The area
Address
Neighborhood: Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
How to get there
  • Lexington Ave / 63rd St • 3 min walk
  • 68th St – Hunter College • 3 min walk

Like a Mini Notre Dame
Jun 2019 • Solo
I stumbled upon this church while walking down the street looking for a place to get coffee. Trust me, it's a "do not miss." Just like the Notre Dame in Paris, this church is awe-inspiring, soulful, uplifting (even if a person isn't religious) and well worth a visit. Photos don't do it justice. There are no tourists, so it's quiet and one can just sit and soak in all the beauty. And there is so much beauty... Highly recommend.

What a beautiful church. When you are there you feel you are in an old European church. I went to the Latin Mass last weekend. Very Spiritual.

Beautiful Catholic Church in the Upper East Side
Feb 2019 • Solo
It was a very freezing day outside that day. I walked into this church and felt immediate peace and warmth.

As there were people practicing up in the front - I even got a classical concert for free :)

Definitely recommend to see this church!

Beautiful French Gothic Style Church
Jul 2018 • Solo
A peaceful retreat from the noisy city just outside it's beautiful stone walls. The inside is magnificent with beautiful stained glass, side altars, statuary. it looks older than it's 100 years-- feels like you've stepped back in time, somewhere in Europe.

Far more beautiful than St' Pat's
Sep 2017 • Couples
Went to a wedding here and was just so stunned by the beauty and Gothic architecture of this gorgeous church. This church is far more intimate and beautiful than St' Patrick's Cathedral. I had no idea this church existed and I was genuinely thrilled to simply sit there and stare at the windows and the church endlessly. It was such a wonderful experience that I almost forgot I was there for a wedding.

If you are going to go see St' Patrick's you should really really go to this church as well. If you have to choose just one, be a leader and GO HERE. Sit quietly in a pew and just enjoy the beauty of this church's architecture, stained glass windows and quite calm.

Most beautiful Gothic church this side of the Atlantic
Sep 2017 • Business
While visiting Manhattan, everyone stops in, at least once, at St Patrick's Cathedral on 5th Ave, across from Rockefeller Center. However, the church they should really make an effort to visit is the Church of St Vincent Ferrer on Lexington Ave at E 66th St. (6 blocks north of Bloomingdale's flagship store.)

St Vincent Ferrer is a Goodhue/Cram church, like St Thomas Episcopal on 5th Ave, but because it is a Catholic church, it is much more ornate and much more beautiful. The stained glass windows are breathtaking, and whenever the church is open, New Yorkers are stopping in to pray and light a candle.

It is a working, active parish church, staffed by the Dominican Friars of the Province of St Joseph.

It is definitely worth a visit when on the Upper East Side, and it is an easy walk over from Central Park.

A Spectacular Sacred Space
Oct 2016 • Solo
I cannot go to the Upper East Side without visiting the Church of St. Vincent Ferrer. I always feel an incredible sense of peace in the cathedral and, to me, being able to light real candles (instead of those push button models) makes the spiritual experience very special.

They have a wonderful location off of Lex inthe 60's. And offer concertos of ancient music played with ancient musical instruments. I know of no other place in the city offering this and in addition the church is beautiful and the acoustics are great fir music. I have also heard vocal concerts here as well
