- Helen BNottingham, United Kingdom20 contributionsExpensive skating session! We booked to go ice skating before our trip, was easy to book. We had booked for 7pm, but I had expected a better signposted / well-lit path in Central Park. Myself and daughter had to use google maps to find it! I had noticed about an hour before we went that you had to sign a waiver, would be better if this was emailed out to anyone who has purchased tickets. I had deliberately not taken a bag so we wouldn't need a locker, but they don't store your shoes when they give you your skates - you have to get a locker which cost $7!! It wasn't busy and I had seen the ice cut schedule was 7.30pm but this didn't happen! I fell and seriously hurt my shoulder (which I know is a risk) but no staff came to help me at all. As it continued to hurt I went to an office to ask if I could have an ice pack for my shoulder, I was taken to a room (right opposite where I fell ) where the girl said oh are you the lady that just fell over! She didn't even look at my shoulder, gave me some ice in a glove and some packets of ibruprofen. The next day I realised the expiry date on them was 07/23!! Maybe not the best place to skate, but it was bigger than Bryant Park and not everywhere was open during our visit.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten November 7, 2023
- lynnmk2024Alexandria, Virginia2 contributionsEfficient service during busy holiday seasonGot tickets online as soon as they were available for our visit date which was the Friday before Christmas. Chose the first session of the morning to reduce being in crowds and it worked—line to enter moved quickly and was well organized (also did the release waiver online ahead of time), got in and started skating soon after with enough space to maneuver around small kids and a few inexperienced adults. Ice was mostly smooth, didn’t have any speeders weaving through, rink is large enough to not hurt thighs or ankles on tight corners, employees were friendly and efficient, and the view was of trees and buildings beyond them—I brought my own skates so cannot review theirs—lovely and very enjoyable experience skating hereVisited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten January 3, 2024
- Jill TWinchester, Virginia43 contributionsVery CrowdedEver since watching the movie Serendipity, I've always wanted to go to the ice rink in Central Park. Let's just say it's better in the movie. Extremely crowded. Definitely a great photo opp but that's about it. If you actually plan to skate, plan on being in a very long line and a good portion of your time being consumed. Yes, very nostalgic but unless this is a bucket list, I recommend walking around, getting some photos and moving on. Many art vendors, horses and carriages, bad smells and hoards of people during the Christmas season. The area around the rink is beaten down by all the foot traffic. I honestly wasn't impressed and will stick with my movie version in my mind.Visited December 2023Traveled with friendsWritten January 13, 2024
- ClarkeyFamilyIpswich, United Kingdom121 contributionsBeautiful Setting!Visited as a family of 5 - with skate hire it was about ÂŁ130 so not cheap. It was however great fun and very iconic to go ice skating in Central Park. We found the staff to be unfriendly and quite disinterested. We still had a great time and would definitely return..... albeit not this holiday as we can't justify the cost again!Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 22, 2024

We had the premium tickets for Wollman rink so you entered through a side gate, not the main one. This ticket got you a table reserved in a small marque and included unlimited hot chocolate and warm apple cider (meant to be warm!). Your skates were brought to you and you were literally on the edge of the ice rink. The time slot was 3 hours long (though there as 30 minutes when you couldn't skate because they were cleaning the ice). My son (17 years old) and my partner really enjoyed the experience. The rink is in a great setting and easy to get to. Well worth doing.
Staff were mixed in their attitude (isn't that just NY?) but most were helpful and friendly. Would recommend.
Book direct on line with Wollman, not one of these tours which seem to be very hit and miss from other reviews I've read.

Hey wollman folks! You know it's 2021 right!? I wanted to catch you guys up on some pretty well matured tech trends going on out here among the community of travel & tourism customers of destinations. Im keen to give y'all some hints and tips on behalf of all and any of the customers you might be thinking to entice to your beautiful venue in Central Park
to establish a baseline on where you are now on the journey, I'll start with some a soft lay up for you. Are you aware that there's something called "email" which can be delivered over "the Internet" to communicate with your guests? It would seem so, given we both used those pipes to successfully book a skate for myself and My 10 year old daughter at your venue today. Each platform was also helpful for ensuring I paid for this experience and you received the funds. Imagine my surprise, therefore, when my daughter and I learned, on arrival at the gates of your venue, that you had closed the rink due to bad conditions. The medium of communication on the closure you chose to use at this point in our relationship was "The icerink security crew". To their 'way beyond job descriptions' credit, they were sensitive and professional to all in the the 20 or so sized crowd of others with us, united in our confused and angry state of being completely let down by you. You had The internet. You had our email addresses. What you didn't have was the intelligence, or customer service mindset, to connect those 2 together and inform us of the closure BEFORE we arrived. When we set off on the trip down, my daughter was on cloud 9, a ball of anticipation as we walked to your rink from 95th/CPW, babbling with excitement . When we were turned away, I took her back home on the same route back home as a ball of pain, tears and confusion. Shame on you, for your total ineptitude, for turning what I had hoped to be an amazing father daughter day into an evening of tears, confusion and sadness for her.If you can't nourish and respect customers, I believe the exact number 0 represents how many you deserve.

Horrendous experience, we walked out because it was so dangerous. Overcrowded, zero regard for covid restrictions, dangerous with the number of people inside the building shoving around with skates on. Would have been dangerous even outside of a pandemic. We waited outside for an hour for our prebooked time slot in a poorly managed queue whilst they continued to sell more tickets for what should have been a restricted time slot. Absolutely disgraceful and we will never return.

