Based on reviews, my expectations were low but I thought it would be a good experience anyway. We went today and even my reluctant husband was impressed. The hosts interacted with the audience extensively. The studio is very intimate so we had a great view. I took my digital camera so I could take pictures, as cell phones aren’t allowed. Whoopi and Sunny were both very engaged with the audience, having personal conversations with the guests. Rob Lowe also engaged with a super fan. We loved it.

This show needs to just go off the air, it is so one sided, or rename it the Leftists view? The show has always slanted in one direction but not so overtly. Whoppie Goldberg is an embarrassment and obvious not a lover of the human race, she only looks to incite hatred.

2hr wait. no seating. no waiting room. no water. no way! this is how you treat fans and supporting audience? highly dissapointing. the taping itself is in a very low volume for the audience, so a lot i couldn't hear! not clear the joking around with the audience during commercial breaks instead of intelligent immersion on the topics at hand. felt used and stupid for attending a live taping. came with mom 72 yrs of age and another lady in line with a cane. no offering of water or a seat once ushered inside to stand another hour just to take turns to go to restroom . the way visitors are treated says a lot about the organization. not impressed. !!!

My wife and I decided to attend a taping of the view live a couple weeks ago because we really enjoy the show from home. We also really enjoy, even though we are liberal, that the show added Meghan McCain. We like that she brings a conservative view to the show because it's important to hear both sides.
However, our experience at the live taping went as follows: first, you wait a couple hours to even get in to the show. This isn't really a huge issue because it's pretty understood that getting in to a live taping is a process. This wait feels less worth it, however, as you continue to read my review and imagine the experiences we had once inside.
Second, we were told that prior to the show starting there would be a "pre-show talent" who would get the crowd going so that our responses on camera were more genuine. So, this guy came out and was getting the crowd going and was exactly as expected. He was telling us the rules for during the taping and telling some jokes to make us comfortable. THIS DID NOT STOP HERE and I will tell you why I think....
Third, the show starts and the ladies come out to take their seats. Again, just as expected. What happened next became a themes. Every time the show went to commercial break, either members of the cast left the stage or were IMMEDIATELY on their cell phones. Other than Whoopi, if the audience wanted to have an interaction with the cast, it had to be prompted by the guy who was the "pre-show talent". It became very clear as we had more and more commercial breaks that the ladies do not want to interact with the audience (other than Whoopi who interacted a lot actually). The "pre-show" talent is clearly for audience entertainment so that the ladies don't have to do it. Each break also came with make up and hair touch ups, as well as briefings on the next topics. If you're going to do a show about your view, shouldn't it be "your" view, not information from a briefing by your producer?
And last, also during commercial breaks, the "pre-show talent" (who you clearly can see is not just "pre" show) would attempt to get the ladies to answer audience questions. Great, maybe we will get some good interaction. Nope. We got one word answers. First of all, we were told we COULD NOT ask political questions. This seems stupid since the entire show is 98% about political topics. So, audience members got to ask things like a question that was asked to Meghan: "what's your favorite ice cream flavor?". After taking several seconds to get Meghan's attention away from her cell phone, she answers, "mint chocolate chip." She immediately goes back to looking at her phone.
In summary, my wife and I have been to many live tapings in NYC and this is BY FAR THE WORST. You attend these live tapings in hope of seeing your favorite hosts who you always see on TV at home. Then, you are let down when you realize they are very disconnected from their audience. Besides Whoopi, none of the stars really interacted, which made the wait and your "view" of them from home much different. Now when I watch the show from home, I think about the bad experience we had live in NYC.

My sister and I arrived early and were about 20th in line. Spent a long cold wait outside until they let us into a cafeteria type room and were told exactly were to sit based on how we came through the door. They clearly knew who was first and who was not. There was a table of 6 women who were in the "No tickets" line so they were standby and last in. Those ladies were hand selected and place in front row in the studio. The rest of the room was dismissed and escorted into the studio where each group was carefully placed in various areas. Last who entered the cafeteria were the next sent in and others were let in. Our table of the very first in line was last to enter. I think this was a case of they wanted a certain look in the first row. For a group of women (the hosts)who usually profess to things like looks should not matter that does not appear to be the method of "placing" people where they want them to sit. If you are not the right look or the "pretty people" you will be in the back row. Our seats were in the back row along a wall. When you read other reviews you will need to ask yourself are these average or are they pretty people if they had good seats.
As far as the taping went the hosts could have cared less if they had a live audience. We were merely props. We could have been potted plants and they could have run a laugh, applause or other track and never missed us. There was an opportunity to ask the hosts questions but it was all the comedian with the microphone could do get the attention of the lady that the question was directed to. He called Whoopi's name at least 3 times to get her to even pay any attention to him. Same happened with Sunny. They just talked among themselves during breaks. They never even looked up at us. End of show they just rushed off stage paying no attention to audience.
I have been a fan of the View since day 1 and am seriously disappointed with the experience. I would not recommend the trip if you like to watch from home. You will see hypocrites when it comes to the audience.

