Meaning it seemed less a ghost tour and more just a tour with historical information about the settling of Old Town and about the graveyard we visited outside of Old Town. We weren't terribly disappointed, but for sure it wasn't a scary tour. We spent our time on the trolley admiring the houses we drove by on the way to the cemetery. Our tour guide was funny and that is part of the show that goes with the tour.
Our most entertaining moments were from a few of her ad-lib comments that just gave us fits of giggles and also from the interesting people who were on our tour. A few of them were quite enthusiastic.
Whaley house was neat to tour but so many people in there at one time.
At the end of the day, I guess San Diego (or Old Town) just isn't that haunted.

I really enjoyed the tour from an educational perspective - very dark and macabre but not very frightful. The Whaley house was interesting. I suggest watching Ghost Adventures episode before you go (Season 9) to see their experience. The host and driver were also and well paced.

Very good tour, I liked the guide he was funny and after the Whaley tour it got even better. I was shocked about what we learned about what San Diego had done to old grave yards. Very heart wrenching.

I took a group of teenage Girl Scouts on the tour. In Savannah they offer Girl Scouts a discount but not in San Diego and after inquiring with Group Sales there is no discount, even when booking a private tour. Prices also go up as tickets sell, so purchase early before they increase. Our Friday night tour also sold out, so keep that in mind, don’t wait too long.
The tour guide was very entertaining and informative. This is not a scary tour at all. My Girls would have enjoyed more goosebumps than history, but my adult brain enjoyed the historical aspect. The tour is recommended for children 13 and up. It’s definitely not too scary for kids younger than 13, but it might be too boring for that maturity level. My 15/16 year-olds were fine.
Don’t forget to bring along cash or have Venmo to tip the guide at the end.

Although this isn't a scary or haunted type of tour, it is a wonderful historical tour, with an emphasis on early San Diego citizens and their notoriety. If you are looking for ghost-hunting or ghost-sightings, you may be disappointed, but if you enjoy hearing about the antics of early California citizens and their demise, you will enjoy this tour. During the tours that take place after dark, you will see many beautiful homes and neighborhoods lit up at night, and enjoy the views overlooking San Diego.

We bought our tickets in advance online. We had gravedigger Dave & his pal Dug for our tour. ;) He had a lot of historically accurate stories to share and corny dad jokes to make everyone laugh. The fright bus trolley was awesome!
The tour is easy to follow and had wonderful history to share. As we did the 9pm tour the pictures I got were awesome. Caught a few questionable shots of ghosts?
I was most shocked by the history of the mission hills and El Campo Santo interred. Even found a few relatives I had no idea were there. So extra thankful for that!

Whaley house was closed because of covid but I am excited to see what this tour does with it when they get the all clear.

Definitely would recommend for a good night in San Diego.

My husband took me on this tour for my birthday, and we had a great time! Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the area as well as the people involved. Both of us really enjoyed learning about the darker side of sunny San Diego!

Morti, our tour guide really brought the history of San Diego alive. Our tour consisted of stopping at a church, a haunted house, and two grave yards. He was able to answer all our questions and made some difficult subject matter digestible. This is our second time doing an extra tour with Old Town Trolley Tour Company and they do not disappoint! A great way to spend an hour and a half in Old Town. A light even turned on at the Whaley House. Was it part of the tour...our Jim in the kids room?

Very boring, not much content, hard-to-understand tour guide, nothing scarey at all. There were 4 of us in our group, and we all left with the same opinion--wasted our time and money on this one.

Did this tour with the family several years ago and I remember it being more entertaining. Took my girlfriends and we were all a bit disappointed. Lots of history but not much in the way of ghostly stories. It was all a bit boring and while I thought the information on the Presidio park was interesting, I could have done without all the cockroaches that were around the park. Made my skin crawl. Had I known I would have worn something other than sandals. When I did the tour previously, I remember visiting another house rather than presidio park. Overall, meh....
