I saw iFly on the local news and knew I wanted to try it! A few friends and I went for my birthday. The entire operation and staff were extremely professional, enthusiastic and encouraged you to enjoy yourself. You really felt safe in their hands.
The building is a brand new fabulous facility with free parking.
Check in at the front where you get a wrist band. You will also get the chance to upgrade for $10 to 'go higher'. Definitely do this -- it was the best part! My husband didn't purchase it at first, but then changed his mind when he saw others doing it and was glad he did.
After check-in, go through to the main area where you'll find the wind tunnel surrounded by seats so you can watch people flying. Even if some of your party don't want to fly, it's mesmerizing just watching!
Your time slot grouping will be called and you will go in a small room and watch an instructional video, followed by verbal instructions from a staff member. There is also a bench in that room where you can practice the 'flight position'.
You then suit up in a jumpsuit, helmet and goggles. Place your personal belongings in a locker for which you provide the code.
You then sit on a bench within the wind tunnel area and await your turn. We were a little nervous, but if you follow the instructions, it should be easy. The instructor is there at all times to assist you. The best part is going 'up high' if you paid for that part. If I had any disappointment, it's that you are not really left to fly much without the instructors' guidance. If you come back over and over and get better, obviously you can reach the point where you don't rely on their assistance. Despite that, it was a lot of fun and easy to do.
We all paid for 2 one-minute flights, which while short, is enough to see if you like it. They offer specials to entice you to come back for more.
Afterwards, you remove all your gear, pay for any photos, videos or souvenirs (T-shirts, etc.) I recommend the professional photos as the ones you take through the glass aren't that great.
I highly recommend this activity. We all had such a 'high on life' feeling afterwards and a couple of people in our group said they wanted to bring other friends and family. It's good for ages 3+ I believe and there are weight limits for adults. See the web site.
We purchased our tickets through Costco, which offered a good deal.

My husband, teenage son, teenage daughter, and I visited on a recent trip to San Diego. It was an impromptu visit, which I booked late the evening before to surprise the kids. Online booking was easy, and the location was down the street from our hotel. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the activity was a blast! My daughter was nervous at first and skipped her first flight, but stepped up and completed the second flight. The staff allowed my son to do the flight that my daughter skipped, which they didn’t have to do so I was impressed with the customer service. Definitely order the video - you will receive a link in your email, and can take screenshots if you want still photos. We will definitely do this again!

I've jumped from a plane, and while that was a rush it also comes with a good amount of fear. I enjoyed this more. Our instructor was a lot of fun. She took each of us around the tunnel and was great with the kids. It was an amazing experience to be able to float in the air and learn to move yourself around without the worry of the ground and your imminent death approaching. 10/10 will do again. They take pictures that you can purchase later online. The kids each have one in their room and talk about the experience all the time. Recommend doing the (high fly?) package. Was amazing going to the top.

My last visit to IFLY in Mission Valley in San Diego disappointed me because I felt insecure and unsafe during the flight, like a falling plane. I already had experience with IFLY and knew how to feel secure while "really good" high-fly.
On 08/26/2023, during my high flight, my body was bending because the coach and I were at different levels of moving, and he was flying below my level and pulled my body to the inside of the circle. Relying on that fact, my body was not straight, but an arc and created centrifuge force. That situation was frightening for me. I think it happened because the airflow capacity was different in the tube. I am an engineer and can realize it. I have the photos to prove my situation during fly. There is one weird thing - the crew did not put a video record of my high fly on the site. Why?
I talked with the manager about my dissatisfaction with the flight. However, he said that it was an ordinary situation, nothing bad. My opinion is the opposite.

This sounds like a frustrating experience. We pride ourselves on our world class customer service, and what you’re describing is certainly not typical for us. We’ll look into this further—we appreciate you sharing this feedback so we can improve.

I booked 3 flights for my children ages 6, 8 and 10. They were beyond excited but we showed up 12:33 for a 12:30 reservation and the manager didn’t let us in. TERRIBLE SERVICE, WORST EXPERIENCE AND CLIENT RELATIONS. I spent $300 dollars and they offered no refund option for not taking us in. Not worth the money and the stress. Mission Valley, please fire your manager and look for someone nicer.

