Family of 4 (children 11/14) did the half day hike with lunch and every bit of it was awesome! Intro with our great guide Phil and his llama 101 overview - perfect. His knowledge of the area was so helpful & answered all our questions, along with a good sense of humor.

We hiked about 1.5 mile to a lunch spot near a beautiful big Ponderosa Pine. He fixed up a spread that our family loved, good fresh food and a variety of drink options. And the hike back was a different route - enjoyed getting to see so much of this area. We got to give the llamas treats after and they welcomed our visit back later in the day to see them again as we were staying on the same property.

This was no doubt a highlight of our trip. Great service, food, people, and sweet llamas that they obviously love as their own fur babies! ❤️ Highly recommend this fun adventure.

Our Wilderness Ridge Trail llamas hike was booked with our room at the Capitol Reed Lodge, but you can book it separately. Andrew was our guide who answered all our questions and we were each assigned a llama to walk on a loose rope for two hours. The walk was easy and slow... there was one short hill. The llamas were gorgeous and amazing, all walked beautifully with us and didn’t seem mistreated ( I’m an animal lover, so I didn’t take me to the exportation of them any further.... and still question my decision).
My only constructive criticism is that Andrew needs some basic photo composition lessons because the photos he took of us together were not too great.... and that’s something most people will ask him for. All in all, we loved the opportunity to have a close encounter with llamas and we had a great time!

Very flexible. Rain was threatening at our scheduled time, and Mike allowed us to push it back until the weather cleared. The good: Riding instructions, jaw dropping scenery, saw a rattlesnake and a coyote. The could have done without: Ten minutes on how great Toby Keith is, political commentary without any consideration for the audience. We were smart enough not to engage.

Thanks for taking a trip with us we appreciate it. Very glad to hear you enjoyed our home and the places we cherish and share. I appreciate your willingness to share your opinion. I wanted to add a simple note if I may: if you are going to the country for a country tour on horseback with a cowboy and going to step into their world I think that is brave and exciting. It allows for most people to see and experience something unique and new. Especially compared to their day to day lives. We are glad you did. Also glad you had a wonderful trip and enjoyed the scenery. Maybe taking it all in and not judging the cowboy, his taste in music or otherwise would be more in line with “staying in your lane”. No one needs to know that you gave a three star review because you loved everything about the trip except the viewpoints of your cowboy that kept you safe and honed his craft over decades of hard work and dedication.

We took the 4 hour llama hike offered at the Capital Reef Resort in Torrey Utah. The hike was excellent from the resort up onto a nearby mesa with spectacular views along the way. Our guide Rusty was knowledgable and a genuinely good guy. He provided lots of information about the llamas and local geography as well as provided a great trail snack on the mesa. The llamas were gentle and sweet, always willing to do the hike to the mesa and back. It was a great opportunity to get to know llamas and see some sites outside the Capital Reef national park. Highly recommended!

We did a 3 hour hike as part of our Utah National Park and Park City ski trip while visiting Cap Reef National Park in April.
This was for sure one of the highlights of our entire trip. Where to begin with the glowing reviews !!
Our guide / owner Beau was fantastic. He had a second guide with him - Rusty - who was fantastic as well.
They met us in front of the Cap Reef Resort (where we stayed) with 4 adorable llamas. We were introduced to each llama, learned a little bit about each of them and off we went on our hike.
Beau is incredibly knowledgeable about all things nature / flora / fauna and we learned so much. We also learned so much about llamas and really fell in love with them. We hiked to a bluff and they brought a beautiful
Picnic for us. The food was great with home made bars by Beau's wife. The view was beautiful.
We have a special needs son an although he can hike he is limited in his abilities to traverse different terrains. Beau and Rusty were so amazing with our son. Helpful and kind.
I totally fell in love with my sweet llama Quincy. If we have the opportunity to do an overnight hike they offer we will fire sure do it.
If I could give them more than 5 stars I would. We have told everyone about this experience - friends - acquaintances - fellow travelers!!!

This was one of our first trips of the 2017 season. We cant thank you enough for joining us on a llama adventure and for trusting a portion of your vacation to us. I enjoyed this trip as well. Seeing your smiling faces was very rewarding. This is what we always hope for as guides.

Mike is a fun and informative Cowboy! We really enjoyed our 2 hour ride. The horses are well cared for and were top notch! Danny (my horse) was a sweetie. Go through the river and riding in a group was a lot of fun. I highly recommend this tour and Mike for all ages and experience level.

We went on a great ride with Mike. This is nice way to see the area without having to be so focused on the trail (MTB) or driving! Mike and his assistants are fun and helpful.

Highly recommend. Mike did an awesome job. Took the time to explains things and made sure everything was taken care of. The horse were great, very well trained trial riders. The view is amazing!! We had great conversations, Mike has some fun cowboy stories. Once the ride was over, we had so much fun talking to Mike we hung around for another half hour like we were old friends. Thanks Mike for an incredible experience! Would definitely do this again!
