This visitor center is a must-do if you are in Kotzebue. Whether you are a weathered NPS visitor, or in town for a different reason - learning about the protected lands in the arctic is a valuable experience. There are bathrooms and drinking fountains available....More
Hosted a public meeting at the Northwest Arctic Heritage Center. There is a great museum, with neat, modern displays. The meeting room is spacious and well equipped. And the National Parks staff is friendly and engaging. A must-see in Kotzebue.
This continues to be one of my favorite places to visit in Kotzebue. In addition to learning about the history of the Northwest, the staff (you must meet Linda!) are incredibly kind and knowledgable. We stopped by twice this last visit and had the privilege...More
The Heritage Center has information about the local culture and films you can view. On Wednesday nights they show an hour long film which we missed due to our plane being late but I understand it's very interesting.
Does an excellent job of summarizing the natural and human history of the region and serves as a perfect information starting point for those planning to head in the national parks and the back country!
The National Park Service operates a very good and informative center. We enjoyed learning about the culture of the native people, the natural tundra and wildlife of the area.

I visited the center to learn about medicinal plants in the Arctic. In the center I looked at native artifacts and animals that live in various places in the arctic. It was a very interesting and insightful experience. I would recommend visiting next time you...More