We are return flyers to this location and try to come here every trip to San Diego. Each time we have come, it seems to go downhill as far as customer service. We also notice that there appears to be a rotation of staff quite frequently, and maybe that's the issue here. If there was a bit more care for the consumer, I would have given another star. If they gave us what we paid for, again another star.
Another complaint I have on this visit was that you did not start your flying experience until one hour after your appointment. The last few times we visited, we started at the time of our appointment. That wasn't so much the issue, but the staff telling me "that's how we have always done it." I had responded, "no, that's not how it was the last few times we have come." Funny, but I was right. Be careful what you tell people, you might not know who you are talking with. Again, would not have been an issue until the "always done it" comment. But whatever.
It is a great experience if you have not been. But, be warned that you are just another number in the day.
Not sure if we will return or recommend to anyone anymore. Not if customer service is not part of their business.

(My hubby wonders why people jump out of perfectly good airplanes to skydive. If you feel the same, go here. You get to experience the free fall experience without the fear of crashing)
I was here as a chaperone for a youth group doing the STEM presentation. The kids watched as the instructors had balls and squirted water in the tube. They were mesmerized. They were then in awe as they watched the instructors do amazing "tricks" in the tunnel. The kids went into the party/class room and learned about aerodynamics, terminal velocity and how the slightest movement of your body can have a huge effect in the tunnel. The kids then suited up for their 2- 1 minute flights. Our group opted for the "high-fly" which I believe is $10 more, but SOOOO worth it.
There is a brief 5-10 minute "class" that explains the body position and the hand signals the instructors will use. You empty all your pockets and then put on the suit. (There are lockers for your belongings). Your shoes go back on (NO sandals/flip flops. If you did happen to forget close-toed shoes, they will let you borrow some) and you then gear up: earplugs, a pair of goggles and helmet. At your designated time, you sit inside a tube outside the tunnel and then take turns entering and exiting the tunnel. The tunnel, along with the facility, is beautiful. It is floor to ceiling "glass" with 360 degree view. The lighting sucks for pictures, so good luck with that.
The kids did their first flight and they had HUGE grins on their faces. When the 2nd flight came (after all kids rotated through) a different instructor came in to fly them HIGH. There are handles on the suits and the instructor grabs it, along with your leg, and takes you up about 20' in the tunnel, back down and repeats 3 times. If you are going to spend the money to fly, I STRONGLY recommend spending the other $10 to FLY HIGH!!!
My son wants to have his birthday party here (13 years old) and my whole family wants to go. (They provide pizza and sodas for the party. Since this wasn't a birthday party, but a STEM package, I do not know if cake is included).
Maya Abada, the group event sales manager, was AWESOME!!!! There was miscommunication about arrival time, but she went out of her way, along with the staff, to make it a memorable experience for all of the kids.
If you are looking for something fun to do, a little out of the ordinary, go to iFLY San Diego. There is a restaurant (Dave & Buster's) just down the street and a mall within a couple of miles. It is located within a few minutes of Qualcomm Stadium.
They do video tape your flights and they are available for purchase, around $8 each video at time of this review.

I've always wanted to sky dive, but because of age and cost, had decided that it was never going to happen. While visiting in San Diego, my sweet husband surprised me with a side trip to iFLY ! So exciting and fun. Everyone was very supportive and I had a great time. Back and leg muscles were a bit sore the next day but not too bad and definitely worth it! So much fun and just wish one was in Indy. Thanks so much

Is two times enough or is it better to do three times. It’s for three kids 2 - 11 year olds and 1 - 17. I gather it’s just 1 minute correct. But don’t want to pay for extra if chance kids will feel sick. But wondering if 2 is enough
Thanks for your help
Written December 20, 2017
It really depends on how the kids do. It is fun, but it gets tiring if they have never done it. I would suggest that you do a package and the time can be shared however you want between the group. So if one kid gets too tired, the other can take his place. My son and I shared a 10 minute package, and I was tired so I gave him my last minutes.
The time can be broken up in several ways. You can decide while you are there.
As far as sick, if they ride amusement rides or roller-coasters, they will be fine.
Written December 22, 2017
Absolutely! It's a great place. The "tunnel" is in the middle of a big "waiting" and watch room. There are restrooms and a vending machine. You can take lots of pics and video too!
