Join us in San Diego aboard the MV Horizon for 1-5 day long range sportfishing adventures, or the MV Malihini for amazing .5-3 day Southern California sportfishing. You don’t need to be a professional sport fisher to enjoy a few days at sea with us, we make it easy and productive for everyone with professional crews and captains and the leatest fish finding technology.
For the past 30+ years between the MV Malihini and MV Horizon we have provided customized fishing charters and deep sea fishing for all ages and experience levels. The MV Horizon and MV Malihini are located at H and M Landing, the top sportfishing location in the San Diego, California minutes from the San Diego airport.

I was a little hesitant about booking this just for myself considering I am a single woman but Patric made me feel safe and comfortable right from our first conversation, he put my worries to rest rather quickly and I couldn’t be happier that I did this. So any woman single or not let me tell you that the entire crew was kind, respectful, patient and helpful. For me I had never been sailing or even snorkeling but Lalo made it so easy that after a couple of minutes in the water I was totally at ease. Then the sharks started showing up and you forget about any nervousness that you might have had and just enjoy their majestic beauty.
Captain Spencer was awesome he told great stories and made us all laugh.
Captain Cary was amazing as well.
Shea and Johnny fed everyone great food, we had 3 wonderful meals a day with snacks in between and they even made sure they had vegetarian options as well.
Lalo,Jay and John did a great job with helping us get settled and comfortable not only in the wetsuits that they provided but answered any and all shark and non shark related questions. Just all around great guys.
I would recommend Horizon Charters to anyone looking for a exciting vacation that definitely will involve seeing great whites up close

Horizon Charters stands with integrity, honesty and a fierce passion for the safety of crew, divers and the amazing great whites and these special waters they come to and feel safe in. My shark trip got cancelled, due to unfortunate circumstances caused by the reckless and harmful actions of others. This was devastating, but Patric refunded my money immediately and held my place for the next charter. I cannot say enough about the integrity and commitment of Horizon to make sure their crew, their divers, and the sharks, and their surrounding waters, are safe and protected and unharmed. They are true conservationists that want to protect Guadalupe Island. This is a trip of a lifetime, my dream for the last 10 years, and when we are able to set off to Guadalupe, I will be with Patric and the crew of Horizon.

We just returned from an amazing trip aboard the Horizon. It was the trip of a lifetime. They really do take care of everything for you. The crew are a great group of people: captains Spencer and Cary made our ride a comfortable as could be; and crewmen Brendan and John helped with making sure the boat was tip top shape and assisted with diving. Mike and Shea created three amazing meals per day (and snacks in between). I was impressed with the variety of meals they prepared at sea. We saw 20+ different sharks. Lalo was our dive master. As a group of people who had never been diving, breathing through a regulator was scary. But he was able to walk us through the process and calm us. Before we knew it, it was a piece of cake. They have a great system down for rotating divers and providing ample amount of time to dive with the sharks. Isla Guadalupe is an amazing place, seemingly untouched by man. Be mindful that it is a long boat ride, be prepared. The boat stops in Ensenada to go through Mexican customs, but they handled the entire process. Once at the island, it felt like stepping into another world. If anyone is on the fence about booking with Horizon, I hope this review helps. With all the great things I listed above, my favorite thing about the Horizon crew is that they legitimately care about the sharks. They want to educate and protect these creatures that are a vital part of our world. They are not just there to make a quick buck. Thank you Horizon crew for wonderful memories!

The crew was excellent regarding customer service, knowledge of boat life, IT, and great white sharks, and round-the-clock availability of food and beverages which included fresh coffee.
We experienced several different great white sharks circling the cages for 2.5 days with as many as 6 white sharks around the cages at same time.
I would recommend this company and crew to anyone who would want an experience of a lifetime!!

Just did a 6 day diving charter with Horizon with 20 passengers. We didn't do the shark dive, we did a custom depart San Diego and dive along sites at San Clemente, Santa Barbara, and Catalina Islands.
The communication and willingness to work with our schedule was fantastic, a very easy process. And the diving Was an OUTSTANDING experience. Not only did they take us to some incredible dive sits through the Channel Islands, but their service with meals, upkeep of the boat, sharing marine knowledge, providing kayaks, snorkeling, paddleboards, etc was unsurpassed. We were a mix of experienced and novice divers and we felt safe at every dive site and the suits and gear were all well taken care of and high quality. The captain even sighted a massive humpback whale breaching and slowed the boat for one of the best 15 minute whale shows I've ever seen. Highly recommend this company - my group will definitely be back!

It was Nov. 2008, Sunday afternoon when I boarded Horizon. We made our way out of Mission Bay. We were given a fine meal and headed south (222 miles) toward Guadalupe Island. We got there at dawn, anchored and started our diving adventure.
We were divided into two groups of eight. The cages had been placed in the water back of Horizon. Orientation was given. We were to stay totally in the cage at all times. Group A got into the cages. We waited with camera gear ready. Then there was a Great White, looked to be the size of a school bus. Cameras became active.
We calmed down Sharks sense hart beats!
The Great White swam past and cameras were were being held outside the cage.
I hope I will be able to repeat this trip.

I was booked on their September trip which unfortunately got interrupted due to Covid, and from start to finish they have been absolutely incredible in their handling of it. They tried so hard to make it happen, kept us informed, offered alternatives, discounts for the next year, and refunds within minutes for those who could not reschedule. Such a great company, bummed it wasn’t a go but they sure went above and beyond in their customer service and I know when I do go, the trip is going to be amazing!!!!

Horizon has been unbelievably professional and accommodating with all the Covid travel issues. My November trip had to be canceled this year due to Mexico’s Covid border restrictions. Horizon kept me updated the whole time and when it was official that the trips were going to be cancelled they contacted me personally right away. They offered a FULL REFUND or the option of moving my trip to 2021 without any extra fees. I chose the latter. Because of the inconvenience, they gave me first come first serve on the date of my choice. I’m now all set for next year and can’t wait!

I fulfilled a life long dream to see Great White sharks in real life. I have been on the Horizon before for scuba diving trips to the Channel Islands and knew that they are a quality operation. Everything from booking through returning from the trip is well organized. Captain Spencer and the staff is amazing, friendly and always there to make sure their guests have a positive experience. The cooks, Shea and Johnny, are excellent and kept us well fed with delicious meals. The dive master, Lalo, brings lots of experience with sharks and is enthusiastic about education people about the real nature of sharks. Make sure to bring sea sickness meds since the drive to Guadalupe Island is long and the sea could be rough. Overall, I can highly recommend Horizon Charters. It is certainly one of the best, if not the best, shark and dive boat. You won't be disappointed.

This is definitely a bucket-trip type of event with me. After dealing with medical issues and no longer being able to participate, Patrick (at Horizon Charters) was fantastic to deal with. A super friendly company and accommodating to your needs. This is definitely a company I will book with in the future and totally recommend you to do the same for a true Great White Shark adventure.

Is there a smoking area onboard?
I'll preface this by stating that I don't speak for the Horizon in any capacity and I certainly do not want to imply that they condone it but in my experience, they accommodated us smokers. However, as just sort of a general curtesy, we usually did that on the opposite end of the boat from where the divers were gathering. Outside of course. I can't speak for everyone but there was never an issue on our trip and I think we had 5 or 6 smokers.