Of course, there was a lot of waiting, and the audience handlers were friendly, helpful, and warm. After two hours, once we got into the studio.. it went downhill. We were coached and coaxed to clap wildly, dance, and scream. Once the hosts came out, they barely acknowledged us with a quick wave. We felt diminished and unimportant. After all, they couldn't have a live show without us. VERY disappointed. Won't do this ever again.

My friend had the tickets in his name. He arrived very early, at about 8:15. I arrived at 9:03 am. They cut off the priority ticket line promptly at 9:00 am. They told me to go to the "stand-by" line. The attendants didn't listen to reason that my friend was on line waiting for me. They didn't want to hear it. They were rude and unaccommodating. I woke up at 6:30 am to take the hike from Riverdale, Bronx and was very disappointed. I am a young 72 year old woman and the tickets were ordered way in advance. In addition, my friend tried to reason with them as he was still waiting to be admiited -- he was still on the priority line. I will never again attempt to get tickets to the View -- ever again!! They treat you badly and like cattle. These young attendants need to take a course in etiquette. I was furious. After 10 minutes they said if you are on "stand-by" line, to please leave that they were filled to capacity; not to cause blockage on the street - leave, just like that. I hope management reads this, because they surely need to improve their procedures -- not very clear on who gets in, whether you have tickets or not. I was under the impression that if one of us was on the line before 9:00 am we will both get in. I tried my hardest to get there at 9:00 am so I wouldn't have problems. It's black and white....no grey areas. Very disappointed. [I also followed their guidelines, wore bright, classic clothing]. ABC, if you are reading this, please take notice.

I'm going to be 100% honest and as detailed as I can be, but in summary: I enjoyed myself, and have recommended this experience to many friends visiting new york.
I booked a priority seat through the 1ota website about a month before. On the day itself, I arrived about 5-10 minutes before the recommended time of arrival. There were two lines: priority, normal and standby.
Upon arriving, the priority line was already *quite* long, but this honestly does not matter if you already have a priority ticket. If you are taking a chance by waiting in the standby line, arrive much earlier. When they were checking our IDs, I was the only non American in line, so they stamped my hand and told me I was not allowed to receive any gift vouchers amounting to more than USD70 (this was when I knew they were giving away vouchers, and I was right) because of tax reasons, which was completely fine.
They allowed us into the waiting lounge in batches, and we were given free juice and some snacks. There was also a starbucks in the lounge, which had two different lines - one for the show's viewers, and another for the staff working in the building.
We were all seated in round tables and were asked to fill up some forms. I believe they were related to the gift vouchers, because I was.not asked to fill it up. It's during this time, you should ask the associates to direct you to a restroom because once they start taping, you will not have a chance.
After about 30 minutes, they started directing us to the studio where the show will be taped. They started filling up the rows by asking us to walk in. They had some people in the front, some people change seats etc. Honestly, unlike the previous review, I do not think they arranged us based on looks, they were just interested in making the crowd look as "diverse" as possible.
After we were all seated, they briefed us on what we are expected to do, what we are expected to not do and told us who will be on the show. They also had a comedian entertain us until the hosts came on, he was very funny and he interacted well with the crowd.
After about 20mins, the hosts came on and they started taping not so long after. They started off with the news review segment, and the guest interviews after. Please do note that you will not be allowed to take ANY photos once they start taping, but you are allowed to take some photos before they start taping. Each guest came on at different times, and there were breaks in between each guest coming on. The guests for the day were John Cena, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and Tiffany Haddish.
During these breaks, the hosts actually interacted with us and we were allowed to ask questions. I found whoopi the most accommodating when it came to questions.
Like any other talk show, it was very rehearsed and we had to laugh, clap and sigh based on their instructions - which was fine to me, I understand this is for TV. Furthermore, it was an interesting experience. At the end, after all the guest appearances, we had a little dance/comedy segment with the comedian, and it was honestly very fun. Cameras were off so everyone let loose.
At the end of the show, everyone walked away with free gifts (sunglasses and a sports towel, both of which I still use until today!). I didn't receive the gift vouchers because they had monetary value, and as I said, I'm a foreigner so I wasn't eligible to receive them.
We exited through the back and that was that. All the celebrity guests' cars and bodyguards were waiting at that exit. Truly an interesting experience for someone like me, who'd never been to new york, never been on a talk show, and never met a celebrity like that. I'd recommend this to anyone visiting new york. Regardless of whether it's on the view or some other talk show.

