FIFTH AVENUE

Very nice avenue with museums, nice landmarks and beautiful churches. Also is a paradise for shoppers. Walk after 72nd street where are plenty of museums.

A great walk down 5th Avenue to look at all the expensive shops, even if you can't afford to buy. Nice to see the prices and quality some can afford.

The shopping destination. Its a potpourri of high end brands. Looks like a fashion show in the evening

One of the most famous streets of the world, Fifth offers everything: Fantastic buildings, some of the finest stores in the US, street food and sophisticated delicacies, culture, museums, and most of all, all kinds of people in the most colorful cavalcade - that all makes the Fifth the heart of the city.

As you come out of the south end of Central Park, you can easily make your way across to Fifth Avenue and head even further south. Like London's Oxford Street / Bond Street areas there is a stark contrast between the designer jewellers and the homeless tucked away in the nooks and crannies. But Fifth Avenue also has churches -... More

I'm a walker. I've walked on Fifth Ave. down from 86 St. to Washington Square Park several times and love it. You get to pass by boutiques, department stores, museums, just about everything. Fifth Ave. is a microcosm of what NYC is all about.

Always busy, always roadworks and construction traffic, always expensive. We saw the Labour Day parade and the 9/11 memorials on the same weekend and the avenue was crowded to the max. A must-see but leave your wallet behind, the shops charge a premium on everything. Look, but buy elsewhere.

It's amazing - but you need your own oil well to buy anything - doesn't matter - it's still amazing - my advice would be stay on 5th or East of 5th

It's exactly what you see on television. The hustle and bustle is alive and well. It was exciting to visit and experience.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
