Neighborhood: Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

I would recommend everyone visiting NYC for the first time to rather visit the Rockefeller Center because it has an amazing view on top of the Empire state building. The negative aspect lies in the intensely high priced tickets, but won't differ from the Empire State building. Definitely recommend of going on top as it is one of the bucket lists items that needs to be done!

My Christmas Season is not quite complete without a visit to the Rockefeller Christmas Tree. Rockefeller Center itself is well known for its efficient architectural design which encompasses multiple entrances and exits from both the street as well as the underground mall and tunnels providing access multiple avenues. With the knowledge that this area of the city is especially crowed this season, I choose to go on a week night. Similar to past years, 49th and 50th Streets are blocked off between 5th and 6th Avenues allowing for higher volumes of foot traffic and social distancing. The plaza itself has gates set up as well to guide a circulation path for visitors. Although the crowd was lighter, the peak shot of the angels to the tree on 5thAvenue was still crowded. The 49th and 50th street sides are a little less crowded and some great shots of tree can be taken from these angles as well. It is a treat to be able to visit this tree in person every year.

I took the Walking Architecture Tour of Rockefeller Center. While I have walked around the area many many times, I now have a better understanding of what I have been looking at and the family at the heart of it's creation. Our tour guide was Debi. She had knowledge, enthusiasm and her heart in the tour. With good humor she provided us with good facts and information, while keeping the group together and moving along the busy city streets.

The Rockefeller Center is undoubtedly a top New York City awe inspiring destination that will leave its visitors enthralled and mesmerized and one in which entice you to visit again, again and again!!!

In December of 2020, I brought my wife and myself to the Rockefeller Center to celebrate our Happy Four Engagement Anniversary, and we had an absolute amazing experience during our visit.

During our time there, we saw and were dazzled by the beautiful Channel Gardens, and had the chance to take great pictures of the infamous Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.

My wife and I also visited and shopped at many of the great stores at the Rockefeller Center such as Anthropologie, a popular and well-regarded American clothing retailer.

My wife and I also took part in the Rockefeller Center Tour, and thus able to learn about the rich and storied history of this famous National Historic Landmark as well as learned about its famous builder, John D. Rockefeller Jr. a prominent 20th Century financier and philanthropist and son of John D. Rockefeller Sr, the founder of Standard Oil.

Both my wife and I thank our tour guide, Jacob for giving us a wonderful tour experience. Jacob did a great job in detailing the great cultural and historic importance of the Rockefeller Center, noted the Center’s major tenants and owner, Tishman Speyer, and highlighted the Center’s famous Art Deco architectural style. Jacob also showed us the Center’s major attractions such as the Ice Rink and the Statue of Atlas on fifth avenue.

Following our tour, my wife and I also went and enjoyed our visit to the Top Of The Rock attraction.
Our Top Of The Rock experience was amazing because we had the chance to see and take pictures of New York City’s majestic city skyline, and other major landmarks such as Central Park, the Empire State Building and the One World Trade Center. The
Rockefeller Center’s professional photographer also took wonderful pictures which featured both me and my wife during our Top Of The Rock trip.

All in all, both my wife and I very much enjoyed celebrating our Happy Four Your Engagement Anniversary at the Rockefeller Center, and we definitely recommend for all domestic and international travelers to visit and sightsee this iconic New York destination!!!

Nice experience and great views. We beat the queues by visiting early morning when it opened with very little wait time. Had a clear morning which enhanced the experience. Definitely one for the bucket list along with the ice skating in winter.

Went to see the tree on a Tuesday. Unbelievable amount of room to walk around -pre-Covid it was so crowded it was difficult to see, walk, take photos. Wide open space now, most amazing Christmas in NYC, just shocking how not just the streets but also the shops and eateries all just had tons of staff and space. Also everyone was fabulous about wearing masks, and when we stopped for lunch they asked us to show proof of vaccination to dine in.

They keep Christmas up well in to the first 1-2 weeks of January. This year, they took it down Monday the 10th.
We were very lucky to be able to see the Decorated tree, the skating ink and just experience all the warm energy. a must see.
Years past I've taken the tour to the "top of the Rock", I'd definitely recommend this view and ease of experience over the messy Empire State Building.

What can be more iconic than skating in Rockefeller Center? This place just oozes charm, and history. Whatever you have seen on Television doesn't begin to cover what your experience is in person. The skates are expensive, and they skate in sessions, usually 2 hrs, and it is crowded. But that's half the fun, bring your camera, because there is plenty to shoot. Even if you don't come at Christmas, this is a beautiful place, great shopping, terrific restaurants right next to the rink.

We bought a City Pass at the Top of the Rock ticket office and used it there as the first attraction. It was a brilliant sunny day and the view went on for miles. The 67th floor is a reasonably good place to get great views from.

There are several different areas that you can go out onto so you get a 360 degree view.

We loved the bijou gift shop at the very top, where we bought some postcards.

There are some excellent videos and exhibits giving the history of the Rockefeller building, so leave enough time to watch these - they're worth it.

Well worth a visit, if only just the once.

Visited over a couple of days whilst in NYC first day was to see the ice rink and to get an idea of crowds and tickets etc so we could return. We also took advantage of the coffee shops here to get in and get warm.
We returned early the following day, the weather forecast was good for going to the TOTR and we paid our $40 fee after waiting in line for 10 minutes and them we were off in the lift (an experience in itself)
The view from the top as you can imagine was fantastic, we loved seeing Central Park from up there. Even though it was quite busy it did not feel overcrowded and we had plenty of space for photos and selfies.
The only downside was the cost of their own photographs they take of you on the steel beam, at 2 images for $34 I thought this was expensive, why do they need to do this?
This is a must do when in NYC and I am glad we did.
