Canyon De Chelly Tours is an enterprise of Leon Skyhorse Thomas. Every guide is a professional, certified by the National Park Service by examination. In addition to tours of the Canyon de Chelly National Monument, cultural consulting needs are addressed on a case by case basis for those who seek a more intimate insight onto the Navajo Way. Leon has assisted film-makers on location in Navajoland and is used to delivering high quality services to the people and organizations he serves. There are over 2700 archaeological sites within the many canyons of Canyon de Chelly National Monument. Only 13 of the 700 standing ruins have been stabilized, re-inforced, or protected from degradation. We are professional Navajo guides who can teach you the history of our canyons and about the Anasazi, Hopi and Navajo peoples. We pride ourselves in offering you more than just viewing our scenery - but we can do this too!

I organised a tour for a large school group. They had two Navajo guides - Henry and Reginald. Feedback from the group was overwhelmingly positive, they had a great time.

Canyon de Chelly is only accessible with a Navajo guide. Our guide, Henry, took us on a three hour plus jeep tour of the canyon. He was friendly, open, accommodating and knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being in this spectacular natural site, fording streams, and visiting the ancient ruins. Henry provided binoculars -- which are essential for enjoying... We (two grandparents, a mom, a 10-year old boy) took the half-day tour, led by Richard. We met Richard in the parking lot of a nearby hotel, and got ourselves situated in his clean and comfy Jeep (Wrangler type). We opted to keep the roof folded back, but he would have closed it if we preferred that. During the tour,... More

Took a 4 hr jeep tour & am so glad that we did! Our guide was Angela, & she was very professional, polite & incredibly knowledgeable. She talked about the geology & history of the canyon & the customs of the Navaho Nation. She answered all of our questions expertly & made us the tour something really special. I highly... More

Made arrangements with this tour group, based on the good reviews on Trip Advisor. They did not show up until after 3 phone calls - almost 1 1/2 hours late. The guide was obviously in his personal vehicle which was beat up at best. We actually cancelled and took another tour.

Overall, this was a pleasant experience. The tour guide, Angela, even though she was young, was very knowledgeable and pleasant. White House and Antelope House ruins were amazing. If I go back, I would do a full day and go deeper in the canyon. I did have some booking issues due to a fault on my part. I accidently booked... More

Great tour. Met our guide at the best western and proceeded to the canyon from there. He was very good at explaining everything we were seeing from the rock formations to all the art work we were looking at. He was also very good at explaining how the locals lived in the area both ancient and modern times. The canyon... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our four-wheeling tour through the canyon with our guide, Percy. He offered an interesting perspective having grown up in the canyon with no running water or electricity. Being half Navajo and half Zuni, we got an angle on the history that you don't read about on Wikipedia. He pointed out various petroglyphs, rock formations and explained the... More
