentation, had me looking for more.
While we enjoyed ourselves, it will be a while before there will be consideration of a return visit.

Attended the 2019 Holiday show, and was so impressed. The integration of tech graphics, the orchestra, live animals, the chorale singers, and of course the phenomenal Rockettes, into the sets was perfect. I hadn't been to Radio City in years, and it was as exceptional as I remembered.

A marvelous evening’s entertainment just before Christmas. The show was stunning especially because of the large troupe of dancers which danced in unison so well it was pretty well unbelievable. Throw in a visit to the North Pole, with the whole theatre involved and a Nativity parade including live camels, sheep and donkeys and you can’t find a better Christmas show anywhere.

Will be bringing 5 yr old to Rockettes, will there be booster seat available?
Written November 17, 2023
I don’t know about the availability of booster seats but I’ve been to many plays and have never seen a child in a booster seat so I would venture to say I doubt they provide it. Call the theater to confirm.

I am attending the Christmas Spectacular show in December and I would also like to go ice skating at nearby Rockefeller Center using my own skates. Radio City Music Hall does not offer bag check service and I am concerned about security denying me entry due to my ice skates in a bag. Does anyone here on Trip Advisor have experience with bringing ice skates inside the Radio City Music Hall venue? I reached out to Guest Relations at Radio City 5 days ago and nobody is responding to my inquiry about whether or not I would be allowed to bring my ice skates in a zipped bag inside of the venue.

As far as seating goes, which of the following would you recommend when seeing the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular: Orchestra 4 Row B, Orchestra 3 Row UU, or 1st Mezzanine 5 Row D? Having a very hard time deciding which perspective would give the best overall experience for the show. Thanks!!

In view of the covid19 virus, directives to avoid crowds, & closures of many mass gathering events, are Radio City shows going on as scheduled? I have tickets for Saturday show & I'm very concerned.
Written March 12, 2020
If it were me, I would call the venue and check on the latest advice, as this situation is continually changing ( eg your theatres are closed in New York but in the UK ours are still open for business). It is confusing so the only way to get the correct information is to phone the venue itself.