I now know why these tickets were so easy to get. My friend flew in just for The View taping. But of all the live audience experiences in NYC - this was pretty disappointing. 1- We barely made it into the show after standing in line in the cold for hours with an actual ticket. 2. The SUPER LONG priority” line entered first of course. Many were turned away. Once inside we waited another hour to be escorted to our seats. We were excited to attend on “Deal Day” - and hoped for an audience prize. We filled out tax forms in their cafeteria. 3. We were seated behind a huge camera - could only see one of the hosts the entire time - none of the hosts acknowledged the audience. 4. At the end of the show we were given tickets to a production of Cher on Broadway that were invalid for the weekend we were there. Most of the audience was from out of town. It was a waste of time. When I got home and checked my DVR - I realized the deal of the day segment had been filmed earlier with another audience and they received the cool prizes. Total dud. ABC - do better!

Just got back from ABC studios for a taping of the View.
I got these tickets via the 1Iota app very easy to do and was given priority tickets.
We got there at 8.25am and was shown right in, staff were very friendly .
Was lucky enough to get front row seats and had a great view of everything .
The warm up woman was very funny and interacted with US all .
It was an awesome experience for us visiting the US.
Also got some freebies too which is always a bonus.
Would I do it again .... hell yes
And as we left we were approached by staff wanting to give us tickets to Dr Oz.

How far in advance did you get notified about your tickets from 1iota? We're 2 weeks away from our request and still haven't heard anything.

We didn’t put in until the day before. There wasn’t a real popular guest so that probably helped us get in. We found out in about four hours.

Can you bring a cell phone but just power it off or will they deny you admission? I am going to see the View.
Written June 17, 2019
You may bring it and power it down.

Are phone truly not allowed? I read a review that they weren’t but on the show they comment about people have their phones all the time..
Written May 14, 2019
They let you use your cell phone camera for few minutes only, then they tell you to power it off. No pictures allowed with a cell phone. Real camera only, no flash.
At "The Daily Show", some woman took her phone out and Security ran right over and took her phone ~ we were warned.

Hi, If I bring a small folding chair to sit on can I but it under the seat in the studio? I can't stand long. I do have priority tickets.

Not sure. Doubtful. I would reach out to the ticket/ audience people.. they are really nice. There isn't a lot of standing at all. They bring you into a Starbucks Cafe.. where you sit for hours.

Why is the "VIEW" not taken off the air, as it is a disgrace and an embarrassment to many millions of people who respect and love President Trump? You panel is disgusting, unproductive, despicable and intolerable. HOW CAN DISNEY ALLOW THIS VILE GROUP INSULT PRESIDENT TRUMP DAILY? TAKE THE DAMN SHOW OFF THE AIR. APOLOGIZE TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU.
Written July 20, 2018
This is not the venue to address your rant. Better to address your dismay by contacting the network directly via email or letter. Firstly, millions of Americans as well as many other countries, i.e., Germany, UK, Canada, Sweden and the list goes on... think President Trump is a disgrace to the US. As aegeeg said, turn the channel.

I’m traveling with 7 people, we have 4 tickets and so we have 3 in our group that would like to hang out near the taping, maybe a restaurant , or any safe place as they are 3 teenagers or can they enter with us and wait in a waiting room?

Central Park is only a few blocks down. They can enjoy the park while you are at the show. There are also many shops (Century 21, Bed, Bath and Beyond) where they can browse or do some shopping. I recommend Century 21 for the teens. Lincoln Center is a couple blocks down....they can visit the Atrium; sit and have a bite to eat. Columbus Avenue has many stores, as well. Plenty for them to do....the hours will fly by. They can also see an early movie at Lincoln Center Theaters. Since you will be allowed in to The View at 9:00 am...they have a few hours for the movies.