We have been skating at Wollman rink for many years. We had the absolute worst experience this year. As much as it pains me to say this, this place was running far better under the Trump organization. Regardless of what time your ticket is for, the lines can be super long and you can have to wait over an hour just to get in. There is no limit to how long you can stay once you’re in. The check-in process is unnecessarily chaotic and you have to sign a dumb waiver while physically standing on line. This could easily be done online when you buy the ticket. The staff was rude. The skates are in horrible shape with frayed laces. It costs everyone $25 just to get in. This is regardless of if you are skating or just watching. The former reduced spectator fee is gone, so if you just want to watch your child skate, you’ll have to pay full price. The skate rental fee is $10. Worst of all is something new they have called Premier Pass which was supposed to be an upscale experience with warm beverages, etc. In reality, it is a pop-up tent with almost no amenities and staff that is either not there or is there hanging out with other staff members. This area costs $30 PLUS $25 admission even if you’re not skating. DO NOT BUY THIS. it is a blatant money grab. It is sad what new management has done to this place. Come here just to take pictures if you want but go elsewhere to skate! We won’t be coming back any time soon.

We booked a certain time slot well in advance, arrived almost an hour early, queued for nearly two hours to be told they would not be letting anyone else on the rink and the queue would be closing. This was a special gift experience to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The staff on site were very uninterested. Told people that computers were not working and asked us to write an email. We have emailed a few times with no reply. We spent over ÂŁ100 on this ice skating experience only to be frozen off the ice. They were not able to refund on-site it is email only. Zero care from staff. They did not appear to be taking groups on and off the ice at the allotted times. AVOID THIS RINK. A terrible waste of time, a terrible waste of money and a terrible terrible experience

Don’t buy tickets to this rink!! We made reservations for 5 PM, arrived at 4:45 PM to a line that was over an hour. Doesn’t matter when you have a reservation. We just lost $200 because we have another reservation at 8 PM! Super disappointed.

Me and my partner were due to have a festive Christmas skate in Central Park as a get away treat. We turned up early for our 1pm time slot only to find that there was a queue for ticket holders over 1h 30mins long.
It turns out that the time slots are pointless and that people could stay on the ice as long as they want. A steward told us that they were already over capacity and we would have to wait up to 2hrs to get in.
Since we couldn't afford to wait the whole day we asked for a refund, only to be told there was no one on site able to authorise such a thing. We had to email the company direct who have still not responded to our emails.
An absolute scam. Stay away!

48 hours later, still no refund.
I have had a terrible experience with my purchase of tickets to your rink and skates that I could not use. I invited my family from CT, who had a four year old besides being with my 8 year old, and when we arrived at 420 for our 445 "reservation" there was an unexpected line of 150-200 people. I was shocked, disappointed and mortified that I would encounter such a situation. we had other reservations that would not allow us to wait another two hours to enter your facility. Nowhere on your website do you advertise a line wait or suggestions for an earlier arrival being that you obviously over book your facility with no effort to avoid these circumstances. I asked that you refund me fully for my purchases

We booked our tickets well in advance. On arrival at the the rink we were told all skating was cancelled for the day due to expected rain. We asked for a refund but were told by Manny the manager that we had to get one via the website because we were flying home that evening.
We have emailed 3 times now, and have received no email back, which leads me to believe they are keeping our $50.00. What a con!!!!
Do not prebook.

Appallingly managed attraction. Over-crowded, very little care for Covid regulations, total disregard for timed ticket entries. A terrible experience that would not have been worth a fraction of the price.
It started with arriving at our allocated time to find a huge line. When enquiring at the box office as to whether there was a separate line for ticket holders and non-ticket holders we were met with total lack of care.
We were kept waiting for an age, and then finally let in with a huge group to the skate hall. This was packed, with lots of people not wearing masks. It was hot and felt like Covid-central. There was no choice but to line up in the crowd to get skates, distributed by the staff who were unfriendly and (in many cases) unmasked.
The lockers were not working properly and I had to ask for the manager to find somewhere to leave our belongings. To be fair, the manager and her immediate assistants were very friendly.
When we finally got on to the ice (about 90 minutes after our ticket time) it was incredibly crowded. It felt dangerous. We left after about 15 minutes.
A truly terrible experience. Go anywhere else and do anything else.

Hello,
Can I get a visitor ticket to stay at the rink’s side because I can’t skate. Thank you.
Written October 11, 2022
If you're just watching, I don't think you would need a "visitor tickdet", but I'm not sure about that.
Written October 25, 2022
Hi. Do you need a reservation, especially around the holidays?
Written October 25, 2019
Hi,
Is the rink open end of March/beginning of April?
Thanks
Written January 24, 2019
I’ve been in March. I think it tries to stay open through April but if it the weather starts being too warm it will have to close for the season.

Myself and my son are spending Christmas in NYC and we would like to come here on christmas day. Im wondering what peoples experience of this has been in the past? Can we just turn up on the day or would you recommend buying slightly inflated tickets off for example viator to ensure we get on the ice that day. Hoping to go lunchtime... thanks for any help.
Written December 16, 2018
We did go there on the weekend and were able to enter without any queue or anything. Do not think that any advance reservations are needed, especially if they are pricey .
Written December 16, 2018
Coming in February and looking to skate with my girlfriend was wondering if you need to be a confident skater to use this rink?
Thanks in advance
