About Ghost Tours of the OBX
THE ORIGINAL OBX ghost tour celebrating 11 years on Outer Banks! Escape into darkness on a lantern-tour with a costumed guide while visiting the most haunted locations throughout historic downtown Manteo. Our tours mix haunted history - where every tale is based on local history, research (and documented hauntings!) - with modern technology, including EMF detectors, along with your own camera to take an active part in investigating paranormal activity. But do be warned - everything that happens on our ghost tours is 100% real!

We really enjoyed the experience. Good for all ages and many opportunities to sit and listen to the history. Laura was a great ghost guide. She definitely knows her history.

We had a wonderful time, as always, on Ghost Tours of the OBX. Our guide this time was the costumed Dread Pirate, Diane. We have toured with Keith, too, who is also awesome. We learned the meanings of a number of popular culture terms that really originated with pirates and privateers, like keel-hauling, getting bombed, and some incredible facts about Blackbeard the Pirate that led me to check out all the books about him at my local library! And because I was (far and away) the earliest person to sign up for the Ghost Tours of the OBX in 2018, the tour manager's wife provided me with a signed copy of her book about ghosts of the Outer Banks, a really nice, thoughtful and personal gesture that I treasure. Am in the midst of that book right and and loving it. Such a lovely walk and many opportunities to take flash photos of orbs, lots of humor, too. You're hard pressed to find a more fun way to spend a couple of hours on one of your nights at the beach. Such nice people. I love it!

We did the Graveyard of the Atlantic tour. We are in the habit of participating in a ghost tour on nearly all our vacations. This one was not what I expected, but it was still very entertaining. Our daughter age 9, my husband, and I all appreciated our pirate's humor and our pirate-guide went out of his way to include our daughter. We definitely recommend it.

Matt was our guide - he did a great job. He is an awesome storyteller, putting a modern fun twist on all the historical info. The teens thought it was fun to hold the EMF detector, it went off several times, Matt took the time to point out false readings or possible legit readings. Ghosts are not guaranteed, obviously, but we went for the historical aspect, which was quite interesting. It was a very leisurely walk along streets & boardwalks, and there were benches to sit on in several places, so it’s good for all abilities. We went on a Monday, so we had a 50% off coupon from a welcome guide book. If you have a free night, do it. We had had 10 people in our party & we all thought it was fun. Lots of laughs. Glad we went. One person in our party got a spooky looking photo in the grove.

Great night out for all the family including kids from age 11 to 20. Manteo is a beautiful little town and it’s great to hear some of the stories from its past that were really brought to life by our guide BJ. Excellent way to spend an evening and, who knows you might see a ghost along the way, regardless you will have fun
